I'm new to the area and picked a AAA certified car care center hoping for good service. I was there for 2 hours for an oil change that costs $85. Yes they rotated the tires along with it but I didn't need that done. Also, they spend so much time inspecting my car and then telling me what needed to be done. I didn't need that either. Went here for a car inspection. Told that car didn't pass inspection because windshield wipers were streaking. Are they kidding?!?! Either we pay $60 to have replaced or replace ourselves and have to bring the car back. I just used wipers this morning due to mist - wasn't an issue then. I have used AAA in Apex Peakway a few times. Previously, they have not been great, but on par with other shops. Their prices have be on par as well. In my last visit: 1. They forgot to do my state inspection, 2. I had asked for a tire rotation which they said they did. But I noticed my leaking tire was still the rear back one like before the rotation which means they lied about rotating the tires. I confirmed this at the tire shop, the tread in the front was more work, no rotation took place. 3. The alignment left my camber measurement red and their answer was that tire alignments can't fix camber, 4. They "were not able to" check my transmission fluid but recommended a "transmission shop" because the "tech saw some fluid by the axle". I have no transmission fluid leaking in my garage... Most shops are equally bad nowadays, I know. But I will try another one next time. read more

I purchased tires online and it gave me an option of places to have them delivered to for installation. AAA Auto Repair of Apex, NC was closest to my residence so I picked them. I dropped my car off the night before as agreed upon with the Service Advisor. Was told that I'd get a phone call when it was done. I waited and had not received a phone call, so I call them. Advisor told me that the tires were installed and that he'd called me and left a message. "NOT"!! Said that I needed an alignment and that the technician was just waiting on my approval. I had just gotten an alignment, and told the advisor as such. The Advisor told Me that I could pick up my vehicle in an hour. The Technician would have to get my vehicle back together as he was all prepared for doing my alignment. Upon picking up my vehicle, my steering wheel was not centered. The technician had messed that up. when I'm going straight, my steering wheel is at about 10:30 instead of straight up and down like 12:00. I also now have a major steering leak from my power steering return hose. No leak prior to dropping my car off for tires. Upon getting my hose replaced, the hose had been sliced. Not saying that anyone did that, but really?!! My car is 23 years old, but it's my Sunday driver and only has 69k miles on it. It's in immaculate condition and I'm pissed. I'll NEVER USE AAA AUTO SERVICE IN APEX, NC EVER AGAIN!!! I've been in the automotive sales and repair industry for decades. This is inexcusable!!! read more

Dropped my car off Friday morning. They called Saturday morning (today) and told me the catalytic converter needed to be replaced, but they wouldn't be able to fix it until Monday because the catalytic converter needed to be delivered and the warehouse doesn't deliver on Saturdays. They called me this afternoon and told me that they were able to go to the warehouse themselves to pick up the part and fix it that day. I typically go here for car stuff and they've always been awesome, but this experience truly showed that these guys go above and beyond to ensure great service. Thank you AAA Apex! read more

This is my second time getting my car service at this location. The first time I went I gave them a 5 star, my service writer was Jason Johnson, he was great. Very nice and professional, took the time to explain to me what needs to be done, they did the multi point inspection and recommended that I do the "fuel system throttle body service" and I agreed to do it the next time I come in. This time I'm giving them 2 stars. My service writer was Al Labriola. He wasn't nice! The first thing he said to me was "well we are very busy today!" I was like ok but I have an appointment that I made over a week ago! Then he didn't do the multipoint inspection! And I just had my car serviced last weekend because I have a road trip this weekend and my AC died on me! I guess that could have been prevented if that person actually did his job. Not only that, he did recommend the fule system throttle body service that was recommended to me last time. He just wanted to get me out of there. All of that and I'm AAA member!! So the take home message don't let Al Labriola do your service, he is rude, doesn't care about customers! It's a great location if Johnson is doing your service. read more

I took my Dodge Durango here after the check engine light came on (Code P0301). After charging $150 for diagnostic services, the shop recommended tune-up service (spark plugs replacement), injector wire harness repair, and a complete fuel injector and induction system cleaning. I received a call about 3 days later that all work had been completed and car is good to go. I picked it up after paying the total bill of $1,477.69. I barely drove a mile after picking up before the check engine light came back on, but not only that, the car shook/trembled in traffic every time I stepped on the brake or put the car in reverse. This is not something I had experienced with this car before going into the service repair at AAA Apex Pkwy. I immediately turned around and returned the car to the shop. Well, ten days later, I got another call that vehicle had been checked and test-driven multiple times; everything looked good and was ready for pickup. About driving about 9 miles on that same day, the check engine light came back on again (same issues) and I had to tow car back to the AAA - Apex Pwky. All in all, after almost two and half weeks of holding my car, I finally got a call from the shop that they cannot figure out the issue and that I need to take the car to an electronic shop or the dealer. I went to the car care center yesterday for an oil change and they tried to sell me car services that I did not need. They told me that I needed new breaks, etc. all totally around $900. I took my car to the dealership today and they showed me that this information is wrong. They tried to scare me into buying new break pads and the dealership said that the numbers they gave me for my break pads were way off. They also drained my car battery in an attempt to sell me a new one. I had not had any battery problems until being at AAA. Then at AAA my car battery was dead in the parking lot! Now that it has been drained, it is not the same, so I actually do need a new car battery. They should be replacing my battery since they killed it. I don't think they would have done all of the garbage to my husband, so ladies do not go here. I would recommend steering clear of this place as they are just trying to oversell you and do more harm that good to your car. read more

I decided to take advantage of their $49.99 synthetic oil change special for our 2010 Honda Insight EX . They were able to communicate with me well (text and email) leading up to a finish time, but I was surprised when the final bill was $59.99. I asked what else was charged and the service attendant, Mark Stevens, stated an oil disposal fee was assessed. I looked at the $5.20 fee on the receipt which stated "Supplies". Obviously, this is a "slop" fee that is not included in the advertised price. Sadly, I felt ripped off because I didn't get the deal I wanted to and now they lost my business and others from this report. Schedule the trip through Apex AAA and had to cancel due to a death in the family. Luckily I purchased insurance for my flights and reservations. During a time in which I was dealing with a lot of issues due to the death in the family member agent Dane Goodlin took it upon him self to process my claim to the insurance. I have been to this location before and was taken care of by Gia. It was a great experience. I even wrote a great review. I took my car back to have the two front tires replaced. My truck went in with no problems and was not registering any messages. When I picked up the truck and drove it for a block the message comes on, Low tire pressure. I brought it back and was told to bringing it back next Saturday at 9:30am. I brought it back and was told the issue was resolved and the message was gone. I drove it for about a block and message went back on. Now the message that appeared was Very low tire pressure. The tire pressure was checked by Ben the mechanic. He was kind and answered all my questions. I was told to bring the truck back. I brought the truck back and was told they needed to do another test. Long story short after bringing the truck back three times, the message was still on. This time I was told there is nothing they can do. The two gentlemen treated me as if my what was something that I had done. They even whispered, Hey, this lady doesn't want to pay. WHAT!!! I then was told there is nothing they can do, that I should bring the truck, which is a Volvo to a Volvo dealer. Both gentlemen treated me as if I was bothering them and wasting their time with my questions. I will never go back and will continue to share my story all over the media. I was treated as if I was some woman who didn't know anything about what was going on and was bothering these employees. As I walked out they kept talking about me. I would leave a negative review if I could. I got a check engine light and I took it to autozone to diagnose it. They told me it was the crank shaft sensor and a can shaft sensor failure. I took it to AAA to get a second opinion. I told Larry that this is what Autozone told me and Larry told me they don't know what they were doing and their diagnostic's took is a hack. He seemed like an honest guy so I told him to run the test for 100+ dollars. They diagnosed it as a cam shaft sensor failure and Larry told me that I should do all this other work on the car. The total cost came out to 1700 dollars. Got it back the next day the check engine light came back on and the car still had throttle response issue. After 2 days of diagnoses they are now telling me that I have to take it to the dealership because they don't feel comfortable addressing the issue!? Why didn't you day that $1700 ago!? There is nothing they are going to do about it, not one cent of refund and they are blaming the car. Isn't this what I came and spent $1700 for? So you can fix it? If this was medicine they would be sued in a heartbeat for malpractice! $1700 dollars and 5 days without my car and the car's problem is exactly as it was before. I will consult a lawyer and may sue to get my money back since they aren't willing to do anything for me. Don't trust anything Larry says. read more

Don't waste your time! We had a scheduled appt to get an inspection done. There was no line at the front counter, so I stood waiting. After five full minutes with neither of the two desk clerks even ACKNOWLEDGING that I was standing there, I left. As I walked out, someone yelled, "SORRY, LADY!" Out of courtesy, I called to let them know that we would not be keeping the appt. The manager was rude. It lines up with their overall lack of care for customers. You can get inspections done almost anywhere -- why spend any money with people who behave badly?? read more

Took my son's older 2004 Impala car with alot of miles here for an inspection, and it turned out to be a nightmare ! Apparently, they are looking for ways to make money off of older cars by flunking them during the inspection and then requiring the customer to make repairs to pass. After inspection, there was an issue with the emissions, which I agree was a problem, but they also found several other safety issues that were not a real safety problem. The first was yellowed headlight lenses, yet my son has been driving it without any issues. The 2nd was a problem with the wheel bearing play, about 1/8" at most with the tire on the car. Not a safety problem, since there were no issues with the tires being worn or steering, etc. So basically I was told that the inspection technician there was trained by DMV and that what he said goes, no matter how absurd. If I had a complaint, I could contact the DMV and have them inspect, etc. Which was impossible since my registration was going to expire in 2 days. So with little choice but to fix the failed safety issues, my son and I spent the whole weekend replacing a wheel bearing and cleaning headlights for NO REASON ! I recommend to avoid them at all costs since it is obvious that they are looking to make money on repairs -- hoping to find some unsuspecting customer that will agree to paying alot of money to repair their older car. BTW, I have filed a formal complaint with AAA in Charlotte, and also plan on filing one with the NC DMV...... read more

I have a 2009 SAAB and parts are getting harder and harder to find since SAAB went out of business years ago but the folks here at AAA Car Care Apex go above and beyond to get me back on the road. Scott Pacinelli in particular provides excellent customer service and has done a fantastic job of taking care of my vehicle over the years. Two strikes, you are OUT. Went for a routine oil change middle of last year, and when i drove off, there was clanging and banging. The kid did not replace the "skid plate / gravel plate" underneath my car properly (tossed out the bolts too). Drove back they offered me a free oil change next time. A few months later, went in to collect and they would not honor the promise as the old manager (Jason Johnson) was no longer there. I kicked up a little fire and they finally agreed (they called the old manager and he confirmed). Geez! So then, why i do not know...i asked them to replace my windshield wipers with a good pair. $99 later i got great wipers and a broken windshield (when they removed the wipers, the arm slammed down and broke the window. They did not own up that that. They said, "what proof did i have that it happened there"!!!!!! Asked for manager, blah blah and they agreed it was there fault. Fast forward to a week ago, went to the Honda dealership for a minor problem and had them put air in my tires. The gentleman asked me who did my tire rotation? I told them they did it at AAA Apex. He said none of the hubcaps were put on properly, they actually covered the air valve and the hubcaps were not entirely snapped on. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE. A bunch of idiots who know nothing about cars. Alternatively, I want to add that for years, while i lived in Cary, i used AAA Morrisville exclusively and thought the world of them. Beware of the deceptive upsell. Went for an oil change and asked for a standard 0w-20 oil change. Scott made it look like they only have three oil change packages. Good. Better and best. Little did I know that it is really an upsell to add their additives. They were being dishonest and instead of asking the customer if they need the additives they make it look like they have only 3 oil change packages and end up with a bill more than $70 for an oil change. The AAA in Apex is the worst. I have been to location twice in 6 days because they did repair the issue with my TPMs. The manager requested I come back again a third time to fix it. My thought is I paid you to fix the first time and gave you a second chance to fix it. This my 3rd time having an issue with location and I reported them twice to the General Manager. Please don't go that location it not worth it. Now I have to go somewhere else and spend more money. They should just fire the entire office and start over. read more

I can not rave more about the care and kindness I received from AAA. Connie drove out to my house to help me break into my rental car to retrieve the lost keys... only to discover they were NOT in the car, but in an old sweatshirt of my husbands I had been wearing it when I was driving last. I figured this out when I went to put on the old sweatshirt in order to search my trash for the keys! Back to AAA - Connie came out in the pouring rain and expertly found a way in the car with zero damage and brilliant precision. She was my angel for the day - helping me set up a new AAA account for the next year with better benefits at a great price. A couple of days ago I scheduled an appt just for an oil change. Got there at 5pm and spoke to the gentleman at the counter that I had an appt. I gave him my information and proceeded to the waiting area. Almost an hour later he tells me there is a problem with my car and takes me to the shop to a car that is not mine. I state this is not my car and everyone looked confused, the mechanic goes well where is your car and I just shrug. He then asks me for my car keys that I have him when I first walked in. They proceeded to ask me if I was sure that was not my car, um no sir I'm positive it's not my car!!! So after another hour my car is finally ready and there credit card machine doesn't work. He takes my info and says he will charge it tomorrow and gives me my invoice. After I leave they call my husband to ask for my plate info so they make sure they charge the right car...yikes!!!! Needless to say that will be my last time going there. Never had an appt that I had to wait 2 hours for. On a nicer note the guys really did seem nice but just a bit confused. read more

This was the absolute worst experience at a car center I have ever had. My car had to be towed here as it broke down nearby on a Saturday. AAA roadside assistance told me that this was the closest car center. They told me they wouldn't be able to look at it until Monday. When they called me on Monday, Scott and Phil both told me that I needed a new alternator, belt, cabin air filters, transmission fluid change, power steering flush/change, and engine coolant. When I told them I was debating on whether to not fix it because it was old and I had already put a lot of money into it this year, Scott talked me in to fixing it. I decided to only fix the alternator and belt to get it running and have my friend who is a mechanic look at it. Turns out, after my mechanic friend looked at it, that it was a broken head gasket (which they didn't mention at all), and that the transmission fluid was in fact fine, and the power steering fluid flush wasn't even possible in my model of car! They either straight up lied to me and talked me into spending $770 to fix something that actually wasn't going to fix my car and get it running, OR they are completely incompetent and didn't actually know what was wrong. My car ended up not turning on ever again 2 days after it left their shop. Now I have to junk it (which I could have done before spending $770 when they talked me into fixing it), and have no trade in. I am extremely unsatisfied with this place, and would caution anyone taking their car here. read more

Scott the guy at the counter was awesome! He knows exactly what's going on and he works very quickly. All I can say is he is very professional and friendly and has common sense that is required to operate at such a high level. I came in on a Saturday to have a lawnmower tire replaced and one guy at the counter said it couldn't be done and Scott said he could do it in about five minutes. So I set down to get a cup of coffee and didn't even get my first sip in and Scott was done with it already. So I needed some more service today a few weeks down the line on my wife's Ford Explorer and I thought of scott, I gave him a call he set up the appointment and when I arrived my work order was already there and ready and all I had to do was drop the keys. The service was simple enough, just an oil change. The person at the travel desk was nice as I was walking around, looking at the merchandise. The service desk was a different story. The person that waited on me clearly didn't want to be there, but he "did his job" and processed me through. The biggest disappointment was I was hoping AAA wouldn't be one of those places where you go in for an oil change and they "suggest" you need so much more. I was wrong. Over $1100 more for a $30 oil change. It was mainly as much his tone as what he said, just a small but noticeable hint of arrogance at times and "going through the motions". He wasn't ugly to me, and he did his job, but I'll go back when I have coupons to save money and endure the upsale, not because of the customer experience. read more

I visited this AAA location for a $19.95 oil change special. The next day I noticed an oil leak on my garage floor. I took my car to my regular mechanic and he determined that the oil drain plug had not been properly tightened. AAA has some valuable services, but I won't be visiting them for car care in the future. read more

We attempted to plan a trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons with Melissa. We sent an email with an outline of potential hotels, flight suggestions, dates etc. When we showed up for our meeting, we found that nothing had been done. Melissa wasn't qualified to do flights, she couldn't find the hotels and had us standing at her counter while she looked at her computer screen for an hour! My original review was going to be just for me but now this is for both me and my sister. I had and appointment and 3pm, and the next day she had one for 8am for inspections. I was there for an 1hr and 15min, she was there for 2hr and 15min. We have appointments, how is this a problem!? And on top of that a bunch of teenagers work back there. I watch this kid inspect every inch of my car for 45min and just walk slowly back and forth to his computer and talk with others. Then for both of us they told us things we could do for maintenance and if we wanted to get it done now. Um NO? That's not why we're here so don't even try it. NEVER AGAIN! Once car was done he explained what was checked and what should be done immediately and what could wait. Did not push to have work done which I appreciated. I wish they have something less than 1 star so I could give it. My father, a AAA Member also, went to this location for their $19.99 oil change special. Ha! Special alright. They told him the motor mounts in his Honda van were bad and dangerous but they happen to have the parts and they would 'cut him a break' and only charge $749.00 to replace them. He said no and took it to our mechanic. Just as we thought, No they were not bad and No they did not need replacing. It is bad enough they fly by night joints will rip you off, but when AAA wants to hose you down, even being a member, now that is terrible. Wow- this place went from a 0 to a hero! On my way down from college to visit my family my car broke down and I had my car towed here on Friday night. I was immediately worried because I have had many bad experiences here with the costumer service and also the speed of their service. Long story short Patrick was absolutely incredible and was able to fix my car in a couple hours so that I would be able to drive home for school even though they were slammed with work. Don't listen to past negative reviews- supposedly they fired everyone and started over. This place is now the real deal, 10/10! Thank you guys for being awesome! read more

My daughter was in for the weekend from UNCW when her cars coolant system warning light came on and car began to smoke. 12:00 PM SATURDAY we needed her car fixed before Sunday so she could drive back for classes on Monday. As new AAA member we went to AAA in Apex. We had the great fortune of being helped by Jason Johnson. After explaining our circumstance Jason went to work. He had the car immediately looked at. It was determined that her car needed coolant fans. Midday Saturday looking for parts for a 2002 Volkswagen as you might imagine wasn't very promising. But Jason got right on it. Making call after call until he found the part. Jason personally drove to pick the part up while he had the mechanics get the car ready for the replacement. Shop closes at 4:00 on Saturday but that was zero hindrance to Jason's determination to get this done. Finally just before 4:00 he returned with the part. He had his mechanics stay well past 4:00 until past 6:30 to complete the repair which by the way included needed a new reservoir tank which they found out after and did not stop until everything was done. Jason himself stayed until after 7:30 to allow my daughter to drive the car for a while and bring it back so he could personally make sure the repair was good. From the very beginning Jason went above and beyond. His only concern was that my daughter be able to safely drive back to Wilmington without missing any classes. Jason Johnson is a class act and great ambassador for AAA. Our experience has certainly made us AAA users for life. Thank you Jason Johnson and your staff for making this one of the best displays of customer CARE we've ever experienced. read more
