During our boat ride out to see the whales, we saw fisherman and many beautiful beachfront homes. Also, Melissa explained about the other sea life in the area. She was open to questions. It was finally close to 3 PM, before we saw approximately 7 whales. It's little tricky to photograph the whales, as the waters were choppy. (Plus, you don't want to lose your phone). Just a suggestion for upcoming visitors: Food is sold upon the boat. However, I would recommend bringing your own snacks. The pretzel we had was just fair. Also, plan on dressing in warm layers and bring gloves. It was cold! Overall, we had a spectacular time see these wonderful whales. He goes ABOVE AND BEYOND what he needs to do. He plans the air, airline seats, last minute changes, cruise arrangements around Norway and Amsterdam. He then arranged for us to take a transfer to the Thalys (train) to Paris. We did the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre tours as well as sight seeing. On top of that he arranged the transportation to Disney Euro in Paris where we stayed another 4 days and obtained park passes which he managed as well. The River Belle leaves from an unassuming, sort of dumpy location out of Point Pleasant, right by the bridge that goes over the river and down to the ocean, where Jenkinson's is. You show up about an hour before sail time, and you go to this little ticket booth, where the most awkwardly-attitudinal, red-faced woman hands you your tickets (I went on the afternoon sightseeing cruise, no food involved, which is a-ok for this kosher-keeper, for $25), although be forewarned that they only take cash, no credit or debit cards. She told us we could start boarding at 3:15, although at about 10 after, we saw people begin to board this Mississippi, Rollin'-on-the-River type Delta Queen boat. It sets sail through the Point Pleasant Inlet, the Manasquan River, and abuts Barnegat Bay. The narration points out several really cool and interesting stories and facts about the sights and sites along the way (G-d only knows how many are real and how many are old wives' tales), such as a legend that Osborn Island, colloquially known as Treasure Island, served as the inspiration for the Robinson Crusoe novel of the same name, or the one about Black Beard leaving some gold coins in the area. Regardless, the staff is accommodating, they have pitchers of ice water and plastic cups available for the passengers to quench their thirst in the hot Jersey Shore sun, and the breeze blowing through your hair, coupled with the sunshine and the river sights, make this a remarkable excursion. I had an amazing time, and didn't want it to end. Families with children, young couples, and even a Ultra-Orthodox-looking family from Lakewood were on the boat, in a diverse display of temporal unity while enjoying the water. When you get too hot from standing by the bow or stern, you can sit inside at the tables and crack open the windows all the way, to get an awesome breeze off the water. I totally recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy an afternoon in Point Pleasant.

The campground is quiet and also well maintained. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. There is no camp store, but they do sell firewood and ice at the office. Even if a good amount of people are here to fish there is still plenty of space to spread out. I also love that there is a large playground area and very clean bathrooms. The park ranger was extremely friendly and had bandaids for us when my 3 year old clipped her finger with a fish hook (ooof). Plenty of parking and overall a fun and easy way to take my little kids fishing for the first time.

So Emerson's introduction on our first morning was very worthwhile. Emerson shared with us the history, anecdotes, interesting buildings of the Asbury Park boardwalk area, nearby Ocean Grove and the downtown. Emerson has clearly done a lot of research, and we learned things we would have never picked up on our own. Therefore, I highly recommend the tour!

Unless you are medically unfit, you can do this. Exceptional customer service sums up the team at Jim Thorpe River Adventures (aka LOC). They are extremely well organized which makes for a great trip. Everyone from the moment you enter LOC until the very end was polite, professional and wanted to make sure you have a great time. Some tips to follow: you only need to arrive 15 minutes before your group time, this allows ample time to get situated. Buy their pre-made lunch, it is well worth the 10 bucks, bring extra water on the raft (especially in the summer). Use the bathroom before you get on the bus (and be quick). They give you a dry bucket for your lunch and items, yes you can bring your phone in a dry pouch. Wear a hat and a sun shirt, it is hot and sunny, without much shade. Jump in the water when you have the chance !! If you are a "full figured" person it will be difficult to re-enter the raft, be aware. The trip down river is very safe and well organized. The guides are VERY safety aware ! If you are nervous and listen to them, the team will get you down the river without a hitch ! A few suggestions: don't go on a busy holiday weekend, it can get crowded on the river, the safety briefing takes a long time and you a sitting in the sun (remove your vest and drink water), during July and August I would imagine the water is very low and slow (if it is a dry summer)...best only if you want to have a relaxing rafting trip. Overall, a bunch of fun. The entire family had a great time.

Originally I bought tickets for July 13, but had to reschedule due to a conflict. Bonnie was responsive and helpful during the process! We went on our tour yesterday with Bri as our guide. Bri was an incredible guide who peppered history throughout our tour. We were super impressed by the quantity of food and drink on the tour. We left very full with leftovers for days and lots of recommendations for future visits to Asbury.
