I used Tidal Town Moving for a move that took place on June 30, 2024, between Richmond and Hampton Roads. Despite the higher prices, I chose this company after extensive research and reading numerous glowing reviews. The booking process was smooth, and they accommodated my tight timeline. On the morning of the move, three gentlemen arrived in a relatively small truck. I expressed my concern about the truck's size to the driver, who seemed confident it was appropriate for the job and assured me everything would fit. After signing the insurance claim forms, they began working. From the start, I noticed issues. After an hour, the truck was only about 20% loaded, while the house was still 90% full. I checked with the supervisor, who reassured me that we could fit everything in, though he admitted it would be tight. As time passed, the truck reached 50-60% capacity, and the supervisor grew concerned, suggesting we might not get everything in. I proposed getting an additional truck, which he agreed with but insisted we continue as planned, providing further reassurance. At this point, the movers were cramming items in and ended up damaging several pieces, including a very expensive standing desk, a bookshelf, a shattered lamp, lost bed hardware, and dropped boxes. I filed a claim for these damages, which I'll address separately. By the end of the move, the truck was packed to 100% capacity. I tried to fit the remaining items in my personal vehicle but couldn't. Despite my suggestions to rent another truck, the movers insisted they couldn't do anything further. Additionally, the movers were ill-equipped--I had to provide water and first-aid supplies after a mover cut himself. With a fully packed car, stressed animals, and a tight timeline, I decided to let the movers finish up and proceed. They arrived at the Hampton Roads location about two hours later. The unloading process was exhausting. The movers needed constant direction and repeatedly asked where each box should go, even though they were labeled. My standing desk was damaged during this time when it was pulled from the truck, revealing that it wasn't fully wrapped in a moving blanket and was scratched from contact with the truck's floor. I expressed my concerns to the supervisor, but he deflected responsibility, blaming the movers' inexperience and distancing himself from the issue. The claims process was equally frustrating. Despite spending over $2,000 on the move and enduring a month of back-and-forth with VA Moving Claims, I was offered only $139 for damages. I denied the claim to be able to leave this review, as stipulated in the contract. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this company. If you find yourself in a bind and have no other options, purchase the most expensive insurance you can afford and hope for the best.

janet cleland 46 reviews just now New Great moving experience. They arrived on time and notified me 30 mins prior. Very efficient and careful with the house goods. Kris,Jerick and Ben were great. Pricing was reasonable and communication with company prior to the move was great. Any questions I had were answered clearly and I knew what to expect. Thank you! Part two of the move took place today 2 10.25 and the experience was just as great as the first. Stephon, Dakota and Jordan were great. On time, respectful of home took care of items with no damage in either move and very efficient. I also had a packing service for the dishes and clothing closets. This was well worth it and very well done. I can't say enough good things about these movers. I would definitely recommend. They really made a stressful event so much easier and nicer. Firstly, all of our trucks are 26-foot box truck. We do not own any other sized truck, so you can be assured that you received the largest option out there. Secondly, our supervisor advised you during the load, that not everything was going to fit. He let us know that you were going to be fine with us focusing on the larger items that would not fit in a car. Our supervisor also stated that many of the smaller items were not packed or boxes weren't completely full, not allowing us to properly load and stack in the truck. Unfortunately, damages are inevitable in this line of business. That's why we offer several tiers of damage coverage. On this particular move, the free coverage was chosen. If the higher option was chosen, the reimbursement for the damaged items would've been significantly higher. Again, we understand accidents can happen, and this is why we offer these additional coverage options. Tidal review Please take time to read this entire review and save yourself 1) money, 2) time 3) energy and 4) insurmountable amounts of stress. I am a local realtor in Hampton Roads so I deal with movers quite often in our area. This company was referred to me by a good friend who is also a realtor in the area. I looked into them and although a newer company, their pricing seemed fair and they were extremely flexible with my move-in date. When setting up the move, I was told that they were going to be providing moving supplies (extra boxes, boxes for the mirror and tv as I told them I needed it, tape, moving blankets, etc) and have a two-man crew with a smaller truck based off of a phone conversation. They didn't want to come and see my house to give me a quote so I assumed everything would be fine. So the day of the move, they show up with the two man crew and the truck. After walking the house with me, they told me that I 100% needed a 3 man crew a bigger truck without a doubt. Without it, It would take them all day. So I called the company to see if they had another person they could send. They pulled someone off of another job and he got there maybe an hour later. This 3rd person was useless....He stayed on his phone the entire time. I was 4 months postpartum and trying to help them move things because of how slow and inefficient they were being. There was only 1 of the 3 movers who was hustling and not on his phone. The other worker was working like it was his literal first day. I could write a novel on how horrible this move was. I ended paying $1,000 more than what they told me it would be. They COULDNT EVEN GET MY HEADBOARD downstairs. They asked me if I knew how to do it.....Like moving was my profession. They spent over an hour try to get it down and ended up damaging the wall trying to get it down and then gave up on it. I had to call my previous movers to come and look and two men were able to get my headboard down in less than 5 minutes no damaging anything else. They had to make two trips because they ran out of room and took the long way to get to the storage unit AKA charging me by the minute. I called the office during the move in tears telling them what I was experiencing and they said a manager would call me....he never did. I asked them not to say anything now because I was scared they were going to intentionally damaging items. My impression was that since they were moving my things into a storage unit, they didn't care about putting my things back together, they didn't care about how my stuff or how it was loaded into the unit. Things were tossed in the unit. The couch was set fabric to the floor with zero protection. Nothing was shrink wrapped. The moving company who unloaded said he didn't believe this was done by a professional moving company. Tidal broke several of my items. Thousands of dollars worth of my items. The broke and scuffed parts of my $2,000 headboard, they drug my $4,000 dresser which is made of all leather and glass **down the stairs** with no protection, broke the glass on the dresser and the back leg of the dresser, they broke my 65 in tv, they scuffed a storage cabinet, they broke a 3 tiered cart, they broke my dining room table chairs, they lost all of the hardware to my dresser, my daughters crib and my bookshelf. Im sure there's honestly more but this was 6 months ago. I submitted two damage claims, one for the moving into the storage unit and one when I moved out and saw all the damages. I have been waiting for a manager to call me for SIX months. Not one phone call. I still haven't received any compensation for all of my broken items. I haven't received an apology. I haven't received anything. I am an extremely level headed person, that's why Ive waited 6 months to write this review but haven't had any resolution. Basically, I would hate if someone else had this experience, do not use this company. You will regret it.

Worst move experience ever. Taking advantage of military families, then try to buy their silence with a check for $160 that we can only cash if we release them of all liability and agree to never speak negatively of them. Such a slap in the face. A year later we are still recovering financially from the negative impact this company had on us. Be wary. (Very nice- but don't expect your stuff in 1 piece)

A few of these were after relationship breakups, so he literally helped me move forward in life! My most recent move was from Virginia to Texas in October 2022. Ivan and Anthony coordinated my move-out from house to storage, storage unit to moving truck, and then delivery to new home. During this move, Ivan also transported my car on a flatbed trailer attached to the moving truck. Before providing estimates and scheduling moves, he would request to take a look at the old space and all items to be moved. He was also helpful in suggesting which size unit to rent when I had to put all my furniture in storage. Neither elevators, stairs, traffic nor weather would deter Quick Move. Ivan made sure that everything was transported and delivered with care and intact. Ivan not only handled moves, he had a good eye for furniture placement. When my bedroom set would not fit, he knew which pieces would look beautiful in other areas of my apartment. Before moving/delivery day, I always printed a copy of my home floor plans and designed my furniture layout. Ivan also helped my mom move appliances/furniture to and from her clinic. He even picked up a store order for me instead of my paying for shipping/delivery and figuring out how to carry the heavy purchase upstairs. In past moves, he packed my kitchen and living room into boxes, which I appreciated. Ivan is professional, reliable, trustworthy and communicates well. He identifies ways to save money and resources. He ensures that he has enough help, whom have also been reliable. He uses his time efficiently. He requires a down payment of 50 percent, which I am comfortable paying because I know he will complete the job. I highly recommend Quick Move for all types of moves.

They assessed the items to be taken and their prices were decent. Best thing is knowing that they intend on donating the items that are salvageable to veterans. Being a former US serviceman, this was great to learn. Even my sister hired College Hunks to move her belongings across town as she was going through a divorce. Our experiences made the decision much easier to hire College Hunks yet again as I have just purchased my next " forever home" not too far from the apartment. I highly recommend College Hunks Hauling Junk for anyone in need of their moving services. Not only do they remove the much larger pieces of furniture with ease, but they always seem to use care when removing and relocating them into your planned destination. No dings on the walls, no scratches on the floors and they are very respectful and courteous. My last move, they collected a China cabinet, a bedroom dresser, an armoire, a hand made kitchen table and antique display table with marble slab top... all were donated. Thanks to College Hunks, it is nice to know that my furnishings could benefit another in need of them. That alone is worth it.
