I would not recommend this tailor to anyone, and I want to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. For context -- I have been coming to this location for over 10 years under the previous ownership. In that time, I had at least 10 suits tailored there without a single issue. I kept coming back because the work was good and the service was professional. That is no longer the case. I brought in four suits on January 24th for alterations -- a simple taper on the slacks and button adjustments on the jackets. Two months later, when I came to pick them up, only one suit had been done correctly. Two were so poorly altered that I had to take them to a second tailor to have them fixed, and the fourth suit was never touched at all -- in two months. When I arrived to pick up my suits, I was calm, polite, and simply asked for my items. Instead of handing them over, she refused to let me leave and proceeded to argue about how none of the issues were her fault -- taking the pants off the hanger in the middle of the shop to explain her position. I had to ask multiple times just to get my own property back. The communication throughout this process was also unprofessional, including text messages to my wife that were disrespectful and completely uncalled for. At the end of it all, we paid $300 and walked away with one wearable suit out of four, plus additional costs to have two others corrected elsewhere. She would not acknowledge any responsibility for the outcome -- not for failing to assess the fabric upfront, not for ignoring the sample we left on day one, and not for the finished quality. After more than a decade of loyalty to this location, we will never return. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. There are talented, professional tailors in this area -- this is not one of them. read more

I used to go here when Sylvia was the owner. She helped me with my wedding dress and it turned out amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it was under new ownership when I came to get a work dress altered. I had been out on maternity leave and nothing fit so I was desperate to get these done asap. The lady who helped me was so kind and she called the owner while I was there to inform her on dresses and cost. I heard the owner, Jade, snapping at her associate on the prices and how much it would cost. They discussed the dresses and agreed to $26 per dress. This was all done while I was there and the associate told me not to worry they were simple alterations and wouldn't take long. I dropped the dresses off February 20th and was promised they would be done by March 4th. March 4th came and I received a call from Jade saying she needed more time and that I could pick them up the 7th. This was frustrating because I was planning my work schedule around these uniform dresses but I was understanding. Then the day before the dresses were due, Jade called at 7pm and left me a message stating I was undercharged and had to pay more. $66 per dress more. It would be one thing if Jade had apologized and contacted me sooner. Instead I waited 2 weeks, was told the hemming would take even longer, and then the day before I'm informed I was undercharged and because of her mistake I had to pay more. The whole thing was unacceptable and a complete waste of my time. Jade should have done her due diligence and realized the mistake and contacted me sooner so I could've taken those dresses elsewhere. I was never offered a solution let alone an apology. This experience has made it clear that I will not be returning or referring this business to friends or coworkers. I called AAA and asked if they could tailor a pair of lined trousers for a woman and they said "yes." I told the lady who answered the phone that I wanted them made from scratch and she said she could do it. (I've had a lot of trouble finding such a place so wanted to sure she understood what I wanted.). We made an appointment for Wednesday at 11 AM. On Wednesday at 11 AM (today), I went to the shop and the lady told me they don't offer this service. I asked about my phone call where they assured me they could do it. All she said was that they couldn't do it. I am totally confused and frustrated. I made a needless trip and I feel fooled. I cannot recommend this business. read more

I was referred to Sylvia by the shop where I bought my wedding dress. The reasons I was convinced to use Sylvia was because the shop-owner of the bridal shop has a good history with one of my friends, the shop has been using Sylvia for 5 years, and Sylvia would do all my fittings in the bridal shop which was convenient considering I live very close to the bridal shop. My frustrations began when I was not informed of what forms of payment were accepted. I used a credit card in the bridal shop to purchase my dress, and was unaware that I could not use a card to pay Sylvia until the end of my first fitting appointment when I was expected to pay half of the alterations payment with cash or check only. I had neither cash nor my checkbook as I assumed I could use my card since that was how I paid for my dress in the shop. It needed to be made very clear by both Sylvia and the bridal shop (as the bridal shop books her appointments for her) that the only acceptable methods of payment were cash or check and I would have had that with me the day of the first fitting. I also think if it is check or cash only payments, then an initial fitting to get the cost amount should be included prior to the first fitting so I would know the exact amount needed for that half payment at the first fitting. Most alterations places do this-an initial fitting to give the cost amount and then schedule a first fitting. As a result of this issue, I was told by Sylvia I could mail my payment to her at the address on the receipt-which is the address for AAA Custom Tailoring & Formal Wear in Scottsdale. I am always leery about sending checks in the mail, but the check we mailed our DJ made it to him without a problem, so I mailed the check. After not having the check cashed 2 weeks later, I began attempting to call Sylvia because I was worried about why the check had not been cashed. It was near impossible to reach Sylvia. Her shop phone is either connected to a fax machine or the other person in the shop cannot answer any questions, so I was referred to call Sylvia's cell phone number. This also resulted in me leaving messages more than once as she does not answer her cell phone. After leaving more than one message about my missing check and the status of my wedding dress-which she had-I called the bridal shop. Of course, since Sylvia is 3rd party, they didn't want to help me much, but they finally submitted to calling Sylvia on my behalf to help me get a hold of her. Eventually, Sylvia called me back at an inappropriate hour-about 8:30pm on a Friday evening, which is completely outside of work hours. This whole process to reach her took about a week's time, which is unrealistic especially for someone altering an expensive and important dress. Once I reached her, she claimed she never received my check. I still find that difficult to believe as the envelope was never returned to me and I still don't know where it is to this day. I honestly believe it arrived to her shop and got misplaced in her shop, but there is no way to prove that. I was forced then to pay $25 to cancel the check for fear of someone forging it and cashing it or even Sylvia forgetting that I paid her a second time and her cashing it and me being overdrawn on my bank account. It was far safer to cancel that check. Since I was the one put out by all of this, I asked Sylvia to discount my alterations by $25 and she flat out refused stating it wasn't her fault that the check went MIA and I should not have paid to cancel it because no one else but her can cash it. Has she not heard of identity theft? Check fraud? Check forgery? It was a risk I was not willing to take, but I also would never had to have mailed it if I was properly informed of the accepted methods of payment at my bridal shop or at an initial fitting. Fortunately, the bridal shop owner gave me the $25 as she had thought Sylvia would discount my services and understand the frustration I was dealing with. Sylvia eventually discounted my services at the final fitting, but I reminded her that the bridal shop owner already took onus and gave me the $25 so I didn't take her additional $25 off because that would have been dishonest. I would not recommend Sylvia for wedding dress alterations because she is impossible to get a hold of, only accepts cash or check payment (which is hard for some with wedding costs so high), and because she only did an okay job. There were wrinkles in the fabric where she didn't sew it right on the bodice and they are so visible in my photos that it makes me really upset that it looks like that-she didn't alter it well enough to fit normally (and I have worn dresses of that shape before without that bunching on the waist. I have also seen wedding dresses on many people of different sizes and the bunched up fabric is not there) and she also did not follow through with things I asked her to do. I just feel it is important that it should be easy to communicate with your alterations place. read more

This Place is a JOKE. the person working for the owner doesn't even speak English. We went in here to get some pants hemmed. We were there on Saturday and told her that we needed them on Tuesday. She didn't understand, and made us point to the calendar. She wrote the wrong day on our ticket and we were going out of town the next day. When we went in on Tuesday to tell her she said to come back that night @7pm, knowing that they closed at 6. Of course we went back, and of course no one answered the door. They charged you 5 dollars for a rush fee, which is bunch of crap when it wasn't going to be rushed anymore. When I went to go pick up the pants a week later, she said I needed to pay her, when we paid her already. I then had to tell her again on what day we came then she grab a book and saw I paid, but never put it on our ticket. How can you run a business who doesn't even speak English.?It's like talking to the wall. Then when you call this place the owner will answer which she speaks perfect english. I was told that because I was a new customer I would receive 30% off my entire alteration order. When I arrived to pick up my order that was not the case and the woman working charged me full price. I explained what I was told and showed her the sign but she said no sorry this did not apply. She refused to credit my card and walked away. The sign in the window is not what they follow and should be taken down. I do not recommend AAA alterations due to this situation. read more

Had Sylvia do a build up for my wedding dress we had ALOT of problems... When we came in after describing what my mom and I both thought was a well detailed explanation it wasn't what I was expecting at all... My dress is IVORY and the fabric she used to do the build up was BRIGHT WHITE. Now that may not sound like a big difference but when put right next to each other it's a big difference. Also the sleeve she did didn't look at all like what I wanted. My dress also has some different angles in the bust and the build up was not following these angles. We told her the problems and she had an excuse for everything. She would say it couldn't be done but my mom and the wedding dress place owner explained that it could be done and how to do it. I ended up going with a different sleeve for less stress. and about the fabric? Yeahhhh my mom had to go get the right fabric to show her you can find ivory. We found it at Joann's which she said she wasn't able to find.. Long story short the build up was ok but my mom ended up bringing the dress home and having to finish it off. For over $400 she should not have had to finish her job. If you are doing any kind of build up I would DEFINITELY suggest finding someone else to do it. Not pleased. read more

Ordered my dress from Lillian Lottie boutique..they are amazing..Megan is amazing..anyway I lost about 10 pounds after we ordered the dress so a lot of work needed to be done to the dress especially since the whole back was out! I was a little nervous and I only literally had a week until my wedding..can I tell you she is a miracle worker!!
