Recently i needed to purchase a new washer and a month later a dryer. they were very helpful. The prices compared to Home Depot and best buy but the customer service was much better. THEY WERE NICE. I actually ordered the wrong dryer i ordered electric and i needed gas. Who knew I saw a plug figured it was electirc. did not find out to when they delivered. the drivers were nice and did not make me feel dump. they took back the item i ordered the correct type of dryer and i was still only charged for one delivery fee not the one with the wrong item because of me. My freeze just went. All these appliances that failed were not from AAA. I will be ordering my freezer from them. I prefer to make purchases from local vendors rather than big corporations and the prices were in line so why not give business to locals? read more

Would give below zero if possible. Freezer was in stock when we ordered it a month ago to be delivered today. They never showed or called to reschedule. Our freezer died last night but we didn't panic because we were expecting this one to come in the morning. When I finally called them, whoops, it didn't make it on the truck this morning. We are now losing a chest freezer of food because they couldn't be bothered to call and let us know. NEVER AAA again. They clearly didn't care and were really condescending when I finally reached a person., read more

So we were supposed to get a delivery of a washer/ dryer between 8-9 am this morning . It's now after 10 and no one has shown up and no one has called us to say anything.I've left multiple messages but have heard nothing. So frustrating. It's almost 4 pm and still no washer/dryer. They called at 1:30 to say they would arrive in an hour. It's now 4 . Does anyone want to wager if we will get our washer/dryer today? read more

AAA Appliances will be my go-to for appliances from here on out. I needed a full set of kitchen and laundry appliances. Unlike at Best Buy, Lowes, and other large stores, the staff at AAA took time to assess what I thought I wanted and guided me. A Nightmare Experience I chose to purchase a new free range oven from AAA Appliances in Jamaica Plain because I thought this would be the most convenient option (I later learned this was a huge mistake). I understood that I could have gotten a better price elsewhere, but was sold on the idea that AAA Appliances would handle the scheduling of the delivery and the installation of the oven. I was even promised by the AAA Appliance's sales representative that I could be the first delivery of the day (9:00am) three days after I made the purchase. It sounded too good to be true, because it was too good to be true. On the scheduled delivery date, I took the day off from from work, but the installer never showed at 9am. I waited until 11:00am and then called AAA Appliances to see the status of the 9am delivery. Rather than offering to help get the status of the delivery, the AAA Appliance representative gave me the phone number of the installer and insisted I do the work of trying to locate him. I called the installer and left a message, but he never called me back. Thirty minutes later, I called AAA Appliances again and the person who answered the phone was rude and demanded to know, "Did you try to call him?" After I stated that I left a message, he agreed to try to called the installer. At 12:30pm, I finally got a call back from the installer, who said that he didn't have any help and would be unable to deliver the oven. The delivery was rescheduled a week later. On the 2nd (failed) delivery attempt and my second day off from work, I woke up to a text message from the installer stating that he was having car problems and would try to deliver later in the day. I walked to AAA Appliances to ask the delivery status. They were confused by the entire situation and had thought that the delivery was already made a week earlier (I don't understand how they could not have known that the oven was never delivered). When in the store, I was disappointed to hear AAA Appliances admit that they had problems with the installer in the past, to which I questioned why they were continuing to contract out work to an installer who has a history of being unreliable. At the 3rd attempt, the oven was delivered and installed and the installation fee was lowered from $250 to $200 to account for me being stood up on two different occasions. There were no issues with the installation, but a few days later I was walking on my street and noticed that the covers to my old oven were left on my neighbor's property. I visited AAA Appliances to discuss my overall experience and was disappointed by their response. First, the AAA Appliances representative excused the installer missing two scheduled delivery dates by pointing out that "He did a good job with the installation," as if this made it ok that he did not show up on two previous occasions. I explained that I would have paid double for the oven to be delivered on the original date so that I would not have had to miss a second day of work. Most disappointing, is that AAA Appliance did not take any responsibility for the nightmare experience. In fact, the sales representative even shifted some of the blame on me by pointing out the ridiculous detail that I had paid the installer directly and that because the work was contracted out, the store was not responsible for what happens with delivery and installation. This claim ignores the fact that AAA Appliance had chosen the installer for me and AAA was responsible for all aspects of coordinating the delivery and installation. Then, as if to justify my horrible experience, he offered to refund $30 from a burner cover that I had purchased separately. I was insulted by this offer and told AAA Appliances to keep the money. My experience proves that after an order is made with AAA Appliances, it is up to the customer to deal with any problems involving delivery and installation. Had I known this was the company's position, I would have saved a lot of money by purchasing the oven elsewhere and I would have hired someone to install it. read more

Easily one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. I wanted to support a local business while making a large purchase (washer and dryer) and was assured by the salesman that installation would be taken care of, including stacking the units and also assured that they would go a much better job than the big box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. Great, that's exactly what I wanted and I was happy to pay the same price as Lowe's and support a local business in my neighborhood. The day of delivery rolls around (one month later) and I've heard nothing, when I call to check I am told they don't deliver Mondays so we schedule the delivery and install for Thursday. Fine, I can wait 3 days. On Thurs a team of 3 guys arrives and brings the 2 units inside, but can't do the install because they're missing the part that connects the dryer to the wall. OK, I can get that part from Home Depot, and they agree to come back later than night or the next morning to finish the job. I find it odd that I was told everything would be taken care of for the installation and yet I wasn't told to get any specific parts in preparation for it. The next morning when I don't hear from the movers, I reach out to the one tech who left his number and he said AAA appliances was going to "take care of it". Then I call back AAA, who seem to know nothing about this. So begins multiple days of calling AAA and trying to get someone to finish the installation of the washer dryer which I had paid for installation of. I'm told I will be called back and I'm not called back - multiple times. I'm told that install is always done by an outside company and they can't get a hold of them. They offer to give me the outside company's number - How is that my problem when AAA sold me the units and charged me for delivery and install? If your outside company isn't doing their job maybe you shouldn't use them! Eventually I'm told someone will call me Monday, and guess what, no one calls me and I can't get a straight answer about who will finish this install and when. I ask why AAA can't they just send a couple of their staff to finish the install, after all they are AN APPLIANCE STORE, you would think they know how to install appliances - and on top of that my home is less than 2 miles away. I am told that they don't have staff to do this "you need two guys" and always use the outside contractors. Finally after telling AAA that this isn't a sustainable way to do business and I want my money back on the delivery install fee, they say they can actually send two of their guys and I got a "deal" getting $50 off when I made the purchase. Honestly I'd rather have paid the extra $50 and had the job done correctly than wait for nearly 2 weeks now. And implying I got a deal that I should be happy with is insulting. And now they suddenly have staff to do the install? I'm calling bullshit on this. So to recap: terrible communication and zero continuity in service, no offer to refund the delivery/install fee when the install was never finished, it's clear that they don't care about their customers and are just trying to make a sale no matter how much it screws over the customer. Save yourself 2 weeks of exasperation and just go to a big box store. read more

Stay away from this place. We tried to support them because they are local but they are rude and do not provide good customer service. We bought a stove from them two weeks ago for over a thousand dollars and then they told us we had to pay another $240 for delivery and hook up. OK we said. We are still waiting. The delivery people would not answer our calls. We called Triple A several times. Only one guy was halfway decent. The other one would hang up on us. Stay away. They don't deserve any business from the community and the only reason they are still in business is because they own the property. The show room is a mess, they just show you things from a monitor. You will do way better at Home Depot and that's saying a lot. read more

Needed window AC asap. Called him Monday asking for a specific unit in high demand. I see there are lots of bad reviews. For once we were lucky. Ordered a Speed Queen washer with a 5 year warranty and it was delivered on time and setup properly with new hoses. Warranty info came in the mail couple weeks later. We now have an issue with it 2 years later and I lost the receipt. Called AAA and within 3 minutes they emailed the original receipt so we can file a claim. I have no opinion on the warranty yet, but that's a third-party provided product, so not really AAA's responsibility. Satisfied with the entire process so far. read more

I've ordered from them a few times to replace appliances in my rental properties. I like many others wanted to help the little guy, the underdog, the David to Home Depot's Goliath, but unfortunately they did not deliver. The prices are not any better, the service is questionable and there delivery/installation is a ripoff. On multiple occasions I would have them try to raise the previously quoted delivery price. On one occasion they flat out refused to install the appliance because they did not feel comfortable doing so in a high rise building (which was disclosed to them upon ordering the appliance). Stay away and deal with the call centers of the larger companies. read more

If you are thinking of buying an appliance from this store, RUN, don't walk away!!! I wanted to support a local business that seemed to have good pricing, instead of Home Depot, etc., but my experience with AAA was incredibly frustrating and negative, particularly surrounding installation. Installation was almost impossible to schedule and then once we finally got it scheduled, the installation was a hack job. I had to hire someone from a different appliance company to come fix the major mistake AAA's installation guy, Alan, had made when installing and hooking up our brand Electrolux dryer. Save yourself the headaches and go to Yale or Home Depot. read more

Poor customer service. I ordered an in-wall air conditioner that they would install, and I was given a timeframe of somewhere from 9 - 1 pm. Not terribly specific, but they said they'd call 30 minutes before coming. 1 pm rolls around, still no sign of them. I call up the store, and I'm told that they're running late, and will show up around 2. First off, if you are running that late, you should be calling me, not the other way around. Second, I must have been, what, the 6th or 7th job on their list that day? There's no way they were getting to me before 11 am even if there were no delays... that sort of information would have been nice to know. FedEx has figured out how to track millions of packages essentially instantanously, yet this dufus company can't even master the basics of scheduled appointments. Screw them. read more

I am all about supporting locally owned and operated businesses but it makes me really mad when the businesses bank on that and provide horrible customer service ( let me correct that - no customer service). I bought a wall AC unit from them this summer. I was OK with them charging me a fee for delivery and installation because they said that the delivery guys were different from the installation guys, except they were not. The guys that brought the unit were the same that installed it and did a crappy job of doing so. I pointed out that there were several gaps on the wall due to lack of insulation and the guy actually told me that I should go buy the insulation myself - what? I just paid $100 on delivery and installation to be told this. So he put on a spare piece of insulation and quickly left. When it started getting cold I noticed a draft and realized that the whole bottom of the unit had not been sealed or insulated. The "installer" had simply put the unit on the hole in the wall. So I stopped at AAA appliances and was told to call the next day, I called twice and was told by a rude woman that someone would call me back to deal with this. No call. This was about a month ago. After all this I would not recommend this store unless you really need something right now and are willing to put up with the risk of things not going well at all. One last thing - the delivery guys have whistled at me. Not appropiate under any circumstances and this seems to be standard behavior at this place. read more

Recently we went into AAA Appliances against our better judgment from prior dealings, but we were greeted by a 5-star sales woman named Donna who really knows her stuff. Based on our interaction with her we decided we would give her the business and plunk down our 5K for a new stove, refrigerator, microwave, and hood. We setup delivery for the appliances and were excited to finally get them installed in the kitchen of our new home. From this moment forward is where no amount of 5-star service can help anyone. 1. Getting Shafted We ended up paying much more for the installation of our appliances than what we had paid in the store, similar to moving companies who get you into a corner and you have not choice but pay the extra. Suddenly we were faced with paying $30 for the water hook up to the refrigerator, next they wanted another $50 to take down the under-counter mounted microwave, and the handles of the refrigerator were on the wrong side for our use and they almost didn't rectify this issue. Now, when we called and asked if this is customary, or if we were getting shafted, they merely answered questions with a question and never directly addressed this issue. I certainly don't know everything and extra fees always appear out of no where, but considering we already paid for the installation, and delivery of our new appliances, and removal of our old appliances, don't you think they could have addressed any 'hidden' fees at this point? 2. Kiss the new hardwood floors goodbye We have only lived in this house for 2 months, and the hardwood floors are new and in perfect condition. Again, I realize that your moving heavy appliances around the house and you have to expect some wear and tear. However, the amount of wear and tear can certainly be compensated for with adequate care taken by the delivery people. A rug, a towel, maybe even some of those socks that go over your boots so you don't leave dirt in people's carpets. I'm just saying. We decided we would call and voice our concerns over some rather large scrapes in the floor, and to check on point number 1 above, and we were promptly greeted by a caustic man who's best response is that he didn't do anything. More to the point, that he himself as a person did not do anything to cause the damage to our floors. That's a rather individualistic approach to working in a business with a group of people, raise another red flag for this business. Finally, he told us that this is why they have insurance. I'm sure we will need to round the troops in order to enter and win this unnecessary battle. In summary, our appliances are top-notch and I believe we were steered in the right direction regarding the purchases we made. However the installation and delivery has left a sour taste in our mouths. My advice is to save up that extra couple hundred dollars for the appliances you want and go somewhere that is upfront and understands the installation and delivery side of their business. -WWWWTY (We Wish We Went To Yale) read more

More like FFF. Roommate missed 4 hours of work to sit around waiting for these guys on 2 separate occasions. They missed two appointments, got our phone numbers screwed up, and when we had the audacity to complain about the service, they told us to f*** off and get someone else to help. Couldn't have been any LESS professional. The message is clear, don't depend on these shmucks. read more

I ordered about $7,000 worth of kitchen stuff from these guys and experienced the following - pick-up items not at the store on the promised day, one appliance was delivered in the wrong finish, and numerous calls not returned despite my being assured by their salespeople that they would "get right back to me." Also, several of the items I purchased went on sale the week after I bought them. I wondered if AAA offered price protection in such cases so I called AAA's sales guy four times. Each time I was told that he would look into it. No answer yet. Er, I guess I have my answer. It's a shame - I bought other appliances from AAA working with Donna (amazing customer service but she no longer works there) and had nothing but good experiences. Now, I'd just as soon drive the extra distance to Yale and pay a bit more but rest assured that my experience will be hassle-free. read more

We bought all our appliances through AAA as recommended by our contractor. That was fine. Their service is awful. Do not walk, do not saunter, do not dilly dally. What you need to do is run, flat-out, away from this place. If you don't, if you are seduced by the helpful salespeople, if you have noble intentions to support local business, then you may wind up like me: with a beautiful stove that was brutally dented in delivery. Years later, I look at the ecosystem of food detritus, the crumb village that's sprung up between the counter and the sadly inappropriate concavity of my stove, the depth of which will only be explored if I get a new stove or maybe die and have my heirs renovate, or perhaps will become evident if sedimentation causes the crumb ridge to rise up to, or above, counter level, and you'll rue. I rue the decision not to send the stove back. We had been living without a working kitchen for so long, I was desperate for my new stove. Silly me. What's really regrettable was this happened not once, but twice. The second time, being an idiot, or perhaps having a truly bad memory, I bought a dishwasher, discounted due to what the salesman described as minor cosmetic blemishes. Well, who am I to turn my nose up at scratches? When it was delivered, the damage turned out to be more along the lines of what you'd get on a car that's been in a demolition derby. It was a challenge to install, let's put it that way. If I recall correctly, it required a prybar. Beyond the rock-em sock-em robot style, the timing of deliveries is done as if the customer's days are spent sipping mai tais beside her pool. A window of time? Ha haha. How very 99% of you. Think you'll get it early in the day, given that you live a 5-minute walk from the joint? O, you fool. Place makes me shudder. read more

This place has a split personality. I've bought a few appliances here and had very good experiences with both sales and delivery people. I'd give the sales four stars. But do not, do not EVER use them for appliance repair. I could put up with the horrible customer service if the work were competent; I could put up with shoddy work if the people were at least nice. I honestly have no idea how this part of the business stays operational. It is certainly the worst business in Jamaica Plain. Negative one star for the appliance repair. read more

Called to make an appointment to service an oven that wouldn't light. On the day of the appointment, the repair guy was supposed to show up between 9 and 10:30. At 11, I call the office and the guy who answered had no clue where the job log was and couldn't even find a record of the appointment. So after fumbling around for several minutes he says "will have to call you back" and hangs up. Didn't even ask for my number. A few mins later the tech calls to say he's running late, but he'd be over in 15-20 mins. He finally arrives at 11:30, quickly takes the cover of the oven off and says "sorry, I don't have this type of igniter in stock, will have to order it". My response was, "I told you the make and model of the oven so why couldn't you have ordered the part ahead of time?" He shrugged and said he'd call back. (Btw, the dude reeked of stale cigarettes!) Next day, he calls and we make an appointment for Saturday. On Saturday some flunkie from the office calls to tell me the tech can't come, and the can't send anyone else. She can't reschedule either, telling me I have to call on Monday. And when I inquire about getting my deposit back, she says "what deposit?" Now I've got to pay my bank to stop the check! I am beyond frustrated with these people. After shopping around between the local and big box stores, I decided to do the right thing and go with the small guy. I figured that the dishwasher install did something to it. I called AAA, and someone took down my info and said that they would get back to me. A week later, and NOTHING! I have called every day, left messages, sent emails, and today the phone would not even ring. It's been over a year now and I'm still waiting on a refund check for one my appliances that they delivered damaged. I've made peace with the fact that I'm probably never going to get it but I just wanted to let others know my experience. As soon as the refrigerator was delivered I called the store to inquire about it. They asked me to send a picture of the damage, which really was no biggie because it's in the back of the fridge but it's the principle of it all, I spent about $4K on all new appliances, I expect pristine condition. After seeing the pics they told me they'd mail me $100 refund check for it, the store manager had to be the one to do it-Great!.....except it never came. I went down to the store in person (TWICE) they said oh I'm sorry you should've gotten it by now-Never did. I called once more, stopped by the store again but it was closed before I gave up. Unfortunately, like so many other reviewers here, I wanted to support a small, local business. And because we had done business with them before, I didn't do my due diligence and read reviews until after things started going wrong. I realized we had done business with them a long time ago, when we lived in JP. Well, that was then, this is now, and now there is no culture of customer service, no accountability, and no effort or apology when they make a mistake. It's too bad. I still think it's the right idea to support local businesses when possible, but always read the reviews first. We purchased items from this store when we bought our home back in 2004; so this year, we needed to replace appliances and our first thought was let's go back to our neighborhood store. Bad, bad, bad idea to think that service is the same. We purchased 4 items - refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer. It took more than a month to deliver the products when 2 - 3 weeks were offered. They suggested a company to install the stove, washer and dryers, we contacted them and never heard back from them. The products arrived but the stove could no be installed because the company never sent the specialist to install it; so for a week we had 2 stoves - the new one in the middle of the kitchen and the old one. Finally, a couple of days later it was installed. The washer and dryer were installed the same day as the stove so for the same period of time we could not wash or dry clothes. After the washer was installed we realized that it has been scratched in the front when it was delivered. The refrigerator was installed but the door open on the wrong side - my husband tried to change the door but he could not do it on that particular refrigerator. So we are still (2 months after) waiting for the correct refrigerator to be delivered - we were specific about the door. They sell really well but the customer service and communication are terrible. Many, many calls and e-mails after and we still do not have the right refrigerator and our new washer is scratched. We love JP, we love supporting small and community businesses but honestly AAA needs to either change management or move their business to another neighborhood. The Jamaica Plain Community is extraordinary and supportive so it does not deserve this type of businesses. Not happy with their customer service at all! I bought a washer/dryer from AAA two years ago with a full warranty. The handle broke through my own fault. I contacted AAA in a scramble when our refrigerator stopped working. They came to check it, and gave me an estimate of 3-5 days for the parts to arrive. I waited a week before I called them back, and they said they were "still waiting for the parts." When I called back a week later, they said they were still waiting for one part that wasn't actually necessary for the repair -- it was an additional but not important touchup to the fridge that they said they would do as long as they were working on it. There was no indication of when this part was going to arrive, but at no point did anyone think to call me or check about the fact that we were without a refrigerator for 2 weeks in a July heat wave. When I finally got them to agree to come out and fix fridge with the parts they had, they blamed me for not letting the fridge thaw out correctly before they arrived, even though no had instructed me on this. To top it off, they melted some of the plastic with a hair dryer when trying to thaw out the freezer, and had the audacity to blame me even though I was sitting right there when it happened. These guys are a joke. I may as well have just bought a new refrigerator from the start, and definitely not from them. read more

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately after reading other reviews), I won't be giving these folks any of my business. I went in on Monday looking for a new belt for my washer. The woman says 'sorry, he's not in today. he'll be here tomorrow.' Not once did they offer to take a note about what I needed or even my phone number so someone could call me. Needless to say we are about to embark on buying all new appliances for a large home and at least we learned through our rental home that we will NEVER buy anything from AAA appliance. There is a reason the others have gotten great reviews and the majority of reviews of AAA are 1 star. read more

I do not recommend the service department at AAA! A repairman from AAA came over to look at my fridge water dispenser which was not working. He told me he needed to order a part for me and they called back to schedule an appointment to install it with a three hour window (from 1-4). At around 4:15 I called to find out where they were, and I was told that they were running late, and I would have to reschedule. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and reschedule and the same exact thing happened. Now I have wasted 2 afternoons waiting for them, and my fridge is still broken. Needless to say I am finding someone else for the repair job. read more
