Disappointed in my first visit here. I got my car towed here instead where I usually take it. Mistake number one! AAA tow driver had told my husband and I, members receive a discount on all work up to 30% to 40% and our tow would be free. We decided to give it try especially with the money we would save. However when my car got there, employee Barry, informed me that, its only a 10% discount. I, than shared what the tow driver told us, Barry replied stating "these are experience drivers they would not tell you that". Um okay, basically calling us a liar which i didnt appreciate, lacking customer service. We got the report back and over looking it I noticed Barry included a lie in his report, stating "customer stated coolant was leaking". Not once did I tell him this nor did my coolant ever leak. I called to ask him to change it and he never did. I decided to get my car towed out of there as I didnt trusted this shop with my vehicle nor my diagnosis after seeing he falsified the report. Once my car got to the original mechanic I usually it take it to, they told me I didnt need everything on the diagnosis. Barry, who works at this shop, is a rip of.. stay clear! read more

I have been a AAA member for YEARS, and have NEVER had any issues until I visited this place. First of all, Barry at front desk was an extremely condescending jerk. Don't get me wrong, I am not completely familiar with car parts or repairs, so I asked a clarifying question about a certain part. Instead of him educating me, he patronized me and explained it to me as if I was 8 years old. This was an immediate red flag to me so I decided to seek repairs elsewhere. Come to find out that this AAA was planning on overcharging me for DEALERSHIP PARTS!! Worst experience I've had with AAA ever. Had a starting issue with my vehicle. They charged me for a diagnostic review of the system, starter, battery and alternator. They told me the stater was bad and charged 751.92 for the repair. Problem was that when I went to pick it up they had to Jump the vehicle for it to start which meant it was the battery. They even said I needed a new battery which was covered under a warranty with Auto Zone. Not embarrassed to have to jump the vehicle for me to leave the service center. I picked up a new battery and the vehicle starts every time. Basically they lied on the diagnostic if they even did one. The starter was fine and a warrantied battery was all that was needed. Also they kept my vehicle over a weekend causing me to use Ubers to go anywhere. What a total JOKE of a service center. I asked for my money back and they were going to talk to someone higher up and get back with me, never happened...... Go figure read more

Having car trouble is never fun. When my engine overheated and I needed a towing service and repair going into a very busy weekend I was less than thrilled. However AAA really made my experience seamless. Every estimate provided they found a way to beat somehow from picking my car up sooner than expected, getting it in for diagnostics earlier than anticipated, to having all of the parts for my repair early. Additionally Jose was the absolute BEST!! He was constantly communicating, kind and honest. Thanks so much for everything!! read more

I went to get a diagnostic because my vehicle was running hot and they gave a estimate of $1000. I said go ahead do the work. Waited there all day and as got in my car to leave it still showed hot and the vehicle dies before I leave the parking lot. They looked at again and gave me another estimate for $900. After I just laid them $1000 for something they didn't even fix. I had no extra money to spend so I had to leave with my car in worse condition than when I brought it in with. When I left I noticed they left their computer plugged in to my car that was worth thousands. I brought it back to them cause it was the right thing to do and they didn't even bat a eye. This is my go to repair shop from now on.!!! Had my car towed there and they replaced a couple sensors and then they told me the computer was bad and need to be replaced. Instead of charging me for computer which would've been $1000 they told me that exhaust computers are covered by a federally mandated eight year warranty and I should bring it to Ford. Ford initially said no and after getting the web reference from AAA and sending it to Ford, it was replaced for free since it was under warranty. Would it have known if AAA wasn't that honest. Ford then said I needed to replace an engine mount for $400. I called AAA and they said they saw them and it was not necessary, again saving me another $400. Was not happy when they broke my fuel tank after repairing my fuel pump. Following this, my car was held at another location through Thanksgiving without being offered a rental car. I was then told by multiple people via phone that I was going to receive a full refund. When I got into contact with this location, they said that they will not provide me with a refund. Apparently "nice" does not mean honest. During my granddaughters year at the U there, she used this Auto Repair Center a number of times. And four times they convinced her that she needed repairs that a trusted Auto shop in Wisconsin that I go to had already done. All the services that I will mention were already done (or in the case of motor mounts, thoroughly checked out) when her car's odometer was at 206,000. All the "new" services that I will mention were performed by this AAA when her car's odometer was ONLY between 214,000 and 217,000. In other words they said these NEW services were necessary after only 8-9,000 miles had been driven: 1. Power Steering Exchange service: $126,00. 2. Motor Mounts: $163,00 3. Transmission Fluid Service: $189.00 Add it up. She got ripped off for $478,00 I highly recommend that the owner/boss fire the mechanic who probably is working on commission and lied to my granddaughter and to him, Until that happens and is somehow conveyed to the public, I would highly recommend y'll steer clear of this place. read more

Racist guys in front , declined my service saying they don't rotate tires and clearly they do! I don't recommend.

I didn't want to leave a review but I wouldn't feel right if I didn't. I'm a people person and I look out for others so. I took my car here for an oil change, assuming they would take care of my BMW 2012. They did not, they said whoever did my oil change prior tightned the cap to much, so much that they may break it if they use any force. They eventually were able to get it off and didn't break it. After they were done, I drove home and noticed my oil was leaking and very fast. I took it back to RJ and crew the same day. He said he thought it would be more expensive but they will need to replace my oil pan for $2200 as soon as possible. A quick oil change for $115 to $2200 that fast. Long story short i did not feel safe driving my car after taking it to Gruelich's. They let me drive away knowing my oil was leaking. I went to a BMW shop and they fixed the problem for $60. Stay away from Gruelichs. They are not for the customer. read more

It pains me to write this as I have been a faithful customer since about 2010 or so. I have sent a lot of business to this shop. Being backed by AAA used to mean something. I am not sure what has happened in recent years but quality and integrity changed. My spidey senses were up in July 2023 when I spent $1800 and my service advisor (who had never met before... Juan? Jose?) seemed 'off' to me but I paid it because I have been going to this shop for over a decade and always trusted them. Fast forward to January 2024. A parasitic battery. They now tell me they need to replace the fuse block and the harness (per instructions from the dealership) and they are surprised that that is the fix on a non-German car. The car in question is a 2015 Honda Civic with 71,000 miles on it so it's it's barely being broken in. The cost of the fuse block $1500 + unknown cost of labor. I take my car to AMC Automotive (12th street & Highland) for a 2nd opinion and he replaces the alternator for $530 and the car has turned on without issues for several days. Additionally AAA Auto had me believing I needed the tie rods replaced at an estimated cost of $690 so I had been budgeting for that and AMC Automotive reports new tire rods were not needed. A simple google search says tie rods don't need replacing until well over 100,000 miles unless there has been some incredible front end damage. AAA Auto charged me $91 for the wrong diagnostics and I don't even understand how they can keep that money when they were wrong. read more

Had a stalling issue with my car, so AAA tow picked me up and took me to a local shop. They did a test and found out it was a fuel pump issue. Got the fuel pump fixed and was having a huge fuel leak coming from the car. Had another mobile mechanic come by to see what's happening cause I can't afford to tow the car there again just to find out the Techs at this location did not plug in my fuel lines. Attention to detail is everything and with fuel leaking out is a huge safety hazard. Find a shop that doesn't have staff that don't plug things back in after removing them. It would have taken 1 cigarette on the road to cause my whole car on fire because of them. STAY AWAY!! read more

Went in for buyer's inspection. Watched check out the car from the inside and outside of shop, and they seemed to spend about 10 minutes looking at the car and just left the car on the lift for another twenty minutes and declared the job done, without anything else looked at from that point. It seemed that if I didn't bring up my concern that I was to be charged 100 bucks. Instead, they brought the price down to about 50 and charged for a half hour of work. I told them it seemed more like ten minutes of work and I mentioned seeing the car sitting on the lift for about twenty minutes without any further attention. Of whom appeared to be the manager told me that it was his decision to spend less time on the vehicle because it was newer and that it depended on the age and wear of the vehicle, regarding how much time was actually spent inspecting the vehicle. Manager said that young hybrids didn't need much attention. The clerk did not make any eye contact with me at all, which did not help with my perception of dishonesty. BBB complaint, next. Update: Upgraded to two stars, because their central Quality Service department contacted me: I was issued a refund. read more

I had a bad battery and got my car towed to this shop. I specifically asked them to check out my car and make sure everything else looked good. They did (or so they said). 2 months later, all of a sudden my rotors and break pads are on their last legs and need to be prepared. So I spend $800 for the replacement. Of course they give me a price sheet with recommended repairs also (over $2000 worth). One of those items is replacing the windshield wipers (which is super cheap to do, why even bother messing with them). The next day, I notice a little piece of rubber flapping around from the windshield wipers while driving. So the windshield wipers just happen to break the moment it's in the shop while they flag it as a suggested repair? While they were giving me prices for the rotors on the phone, the guy actually said "my boss just stepped out of the room, let me see if I can knock a few more bucks off." Come on, is there really a need to treat your customer like an idiot? I know you're overcharging me, just tell me what the price is. Do you really expect me to believe you're going to risk your job to save the customer a few bucks? I hope there was another customer standing in the shop listening while that phone conversation took place. Trying to give the customer a good experience would be so easy, I don't know you have to be so resistant to the idea. I called them back about the windshield wipers and no answer. Then I come here, and see all the 1-star reviews of them doing garbage work and massively overcharging people for everything. I'm not even going to try to get them to replace the wipers for free, I will just pay to get it done somewhere else knowing that at least nothing else will break while my car is getting worked on. The only reason I chose this place was because it's within walking distance of my home and I can easily WFH without coordinating a ride. Now I am having second thoughts about whether I should even keep my AAA membership next year. read more

If I could give zero stars I would!!! My company van was brought to this shop 3 times in less than 2 weeks. Initially for an oil change. We were told there was a transmission leak so we brought it back to get it repaired. After pick up the van wasn't running correctly and the check engine light was on. Brought it back again and was told nothing was wrong. Drove it 3 miles the next day only for it to die in the middle of an intersection. I have aaa but because I wasn't there they refused to tow it to their shop. Canceled my membership after horrible service only for them to call back and tell me to uncancel and they will tow it. I call to re instate on with them for 20 minutes and probably the rudest person in the exception area. Andrea was the agent. Save yourself the time stay away!!! read more

Strange experience this week. New to neighborhood, took my 2010 Mazda MX-5 (only 28,000 miles) here for an oil change, Greeted very pleasantly, ready at appointed time, completed oil change in about 20 minutes. Guys then approached me and told me both my rear struts were "shot---almost no fluid left in them, leaking right now. Less than 4 ounces of fluid in each side". Quoted my a replacement price of ~$620. When I asked why they would be shot, they said I must drive it hard. That's not the case---I am a medically compromised old guy. The car was a gift---I drive it gently---almost lovingly. Drove directly to an independent auto repair shop whose owner is a family friend. He drove it, inspected it, bounced it, put it up on a lift. "I don't see anything wrong with the struts. They are dirty---maybe a very inexperienced worker thought the dirt meant there was a leak. (Guy speaking to me at AAA was an affable gray-haired guy of about 65 years, I'd say---no newbie by any means). There is no way to tell how much fluid they contain---they are sealed. Struts usually last much more than 80,000 miles. I would not replace them, but if I did, my price would be about $480." Like I said---strange. I know pro's can disagree, but I felt like AAA tried to sell me parts and work that are unnecessary. read more

THE AAA EXPERIENCE IS THE WORST!!!! Super disappointing (and dishonest). (Read Camen A's review Too) AAA came out and said battery too dead to test and therefore verify warranty. That guy was an incompetent idiot liar scammer faker. The battery is under warranty. The guy said we do t have a warranty (lie). Cannot get warranty prorate without a test. He would not charge the battery to test it. Then AAA recommended towing to this shop. the shop got the vehicle about 2:20. we were Informed we would get an email when the vehicle arrived. Still haven't gotten it 5-1/2 hours later. Par for this course. We called just before 5pm (we had called as the vehicle was being towed to tell them what we needed and they said they would charge it all night and test it in the morning). When we spoke with them at 5pm "Larry" said they did not have time to put it on The charger (really three hours isn't enough time especially after telling us that is what they were going to do) and they would do it tomorrow. but by then "Larry" was being an a-hole and we dont want someone like that working on our vehicle.
