Patio area and fresh grass seed

Wilfredo and his team came out quickly to provide us with a free quote on patio and landscaping around our entire house in Winthrop. His prices are fair and he will happily provide his opinion on what you should and shouldn't do to find a balance between affordability and quality products/service. His team was quick to react when we found some surprises in the backyard and we were able to complete the work on-budget, despite some additional services provided. We would not hesitate to have them back for future work and recommend their services to others!

Front entrance with lighting in the new columns.

Wilfredo and his team were very professional and reasonable. I replaced two columns in my front entrance with natural stone slabs with concrete, demolished and rebuild two retaining walls in the side of my driveway while adding downspouts, and also replaced over 2,000+sq at 3 inches deep of asphalt driveway. The job was completed at the stated time frame and the manager, Wilfredo, was present during the whole duration of the project. My family and I are very happy with the results and will recommend AA & B Landscaping to anyone looking for a great price, good customer service and great results!

New patio, area for pool on the left, new fence, new plants, space for veggie garden on the right (didn't fit in the pic).

We hired AA&B in March 2021 to completely design & redo our back yard, and to rebuild our front walkway. It was a pretty big project. We had giant tree stumps to remove, asphalt to be ripped up, ground to be leveled, and a fence to be replaced. They built us a beautiful patio, created a level area for the pool, put up a new fence, rebuilt a pathway in the front with pavers, built a raised bed along the front walkway for flowers & the like, and even incorporated a space for a vegetable garden in the back. They helped us select and then planted all the trees and shrubs. I loved that they improved on our ideas - if I wanted something done that wasn't really doable or realistic for the space, Wilfredo found a way to adjust the idea to make it work. Wilfredo, Cesar and the rest of the team are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. They were neat, on time, and so pleasant. The only delay we had was the delivery of the fence, which was totally out of their control because of COVID, shipping delays, lack of materials due to demand, etc. Other than that 1 week fence delay, everything was done as promised & on time. I'm absolutely in love with our new & improved backyard. After plenty of experiences with disappointing contractors, it's extremely refreshing to have a company show up on time, do their jobs very well, and to be there if you have questions or issues after the fact. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat! Don't hesitate to use these guys - you wont regret it.

Jerry brings top notch service…read more My condo building had some water leaks in the basement, so we needed to waterproof the basement. Originally, I thought patching the inside of the basement would suffice. I found Complete Paving & Masonry on Yelp, and reached out; Jerry responded very quickly and was able to come by to provide a visual inspection and a quote. He recommended that work needs to be done on the outside in order to fix the inside. We took a walk around the outside and he provided points of what work needed to be done. Essentially, he recommended to dig up the dirt around the foundation; patch and seal the foundation; put in some gravel and then cover it up with dirt. This would help prevent water from leaking through the foundation into the basement/garage. After conversing with my fellow condo neighbor, we hired Jerry's team to do the work. Within a week, they were able to come on site and start the work. It took them 4 days to do the work (original quote was 3-5 days). Jerry and his team did a magnificent job. They went above and beyond the original estimate's work at no extra charge to improve the water flow surrounding the condo. They also did some additional patch work on the outside of the condo. When the job was completed, Jerry walked me through everything his team did and why it was done, so I was able to understand the reason for the work. Jerry is friendly, honest, and provides top notch service. I highly recommend his team for any mason work.

Yesterday the crew was here for the recent job of removing concrete landing step ( which started to fall apart during the winter) and replacing it with a granite step. We are very happy with all the jobs. Gerry and the crew were quick and efficient. Do not hesitate to ask for a quote and trust in this company.

They also adjusted on the fly and we able to make a custom solution for us with beautiful wood railings with aluminum balusters. We've gotten multiple compliments from friends how sharp it looks. We have two small kids and were very concerned to be going into winter without railings (we are 33 steps from the street). Jeff was able to squeeze us in before the end of season. Riccardo and his team were out in the freezing temps finishing the railings. Everything came out great; communications were smooth throughout; and cleanup was perfect. I'd highly recommend this company - we plan to use them for home improvement projects in the future.

Working with Masonworks has been a roller coaster. They are very, very good at the masonry aspect,…read morebut we had a negative experience with everything outside of the excellent stone walls and patio they built for us. They have built beautiful flat stone walls for us in our front and back yards. We were very impressed with them after the first job they did for us in our front yard a few years ago, so we did not even look at other companies when we wanted to spruce up our backyard this year. The garden walls they built in the backyard were once again beautiful. However, as a gardener, I was disappointed and frustrated by the following things: - Our contract included 50/50 loam compost for the new garden beds. During the job, we caught them filling the beds with the grass they had pulled up from our old lawn and asked them to stop doing that. - When I went to start planting, I found that the garden beds had only a layer of new soil but that my shovel quickly hit a lot of big rocks and uncovered old soil, debris, and trash. - They completely trampled and destroyed my established perennial garden, which was located in a garden bed above where the new beds were built. They also broke several pavers in a little garden path I had and removed them without replacing them. - They recommended microclover for my lawn and seeded it for us as part of the contract, but it grew in quite spotty despite us maintaining it properly with daily waterings. I contacted them about the first issue and their initial response was to tell me that the stones I was finding were part of the wall construction - this was not the case. They had someone come out to take a look and concluded that the soil did need to be replaced, which they finally did. It is much better now, though I still have found some large stones in it. However, in the process of solving that issue, they caused the second one - many of the perennials that my mother and I had worked to plant over the past four years were totally destroyed. They offered me a credit to compensate for the loss, or the option to have them reinstall new flowers, but by that point I just didn't want them near my garden anymore so accepted the credit. I didn't bother contacting them about the spotty lawn - I threw down some grass seeds yesterday to try and fill in the gaps. While I appreciated that they did eventually take steps to resolve the issues, I found it quite frustrating to have to keep reaching out just to get them to do what they really should have done in the first place. They never did a final walkthrough as I've seen other contractors do. No apology for destroying my garden. They have a Benjamin Franklin quote, "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten" - I definitely felt some of that bitterness throughout this process. My conclusion is that they are really excellent masons but do not understand or respect gardens. If you hire them, be prepared to have to deal with that.
