I really wanted to just give the team here at AA for being extreme professionals. I've been having some flooding issues during rain in our basement and sump pump doesn't solve it all. I reached out via Yelp and within hours I had a response and call set up to chat with them. I was able to be set up with a an appointment for someone to come out and inspect/free quote. The worker got over exactly around the time they said he would and gave me a thorough breakdown of exactly what the issue was, and how they would fix it if we decided to move forward. I haven't started the project just yet but will probably go with them when I do! Thanks again team. read more

Check the dates on their reviews; most are old. I called and scheduled a free estimate. A day later, they rescheduled because one estimator was out of town. The new appointment was for the next week. When the day came, NO SHOW. I called and the lady told me that their other estimator was in Florida and asked to reschedule again. I said no thank you. How can they not even get estimations scheduled right. It's your first impression with the customer. Also, if someone is dealing with a basement flooding issue, this is not the kind of response you'd want to deal with. Do not recommend. read more

Received an estimate and paid over $10K to waterproof basement (foundation leak) in February 2016. Biggest sell was the "Lifetime Guarantee" for materials and workmanship. Flooding immediately from the garage door. They refuse to fix it because Anne Arundel County installed the grate in front of the garage door, with a drain pipe leading to a sump pump just inside the garage. After 6 years of floods, I finally recognized the problem: Action had removed the drain pipe and replaced it with drain tile that cannot handle heavier rains, causing the grate to overflow and flood the garage. Action never documented their visits, so this summer I tried something different: I made an appointment saying I had additional work, not warranty work, done. When the inspector showed up, I let HIM identify the problem, pointing out the issue was the drain tile that replaced the County's pipe can't handle the load. The inspector then refused to honor the warranty--again--but offered to have an Action foreman and crew come out and "fix my problem" for $1,000 cash. Still nothing in writing. Wondering how "corporate" was implicated (was this unofficial policy--avoiding honoring Lifetime Guarantees, potentially saving tens of thousands in repeat work?, or would the owners be upset that its employees were performing unpermitted and unauthorized work for untaxed income?). I received a text with the name of the foreman coming on the weekend and waited. They arrived in company trucks and uniforms. I took pictures and told them to leave. I went to the police station and tried to file a complaint but they said to report it to the MHIC first. I did and, again, waited. Today, the MHIC rejected the complaint as being 3 years past the original work. Time to file that police complaint and hire an attorney. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I needed to address a problem in one corner of my basement before an appraiser came in for a refinance that was in process. I was very appreciative of the companies that responded and fit me into their busy schedules on very short notice. Jason from AA Action Waterproofing came by to give me an estimate for basement waterproofing. Two days earlier another company quoted $5,200 -- they would dig up a large bush and 2 smaller plants I had had for years (they would not replant) to put in two protective layers (one plastic, one asphalt) for my exterior basement wall, then replace the dirt and mulch. At this point, I was just hoping for a lower quote. Jason let me know 3 hours before his scheduled arrival that he would be running about 1-1/2 hours late because he needed to take his daughter to an appointment, and asked if that would be OK. I certainly respect anyone who puts family first, so it was not a problem. As soon as Jason arrived we went to the basement. He said water was not leaking in and there was just discoloration on the floor with some on the lower wall. All that was needed was to clean the walls, apply hydraulic cement where the floor meets the wall, then paint with DryLok, and I could do that myself. I already had a can of DryLok that had never been opened. He said there was no damage to the interior and exterior walls. He did say that during heavy rains there was one location where the downspout from my roof connects to the drain pipe that leaves my property where water could be released onto the ground, which should be addressed. I was so happy with his diagnosis that I wanted to pay for his call, but he refused. I'll take care of this before the appraiser arrives end of the week. Now just need to see what the appraiser says. read more

Jason Ruffner was honest gave us recommendations to simply fix the outdoor drain of our rain gutter down spouts. The last company wanted to install a full blown drainage system with sump pump for $12K, they had nice videos and scary pictures of homes that had serious water damage. Jason was honest enough to say that the repair we needed is not for his company and to hire a handyman to handle it. He said to call IF we need to go down the full blown drainage and sump pump route. One evening we were alarmed to discover a huge soggy patch in our basement carpeting being caused by a major water leak along the base of the wall. We soon discovered just how shady the waterproofing business is and why a company with integrity like AA Action is a treasure. The other firms that inspected our home tried to convince us the issue was hydrostatic pressure beneath the foundation - so they could sell us an expensive trench-and-sump pump solution (which would have required jack-hammering up our basement floor, rewiring and a host of other messy complications). Ron C. came out from AA Action and was a guardian angel in a time of distress. He very quickly (and correctly) assessed the problem was not hydrostatic pressure at all - but rather the simple result of poor backyard drainage and a long crack in the foundation wall. The fix was far quicker, cheaper and cleaner than what was being pitched by the other firms - and more importantly, it worked. Ron C. was extremely patient in explaining the issue and fix to us. He also made several visits to inspect the ongoing work and post-completion follow-up. He made himself available around-the-clock. He is responsive, extremely knowledgeable, and honest. He also genuinely cares about his customers - which is reflected in all his actions. He made a very stressful situation manageable and took great care of us every step of the way. We could not give a higher recommendation. (We are located in Maryland, not San Francisco) read more

AA Action installed a sump pump last year. They just came out for an annual maintenance appointment. Bill was very friendly and explained how everything was looking (so far so good!). He gave some recommendations for simple maintenance on my end to keep the pump working well. To date, we have not had any flooding issues at all and have all the peace of mind that you could ask for. Would highly recommend this company. read more

Once again, I had to have AA Action Waterproofing come out for an estimate due to water coming into basement in area which I did not have waterproofed last year. I am happy to report, once again, the stellar service that AA Action Waterproofing employees provided. Ron came to my home on a Friday evening after a very heavy storm to access the situation. I called Rhonda on Monday and was able to get a date for installation of the drainage system. Byron and his crew showed up this week and I must say they were timely, efficient , very professional and completed the job with little to no cleanup left for me to do. It has truly been a pleasure doing business with AA Action Waterproofing. Thanks to all of you for exemplary business practices and service. read more

Steve Williams inspected my basement for water leaks and we were very happy with the service. He gave us options to look into before any major work to be done. Great service and would recommend this company and Steve to anyone. Thank you Steve! read more

Jason from AA Action Waterproofing came out today to inspect for a small water leak into our basement. Within a few minutes, he noticed our downspout from our gutter became disconnected, and water was flowing against the foundation. He recommended getting the gutter system fixed, and left without accepting any compensation for coming out. Really appreciate the professional advice without any pressure to purchase a drainage system. Thank you! read more

We went with AA Action Waterproofing after it was recommended by two neighbors. Our basement had flooded after a storm. I was referred to Robert who notified me that the basement walls were damaged due to hydrostatic pressure and overall design flaw. We are currently renting out our home and Robert did an excellent job of coordinating with our tenants in getting the work done in a reasonable fasion. Our tenants notified us that the workers were very considerate and professional. What I would like to see improved is more communication with us and not just our tenants. It would also like more transparancy about the costs and work done. read more

AA came out to investigation a relatively minor moisture/efflorescence problem in my basement. They were honest, straightforward and recommended a few things I could do myself to mitigate the problem. That is the type of honesty that you would like from any contractor. I will definitely be recommending these guys to anyone with similar issues. read more

I had a small crack in my foundation and called a couple companies to come out and take a look. This was the only company that was completely honest about the issue and gave me the best way to fix it. No sales pitch and a quick an easy estimate. I highly recommend this company because of their honesty and ease of the estimate. They saved me thousands of dollars and I can't thank them enough for the free estimate read more

Writing an update and updating to 4/5 stars. I'd say 5/5 stars but for the point made in the first review. That said, these guys are reputable. They followed up with me, acknowledged the errors, and helped "make us whole" in terms of lost dollars in repair. That is to say, they owned their work. Mistakes can happen. And if I'm ever in need of an expert to dig into my foundation and mess with the structure of my home , I want to work with a shop that's (1) reputable and (2) will make it right if a mistake happens. I doubt this group messes up hardly at all. But when they do, what they demonstrated was ownership, responsiveness, making things right. I'd take them over another contractor any day given this - particularly for something invasive like a sump pump installation. Honestly, I'm impressed and grateful. read more

THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK! In July of 2014 I had the outside foundation of the back of my house dug out and waterproofed to prevent water leaking into my basement. In the spring of 2015 (10 months later) after all of the rain, I found that there still was a leak. I placed a call and got an appointment quickly and today I had five men show up promptly at 9:00 am and dig out another 10 feet of foundation in the opposite direction. The workers were timely, polite and neat. All of their hard work today was covered under the original cost of the job last year. Excellent guarantee! read more

I got an estimate and evaluation after damage to my foundation when the DC Water replaced a lead pipe. I wish I had asked AA Action Waterproofing evaluation and advice earlier. We had a very positive experience with AA Action, which was the third company to look at our basement to give a quote on waterproofing. The first company recommended digging down to the foundation outside for about $13k. The second company started talking to me about a sump pump before they even got downstairs. Jason from AA Action recommended to solve the problem with a gutter repair and awning installation to route water away from the foundation area where the water was entering. I greatly appreciated the honest advice and would not hesitate to do business with them in the future. read more

Rick was very professional and friendly and is a straight shooter. Rob, the estimator, absolutely knows the business and instilled a huge amount of confidence in us. The house had a lot of issues, but Rob never seemed overly alarmed, and dealt with the problems as a consummate pro. His knowledge of structural and water issues is very impressive and, even though we did not hire AA Action Waterproofing (resolved the issues with a common sense approach), I will not hesitate to recommend AA Action Waterproofing. read more

When this company first came out to my home (over a year ago) to do some waterproofing, I wasn't very pleased. They were hard to deal with and their work wasn't satisfactory. They seem to have made some changes with their crews and management was responsive to my concerns. The work that was done recently when I had more problems, was very well done with minimal disruption to my walls and floor. The foreman explained the entire process to me step-by-step and they were in and out in less than a day. read more

There are very few companies that are interested in doing what is best for the customer, not best for their bottom lime, and AA Action Waterproofing is one of them. Basement waterproofing is an incredibly daunting issue for most homeowners, you can't see what's wrong and you have to trust the person who is guiding you. This company is honest, straightforward and I feel they are trustworthy in the accuracy of the advice they give. I will be recommending this company to any friends who have waterpoofing issues. read more

Highly recommended. AA Action Waterproofing were great to work with. My house has has issues with flooding in my basement for years. They were punctual for the initial appointment/inspection and provided a thorough explanation of their solution to my problem. Within a few days of agreeing to the job, the waterproofing team completed the work. For the cost, it was great value for the quality of work. Again, highly recommended! read more

Best waterproofing company in MD. I contacted so many companies but AA Action stood out. They gave me good, honest advice, and did not try to sell me on things that I did not need. Bill and his staff did an excellent job installing a French drain, vapor barrier, and a dehumidifier in my basement. My basement is dry and looks great after their work. Bill gave is great advice. When AA Action Waterproofing came to my home, they came on time and cleaned up after they were done, leaving my basement cleaner than they left it. These guys were great to have over, they just did their work and answered any questions that I had. I would gladly recommend them to anyone who needs basement waterproofing. read more

We had a French drain system installed in our home. Our only regret was not doing it sooner. We received 3 quotes, and AA Action Waterproofing was the most up-front about what we really needed, as well as what we did not actually need. The estimate was honest, the scheduling was quick, and the installation only took two days. We had the system installed in April 2015 and it has worked like a charm. The sump is so quiet you can't hear it if you are standing on top of it. It is now February 2016, and we have been through torrential rains, huge snow storms, and threat of tornado - with no water, no leaks, no damp in the basement. We truly could not have been happier. There is also a guarantee that carriers over to future owners of the home. Highly recommend AA Action Waterproofing. read more

AMTH Leesburg, VA I called them after a long and difficult journey with our house, not even knowing if this type of company was what we needed. Jason R. came to my house within a couple days of the call. He did a thorough walk through of the entire house and answered all my questions. He determined we did not need the services of his company. I almost wished we did as my confidence in him and his honesty was so great, and we have not had much of that. My experiences with AA Action Waterproofing were excellent! My initial call with Rhonda, their office Administrator, proved that she was capable of answering all my questions regarding the company and their scope of services. Robert Chicherio, Senior Project Manager, came to my my home. He was professional, informative and incredibly detailed oriented. He was honest and gave me common sense solutions to my issue and explained at this time, no waterproofing was necessary, even though two other waterproofing contractors said otherwise. I plan to refer AA Action Waterproofing to my family and friends and definitely use them if I ever have a need in the future. Gwen S. Northern Baltimore County, Maryland read more

Jason came to evaluate basement mold and possible crawl space moisture problems. He was timely, courteous, and very informative. It turns out that our crawl space was fine, and he gave me a number of suggestions of what to do about the mold issue--all jobs for my HVAC guy and not for AA Action. So he didn't try to sell me something I didn't need: no sale for AA Action this time, but you can be sure that I will turn to them the next time I do need something done. Based on my experience I'd definitely recommend this company to others. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars, is because I haven't had any actual work done by them--yet. read more

Rob is knowledgeable and experienced. The job at my home required some changes in plannning and I was kept in the loop about the work and expenses at all times. Haven't had this company come out to do any work because I didn't get past the woman who answered the phone. I explained that my home had two issues that caused water damage and mold, upstairs in the kitchen (due to a leak from a dishwasher) and downstairs in the basement (due to groundwater coming in from a window well) and that we had a protocol from an industrial hygienist explaining the results of an air quality test and recommending remediation. She asked how big was the space because the company doesn't do small areas and the work had to meet their minimum threshold and "nobody's going to want to pay $3500 to have a little mold removed from their kitchen" and they wouldn't come out to have a spot of mold removed. I was a little surprised at her comments and questions because 1) I'd been calling around to see how quickly someone could come out because the protocol showed elevated levels of mold in the air and until then no one tried to talk me OUT of choosing their company, 2) nothing I'd told her at that point suggested I needed a "spot" removed, in fact it was the opposite and 3) nothing I said suggested that I couldn't or wouldn't be willing to pay their minimum amount to have the problem fixed. There were far too many assumptions with far too little information supporting them. In fact, we'd received a quote from a different company that exceeded $10k so we're weren't expecting to pay $50 to get the job done- we just needed a company that could start a little sooner. I was put off and ended the call. Their work may be spectacular but I couldn't get past the initial phone call. read more

There are high pressure sales companies and their there are water proofing experts. We had a moisture problem in our home at the bottom of a hill and I called three companies to come out and give their advise and estimates. One company, which had already done work in our home prior to us moving here and buying this home, sent a guy out telling me all this work that needed to be done and that the original work was faulty and needed to be replaced, NOT LOOKING at the notes and realizing THEY DID THE WORK and it was guaranteed. They call me everyday trying to get me to do the work. The other company was good but A Action Waterproofing sent George Hoody out, who is a true professional, expert and pioneer in the industry. He wasn't trying to sell me anything and merely gave me the advise that he didn't think much needed to be done. I have to tell you that since we've moved here, George is quite the exception than the rule. I truly have trust in this guy and appreciate his honesty and knowledge. read more
