I recently bought sod from American Sod Company and had it delivered on June 20th. A couple of…read moreyears ago, I ordered from them for another project and had a great experience. The ordering process was easy, the delivery went smoothly, and the sod was excellent. Because of that, I didn't hesitate to order from them again. We recently started redoing our backyard and needed more sod. My landscaper recommended West Coast Turf, so I started reading reviews. I noticed that American Sod Company had several recent reviews about poor-quality sod being delivered. I figured those were probably isolated issues since I had such a positive experience before, and their price was better, so I decided to order from them again. On the day of the delivery, I asked the driver when the sod had been harvested. He told me it was cut the day before at around 2:00 p.m. As we started installing it, we noticed that one pallet looked fresh while the other clearly did not. Some pieces were so dried out that they literally fell apart in our hands. We installed most of it because we had already started the project, and luckily I had ordered extra sod, so we were able to make it work. After thinking about it for a few days, I decided to contact American Sod Company because I ordered directly from them expecting fresh sod, and what I received was not acceptable. I called the following Monday, and the woman I spoke with said it had been extremely hot the day the sod was cut, so it probably dried out. I told her there was no way it could have gotten that dried out in just one day. She asked me to email photos and explain the issue, saying a manager would get back to me. Nobody ever contacted me, so I followed up again. This time I spoke with the assistant manager, who also said she would get back to me. After not hearing anything, I called again. She said she had spoken with the manager, who was out of town, and that they had approved a refund for one pallet. She told me it would take a few days. About a week went by with no refund, so I contacted them again. This time I was told the person who processes refunds was out for the Fourth of July holiday, so it would take a little longer. As of today, July 20, I'm still waiting for the refund. At this point, I decided to contact my credit card company for help. It's disappointing because my first experience with American Sod Company was excellent, which is why I chose them again. Unfortunately, this experience has been completely different. Between the poor-quality sod, the lack of follow-up, and still not receiving the promised refund a month later, I can't recommend them. Looking back, I wish I had gone with West Coast Turf instead.

my contractor brother-in-law's motto could be "well begun's the most work you can hope for outta me…read more..." so, now that we've hired a guy to finish one more of the many, many construction/remodeling projects he started, got paid for but never, ever got around to actually finishing (in this particular case patching and painting an exterior wall he tore up trying to resolve a plumbing issue which also required hiring a plumber to fix), i found myself trucking out to SAN MARCOS for mortar and stucco. any task requiring tools other than a spatula or kitchen knife is out of my comfort zone and these guys were very, very helpful mostly in a bemused sort of way -- not that i blame them as clueless as i am it's reasonable they found my feeble attempts at having anything to do with a construction project amusing. the good news is now, thanks to a little help from FREE BUILDERS SUPPLY and our very handy handyman, five years after the demo portion of the assault on the wall, our home is whole again.

Unfortunately, both Lowes and Home Depot were out at most of the stores in San Diego. I called around and found it at Free Builders. When I arrived I went straight to the counter and asked for the product. The less than friendly worker started to write up a ticket for the purchase. Now standard concrete is about $4.00 a bag and this stuff runs about $14.00 but it's better for what I was using it for and I didn't need much so worth the extra cost. But I noticed he wrote about $30.00 on his little ticket for one bag of the stuff. I asked if that was what they were charging and when he confirmed it I said "Thanks Anyway" and walked out. As I leaving the parking lot, another guy came out and said...."Oooops it's $21.00 a bag. We made a mistake" I kept driving. Now I'm a reasonable woman and I understand that a mom and pop shop does not get the same discounts as the big box stores so I expect to pay a bit more. But not double! Maybe it was an innocent mistake. Or maybe they saw a woman walk through the door in a dress and flip-flops asking for one bag of concrete and assumed that she just "don't know shit" about the cost of building materials. You decide. As for me, I don't do business with scammers.

I normally do not write negative reviews, but after multiple experiences with Johnson Interior, I…read morefeel people should know what happened. About 10 years ago, I purchased a petite lift chair for my mother, who was 85 years old and about 155 lbs . The chair was wonderful -- comfortable, appropriately sized for a small person, and it lasted for years. My mother is now 95 years old, on hospice, weighs about 90 pounds. When Johnson interior sent me an email saying that they were having a sale I decided to buy my mom the chair again for her body size now. ecause the original chair worked so well, I contacted Johnson Interior to purchase the exact same chair again. Oh When I called, I specifically asked for the same model. When I went into the store to complete the paperwork, the owner showed me color options, including a gray chair color . I agreed to the gray color, believing it was simply the same model petite chair originally purchased. What was delivered was completely different. The new chair is oversized and appears designed for a much larger person It said bariatric size-- not for a frail hospice patient. My mother sinks into it, and the material traps heat. One day when I was caring for her myself and lifted her out of the chair, her back was completely drenched in sweat and her shirt smelt like gas and peroxide. She has bumps on the back of her hair line and her eyes had pink circles around them . When I contacted Johnson Interior, instead of helping resolve the issue directly, I was told I had to deal with the manufacturer myself because "too much time had passed." The problem is, I did not discover how bad the chair truly was until I personally cared for my mother for an afternoon Unfortunately, this was not my first difficult experience with this company. I also purchased a mattress from them that was supposed to be medium firm, but the wrong mattress was delivered. On top of that, finally they picked up the mattress and delivered a firm mattress. Upon receiving the Firm mattress they delivered it took off the cover and then it's the second bedroom so when I went in there like a day later it smelt so bad so I contacted the company and said that it smelt really bad . it had a strong chemical/plastic odor. Again, Johnson Interior directed me to handle the problem with the manufacturer myself. I had to file claims, coordinate inspections, and spend valuable time dealing with the issue while also working full-time and caring for my mother on hospice. Eventually, the manufacturer's inspector confirmed the mattress was defective, and I finally received a refund. My frustration is simple: when a business sells a product, they should stand behind it and help their customers when something goes wrong. Customers should not be forced to chase manufacturers, file claims, and manage the entire process themselves. Caring for a loved one on hospice is already emotionally and physically exhausting. These situations added unnecessary stress during a very difficult time. Based on my experiences, I would not recommend Johnson Interior. I would give no stars but it's not possible to do that. What would be improved how about good customer service and giving grace to people who have busy lives and being honest.

Warning to Potential Clients:…read more I'm writing this review to share my unfortunate experience with Family Estate Services--not out of anger, but to help others avoid the same issues I faced. I only received the payment I was owed after threatening legal action, which should never be necessary in a professional business relationship. Initially, Lisa presented herself as trustworthy, which led me to feel comfortable giving her access to my home while I was out of state for an estate sale. Unfortunately, that trust was seriously violated. Without my permission, her team used my appliances, causing a washing machine overflow that flooded my garage. I returned to find further damage, including a metal salt shaker cap jammed in the garbage disposal and adhesive Velcro stuck to a windowpane. None of this was reported or approved. A contractor who was working on-site informed me that a young male staff member urinated on the bathroom floor--something he had to personally bring to Lisa's attention to be cleaned. Both bathrooms were left filthy when I returned. More concerning was the inappropriate and unwanted behavior of an older male employee, who made advances toward me. I made it clear to Lisa that he was not to return to my property. Looking back, I regret not ending the contract then. I strongly caution other women--regardless of marital status--not to be alone with any male employee from this company. After the estate sale, Lisa repeatedly delayed payment with excuse after excuse: she thought her husband mailed the check, she was in the hospital, her mother had an injury, complications with a family adoption, and so on. Despite my patience, it became clear--especially after reading similar reviews from past clients--that this was a pattern of avoidance and unprofessionalism. Lisa seemed to count on clients giving up. She took advantage of my understanding nature, and I felt manipulated, underpaid, and disrespected. Only after I threatened small claims court did I receive my payment. What started as a professional agreement became a deeply stressful and disappointing ordeal. I share this so others can make an informed decision and, hopefully, avoid going through what I did. Think twice before hiring this company. Sincerely, Dawn R.
