My husband worked for Absolute Moving Company for over a decade, during which time he was a dependable and hardworking employee, quickly becoming a crew leader. He was trusted so much that he was often asked to take on private jobs for the owners and their families. In April of last year, he sustained an on-the-job injury. He promptly notified the owner, Jeff Burdick, who dismissed it by suggesting he "wasn't a young guy anymore" and should see a chiropractor. My husband requested light duty, which was granted, while he quietly attended multiple medical appointments to seek a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Four months later, still in the midst of medical evaluations, Absolute Moving Company terminated his employment, citing his injury as the reason. He was told he could return once the injury was resolved. At the time, we were unfamiliar with the workers compensation process and assumed it would only apply if extended time off or surgery was required. However, the company had no workers compensation information posted, as required by law, leaving my husband unaware of his rights. No injury report was filed by Jeff, who appeared to hope the matter would simply fade away. After his termination, my husband began the workers compensation process, which ultimately led to a settlement. His injury was significant enough to require surgery. Throughout this process, we discovered that Jeff Burdick only posted the required workers' compensation notices after my husband filed his claim. Most concerning, Jeff later gave false testimony under oath, claiming he was never made aware of the injury. This contradicts the fact that my husband was placed on light duty for months, something no company would grant without knowledge of a workplace injury. Multiple employees also confirmed they were aware of his injury at the time. Even more troubling, Jeff admitted during deposition that my husband had always been an honest and loyal employee, yet simultaneously accused him of fabricating the origin of his injury. This entire ordeal has been disappointing and disheartening. After more than ten years of dedicated service, my husband was met with dishonesty and a lack of accountability from owner, Jeff Burdick. My in-laws recommended getting a local moving company from VA Beach for our move from Loudoun County, VA to save money instead of using one of the big companies. After searching Yelp for reviews, I called Absolute Moving during the evening expecting to leave a message. Nope! Rick picked up the phone. I explained that we had a huge house and were downsizing a little. That we had to move out on June 29th and couldn't move in until July 2nd, so I knew there would be storage fees. And that I had a 10x10 storage unit full of boxes 5 miles away. He asked me to send him videos of each room and I sent him a list. Because I was 250 miles away there was no way to do a physical walk thru & estimate. But with the info I gave him, he gave me an estimate that was less than 1/2 what I got from JK Moving and Interstate Moving!!! We did all of our box packing. I periodically hit Rick up with questions and he always responded quickly (within 24 hours). He provided me with a written estimate but there was no contract or deposit. Move out day, the team showed up on time. Mark, the team lead, was thorough and the entire team was professional, polite and speedy. It was a big job and took them about 8 hours (team of 5-6) to load up. Move in day it was pouring rain. We closed on our house at 10am and they were anxious to get started so they could get off to their holiday weekend. Rick had 11 guys show up and they had us unpacked in about 4-5 hours (with a pizza break we sponsored)!!! Again, polite, good humored, friendly guys. Even ASKED if they could use our bathrooms (like I'm going to deny them that). I'm about 75% unpacked and have yet to find anything broken or damaged. Rarely do I provide online reviews, but Absolute Moving deserves every single good word you can say about a moving company! Moving many times with prior military and private sector, I've seen it all. Unfortunately recently I've had to move 4 times in 5 years, three of those were with not-so-great companies--- that is until this last move with Absolute. Absolute Moving is THE absolute best of all my prior moving experiences, coast to coast. Their attention to detail was evident from the start--James promptly returned calls/texts/emails during the quote process up to scheduling my move date/time. Their transparent pricing was extremely comparable with other firms' estimated costs. On moving day, the crew phoned w/their estimated time of arrival. Right on time as scheduled, the crew of four gentlemen (Seth, Rodney, Bobby and Sammie) were every bit the hard-working, consummate professionals! Throughout the day, their manners/kindness was unmatched HANDS DOWN by any other moving crew I've contracted w/before--they took great care with all my belongings, stacking the boxes/tubs in an organized manner to avoid crushing (unlike the previous moving company). Oh, and at the end of the move-day, there were no add-on prices that were unexpected. Absolute Moving Company January 20th, 2018 Recently my wife and I moved across town. All of the movers I contacted simply wanted to give me a "quote" over the phone; very risky in that a quote can grow into a terrifying monster as the moving day progresses. Only one mover came out to give us a FIXED cost BELOW the others' ESTIMATES; Absolute Moving Company! They were courteous and professional, showing up exactly when they said and immediately began working. I was amazed at how they made lifting and moving extremely heavy boxes I'd packed, making it look like I'd boxed feathers. Not even a grunt or an angered stare escaped from any of them. They handled all of our belongings as if everything belonged to them. NOTHING arrived broken as they carefully put all furniture where we wanted AND THEN put it all back together. It would take several thousand words to list all of the wonderful things they did. The chaos that's usually moving day was made so much easier thanks to the dedication of the entire moving team. I meant to do this about a week ago but, we just moved and I haven't had time, so here it is now... I can't say enough about these guys. I had another company that I knew people at and that I knew had a great reputation, scheduled to move me. As many of us have gone through, the actual move date was up in the air due to not knowing actual closing dates. Well, by the time I had an actual closing date, my guys were booked. The owner of the company recommended Absolute and I knew that he wouldn't recommend a company that didn't have high standards, so I gave Absolute a call. Rick came out and it was a week prior to my moving date. We scheduled everything and the price couldn't be beat. The crew showed up right on time and by the time they introduced themselves and I gave them a quick run-through, they were moving and it was nothing but business. The guys were fast, meticulous, and real easy to get along with, and didn't take any breaks. I moved from VB to Chesapeake and this was literally the smoothest move that I've ever done, thanks to Absolute. I don't ever, ever plan on moving again but, if I have any need to move anything, I will not use anyone else. I would also recommend these guys to anyone looking for a smooth and stress free move. My wife and I could not have had a better experience with this moving company! Rick Taylor and his team displayed the utmost professionalism and competence throughout the entire process! We requested them on extremely short notice, and Rick immediately responded with all of the information I needed. We decided against a major moving company because of the cost, and Absolute wound up having better service and cheaper prices, which you clearly cannot beat. The crew, led by Bobby, worked NONSTOP the entire time (they literally drank their Gatorade for 30-45 seconds on only two occasions, and kept moving). They more than deserved longer breaks, but they pushed through without a single complaint. The move took roughly 3.5 hours, including an almost 45 minute drive time, and I have rarely seen the kind of work ethic that these guys demonstrated. I researched several moving companies beforehand, and the number one complaint was when the crew members would get on their phones or take excessive breaks. These guys were completely focused on the job, worked as a team, and never once got on their phones. A work ethic like this is hard to find nowadays! If I had to do over again, I would still use absolute they pack your goods up by rocky, wrapping them up in some type of cellophane it look like Spider-Man it been in my house everything was raft. We traveled six hours away from my home to take them a little while to find a truck driver to bring my girls over but every person I've seen that works for this company. They are dedicated the customer service Summer. Jasmine are you go to people they work diligently trying to make sure that they stay on schedule. I didn't realize it but your furniture does not go to a warehouse it would be cost prohibitive because my 26 foot truck is completely packed so they take the truck and store that somewhere with your goods on it. The problem is now I have to find a driver and I didn't realize that But they were very attentive even though I was rude at times I wanted to know where my furniture wise, they were desperately looking for a driver and I apologize to both of them. They are very nice ladies, and when they brought my stuff over nothing was broken they hustled in here the guy name Paul, a big man just moved everything right in the place. They didn't change the pricing or anything they doing a good job for me and I would welcome them back. read more

Absolute Moving was great! When I initially called to inquire, they came to look at my apartment, see exactly the situation and stuff involved, and then gave me a quote that was hundreds of dollars less than 5 of the other 6 companies I called, none of whom came in person to get an accurate read on things. The day of the move, they showed up exactly on time with 5 guys to load up the truck. They maneuvered my piano out of my tiny apartment, onto a tiny outdoor landing that demanded an almost impossible angle, and then down a flight of outdoor stairs quickly and without any problems (something the company that moved me into the same apartment had not managed at all). My tv and peloton they wrapped and padded carefully, and both made the move without a scratch--as did all the rest of my furniture! All the men were all nice and pleasant despite the hot day and the long walk back and forth from their truck to my door. Then two of the guys made the three hour drive to my new home. Again, they were kind and easy and courteous the whole time unloading into my new apartment. Moving is always overwhelming, but this was by far the smoothest, safest, easiest move I've had to do. I don't typically write reviews online, but this time I am compelled to do so because the work these guys did was AWESOME!!! From the minute Rick gave me the free estimate, to the point where they started packing, moving and loading--the end results was just on point. If you have valuable and breakable items, the team will take extra care to make sure they are wrapped in bubble wraps, and boxed up good. Worry about long distance move? Guess what, my move was from VA Beach to Mechanicsburg, PA and these guys did it with style and efficiency. The funny thing is I was there with them pointing out what I needed and how I want those items process, and they knew exactly what has to be done---I was just in their way and causing some delayed in their movements. All in all, you can accept this write up (review) or you can give them a try and find out yourself how good of a company this is. I don't want to sound as if I am advertising their name, but believe me, when you have so many fragile items, you want to have the best in the industry or out there to take cared of your belongings. Had Absolute do our move on June 24, 2017. Was impressed from the start when I met Rick for our in-home estimate. Next we got a not to exceed price for the move and they stuck to it to the penny. The 5 guys ( Albert, Corey, Phil, Jude and Russ) were on time and actually started earlier then planned. It was hot and they worked their butts off and didn't stop until the truck was loaded. They moved a 3 story, 3 bedroom condo (including a 4-500 pound metal safe) out and into the new house in 5-1/2 hours and not one thing was damaged. Rick, I don't know what you pay these guys but it is not enough. You have an excellent group of guys who work hard and actually care about what they are doing. We have moved 7 times in the last 8 years and this was by far the best and most stress free move we have had. Albert is an excellent lead man and was extremely helpful. Have put your name out to everyone I know who was looking at moving. You guys are the best and my wife and I really appreciated the professionalism. Good job. I've moved 4 times in the last 10 years, including local, long distance and most recently across state 180 miles with absolute movers. I was very satisfied with the service provided. Quote process was easy, and they were able to get it scheduled quickly. Formal quote was provided with post move payment options. A piano was also included, with no issues. Like others I hired them to move most of my heavy and larger items. Separately I rented a truck for easier items because we have too much stuff, ha. ( low deck type) I had difficulty getting that rental truck up my steep driveway. As I was scheduled with absolute the next day I contacted Rick on a Sunday with my concern that his truck would have the same issue, and he helped resolve my concern that his truck would work. I had 95% of stuff pre-wrapped but they wrapped a few items I missed. 4 man crew made quick work loading and unloading. Who else sends 4 movers across state? Retired military with over 20 moves in our career doing our first one on our own. Our house is undergoing renovation, so we used Absolute for a local move to storage for some of our items and an interim move to Washington, DC for the rest. Best price compared to two other moving companies in the area--Absolute was the only one with a fixed price and prompt estimate. Another company gave us a variable price, and the other did not provide an estimate until nearly our move date. Absolute walked the house and gave us the lowest price on the spot as well as explained other charges for assistance if we needed their services. On the day of the move, their crew was extremely professional and prompt. We had a simple change to the agreed move plan, and the price was negotiated quickly over the phone--was very reasonable. All of our goods were received in great shape as promised. They also helped us at the last minute with some packing and moving a washer-dryer to a friends house. When looking for a mover and reading reviews, we were first skeptical of all of the 5 star ratings for Absolute Moving Company, but my wife and I were totally impressed with the professionalism of Absolute from their 1st visit to give us an estimate to our last contact with their upholstery repairman. We were moving from Virginia Beach to Chesapeake and wanted a local mover to do the job in one day. The estimate Jeff gave us was fair and competitive with other local movers. Albert and his moving crew were on time, personable, efficient, and showed genuine care for our possessions. They did the moved in near 100 degree heat in less than the anticipated 8 hours. They made sure everything was in place and where we wanted before they left our new home. During the move, a piece of fabric on our living room sofa was noticeably scuffed up and Jeff had, Norm, their upholstery repairman come to our home and repair the fabric, which now looks as good as new. Sorry, it took this long to write this but saw one of Absolute Moving's trucks yesterday and remembered I didn't write a review. I'm an older fellow and my wife and I have moved many times over the years. We've had good moves and we have bad ones. This particular move was a breeze. I looked at most of the moving companies in the area using a variety of sources. Narrowed it down to a few which I contacted. Absolute was the only one to come to the house and look at what was there. Like I said we have moved before so I'm pretty good at packing. We agreed on a plan and a flat rate, which was far below most over the phone quotes I received. On the day of the move, they were there on time with the crew who were all extremely polite and efficient. They took care of all our belongings. I even had a few "extras" I didn't take into consideration when our contract was agreed on. They just put on the truck with a "Don't worry about it" instead of charging extra. Since I'd never hired a professional mover, I went online to read the reviews. Some were pretty terrorizing. Absolute Moving Company, however, got consistent high praise for professionalism, responsiveness, good rates, and careful handing. So I got their estimate...and it beat 3 others I'd previously received. After scheduling the move a month in advance, I would contact James now and then to add some details and get any updates. His replies were immediate and thorough. I became confident that I was in good hands and made the right decision. James assured me that along with an apartment full of furniture, my heavy 40-year old church organ would arrive to my new place safely...and it did. The crew of Cody, Skylar, and Dre were magnificent. Friendly, punctual, conversational, and boy...did they move fast.
