Ok, the first mistake was mine. The wrong size doors. Of course they put them together before they figuring it out and it cost me $300. So get the new doors, they come (for another $600) to install them and the openers. The doors get installed, the openers dont. He tells me he will NOT install Genie garage door openers because he doesnt like them, they are "garbage" Whatever, pretty sure its not up to you what kind I buy, I am paying you to install them period. Since when do we have to clear what brand we buy with you? I am pretty sure its my house not yours. But whatever, I go bring them back and buy different openers. Yeah, now he wont answer my calls or messages and so refuses to finish the job. So I had to go with another company to come and install the openers, that was included in the price I paid him. Saved the Day! Prompt, professional, polite and reasonably priced. Robert saved us, because we have an extremely heavy cedar custom double garage door on a 2" thick commercial steel frame, so when our spring broke, it was impossible to lift the door. We were desperate with our cars stuck in the garage until Robert was able to replace the custom springs that A1 Garage Doors fortunately carried in its warehouse and was able to cut to order. Robert was so polite that he even removed his shoes without us asking when he entered our house to get to the garage. I am being really generous here by giving them one star. They do not even deserve this, the technicians are very rude and they quote something and you see a different breakdown on their receipt. They charged me a fuel surcharge of 10 dollars which was not mentioned at all in the beginning. They said their 20 dollars diagnosis fee will be waived if I get the repair done by them. And, the receipt says 159 dollars for labor, charged per hour, even though they were nearly there for about 15 mins. I asked them for a receipt for the parts, they said I will get everything in the email. But, email said set of end bearing plates cost $208, which in reality costs about 30dollars. Try somewhere else first. My garage door broke and I did some research online do see if it was a repair I can do myself. It turns out that the torsion spring broke and needed to be replaced. Everywhere I looked I was recommended against attempting to repair myself so I called A-1 Garage after getting a coupon in the mail. I said what was wrong and asked for an estimate. The guy said $100-$150 assuming it's only the torsion spring and nothing else. So I made an appointment for that Saturday. Saturday comes and goes and no one shows. I call back on Monday to see what happened. Another guy on the phone says he's not sure why no one showed and in fact didn't even see my information in their computer. Okay, fine, so I made another appointment for the next Saturday from 10-noon. Saturday comes and I get a call at 11:50 saying they're running late and will be there in 45 minutes or so. Okay, no biggie. Levi, the technician finally arrives at 1. I tell him what's wrong (luckily I did my homework so I couldn't be taken) and Levi tells me it's going to cost $225 for everything! I tell him the guy over the phone quoted me $100-$150. Levi pauses then replies, oh yeah, that's just for parts. I hesitate then he tells me that a lifetime warranty is included which means if it ever breaks that they will come back and repair it and it won't cost me a penny. Okay, fine, I know he's full of it but at the same time I need to get this fixed so I give him the go ahead. The work is quick. Less than 15 minutes later Levi and his partner are done. I get my check book and he says total is $242! I'm pissed off by this point, write the check and get him out of there. It turns out the coupon got me a free "service call" valued at $50. The spring and labor is $225. There is a $7.00 fee for "Adlb" and a $10 gas surcharge. In the end I felt like I was taken. $100-150 became $225 became $242. Oh and that lifetime warranty that he said I get where if it breaks I get it repaired "without paying a penny". It turns out the fine print reads that the warranty is only for parts. Nice A-1. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PROMPT RESPONSE TIME. i first called another company who literally quoted me twice as much and only offered a 2 year warranty. the other company said they dint have the parts and would need 10 days to fix my garage. A-1 came in and did the job that same day offered a warranty that last over a decade and charged me half the price. i couldn't have been more happy this company is great and before you go wit your first quote i recommend getting an estimate form the because they are great. we had Lou and another great guy who came in and hooked me up and had it all completed before i finished dinner. just great! read more

I'm so surprised to see all the bad reviews on A1 and if I would have looked at Yelp before calling them, I probably would have gone somewhere else. The technician, Clayton, showed up on time and helped me figure out what garage door opener I should get. He showed up again on time for the follow up appointment and had the whole thing done in about an hour. He went above and beyond by helping get the garage door opener connected to the app - there was something wrong and we ended up having to call customer service. I really appreciate that he stuck it out and helped me or I would have been very upset with the service. I understand it is against their policy to help get the door connected to the home wifi and app. I think A1 prices are a little on the high side and therefore, they definitely need to make sure all their technicians go above and beyond with customer service to make it worth it. read more

Never use this company. You will be sorely disappointed in the quality of service, customer relations and overall experience. It took three separate crews coming to finally get the job done right. The first crew was filthy, smoked cigarettes in our garage and left the butts and their trash in our driveway. Oh, and they clearly had NO idea what they were doing. The second crew was 6 hours late. The office manager promised we would get a call from the owner multiple times. That never happened. Something tells me the owner has very little knowledge of how her company is being run. The third crew finally fixed the door to our liking. But, that was after we wasted about 13 hours of our lives waiting for these people. This company is terrible! Look elsewhere! I called on a Sunday and they had me scheduled for the next day, Monday. The guy literally showed up 2 hours late, I had to call them, I received no call about them being late. Then, after being there for 10 mins, the guy tells me he has another garage door emergency that is more important and leaves. I'm promised that he will return the next day at the same time. No one shows. I call to find out that they had already booked him elsewhere. I told them that the guy promised me a discount for the inconvenience, the guy I spoke with (Christian) sounded very irritated. I was, once again, promised that he would return the next day (Wed). The guy shows up 30 mins late this time, not as bad. But, after going over everything with him in detail, I leave him to do the job. He goes to re-park his car because I live in Denver (but where there is plenty of street parking for free). I also have a driveway and a church across the way that doesn't mind people parking there. I go outside to check on his progress to find him gone and nothing done. I get a phone call almost an hour later, not from him, but from the manager saying he went home because he could not find parking!! Absolutely crazy, why didn't the guy call me himself? Why didn't he park where he did initially and come tell me? Or even pull into my driveway?? I've lived in Denver for 3 years and have ALWAYS found a spot to park. When he showed up initially, all he did was complain about his job, how they weren't doing well, and how he didn't like his boss Christian. Already not a good way to start business. He obviously just didn't care and decided he didn't want to do that job. They guy's name btw was Jay. Home Depot charges way less anyway. Avoid this place!! P.S. I called both Jay's phone and Christian's and complained that night. I have not received any calls in return. Very poor business. read more

We have used this company several times in the past - they installed our two garage openers ~14 years ago, and have replaced springs in the past. We recently had to replace another spring on our main door, so opted to have both springs replaced at the same time. Labor cost was reasonable - keep in mind that this is a potentially dangerous job with insurance costs, etc... The springs are more expensive than what you may typically see online, but they are 30000+ cycle Springs, and have a 10 year warranty. The warranty is clearly stated on the receipt which is emailed to you. The Springs installation went smoothly and our door is working again - Thanks! read more

I had my double springs replaced back in November 2018. Costed me $495. As time passed (a couple of months), my door became unleveled. When it would close, one of the edges wouldn't touch the ground. The situation was getting worse with every week. Called back to A1, the operator told me that labor is out of warranty and I will need to pay $80 for them to come and fix it. Seth Neuman, the A1 technician came in, did the work, and told me that he had waived all the charges. That's what i am calling he customer services! I believe A1 is going through transformation. I first used this company back in 2008 when I had my first experience of having the springs break and the automatic door won't lift. When they replaced the springs then, they said it was a Lifetime Warranty. So yesterday (3/29/18) at 7pm the springs broke again (10 years later) and I called them up at 7pm and left a message. 5 minutes later the lady called back and we set up for them to come back today at 11am. I did have to pay the labor charge of $178 ($89 per side) and the fuel charge of $10, but Josh did a great job, in less than an hour, changing 2 springs on a double-car garage door, and again, the springs have a lifetime warranty. (I wanted them to change out the one that wasn't broken, also.) He also tightened up all screws and sprayed everything. (Don't forget, every 6 months you should spray all moving parts, including the SPRINGS and roller things.) Loved the quick reply to my phone call after hours, and the fact that the job was done the next morning was AMAZING!!! A1 offered me the best price which beat all the competitors prices. They were willing to do what was necessary to get my business! I initially had a great experience with A-1. They even waived the $100 install price I was quoted. I also had a $70 coupon but the representative I spoke with said that it could not be used since they already gave me $100 off. I thought that was fair. Two days later, due to city requirements needing me to have a window in my garage door, I called A-1 to come back and install the window panel. That was my fault for not doing proper research. I was quoted $300 for the panel (which I already knew that cost) and I was good with that price. However I was quoted $150 for the install. How can the install for the entire door be $100 and a single panel be $150? I asked if my $70 coupon (which the original installer conveniently took with him so I no longer have) would be honored this time around and I was told no. Why give out coupons if you will not honor them. That is baiting people into using your services. read more

They answered my phone call at 7pm at night and were more than happy to set up a service call the next day. Long story short, this company was awful to deal with in my experience. I was told my new garage door would be installed within a week and it took over a month. When I reached out to the owner, he was condescending and called me a liar. They are using excuses for their errors and delays saying that I was difficult to get a hold of, which is not true. I chose this company because of their great reviews, but would have definitely went with someone else if I knew what I was in for. Currently have an open dispute with the BBB. We called Family Garage Door to replace our garage door spring. A company named A1 Garage Door arrived. We received somewhat cryptic replies when we questioned the name discrepancy. There are multiple phone numbers out there as well. They answer without identifying company name. All very fishy. We still don't know about Family Garage Door but they do have an online presence??? A1 charges $135 an hour for labor which of course was not disclosed when I asked prior to scheduling. I was only told about a $20 trip charge. Also we were asked to digitally sign prior to doing the work and only upon receiving an email receipt afterwards did we see the lengthy 2 page contract...for the total protection of the company and not the homeowner. The technician worked one hour to replace the spring and barings. We were charged over $800 which we now know is much more than the average cost for such work. Unfortunately, being locked in our garage we were hasty to hire the first company we found and didn't do enough research first. BUYER BEWARE. read more

On 4/15/2013 we hired A1 Garage Doors to install a new garage door opener..we purchased a Sommer synoris 550/800 (record #14021). According to the tech, Dennis, this was "the Cadillac of garage door openers". Cost $400.00 and $40 for the remotes AND a lifetime warranty. Our Cadillac broke down 2 weeks ago and we called A1 to come and fix it. Our appointment was for 4pm. The tech didn't show up until after 6pm and only after we called to find out where they were. When they arrived they had never heard of this brand and had no way to fix it (never heard of the Cadillac of garage door openers??). They said they would get parts and call back to reschedule. No call ever came.We called to find out what was happening. We were told that parts needed to be ordered and they would call when they came in. No call ever came. Again, we called to follow up and were told that not only couldn't they fix it but they would give us a great deal on a new LiftMaster opener. A bargain and a"great deal from the owner" at $375. Thanks, but no thanks. According to the A1 website they "service ALL major brands", but, they will not honor their lifetime warranty. read more

Let me start off by saying that I RARELY leave reviews- unless there is EXCEPTIONAL work or it was just a plain bad experience. However, the woman that answers the phone and takes care of scheduling seems a little unknowledgeable of what is going on. She quoted us $350-375 + a 5% military discount for the garage door opener we wanted. When Mark (technician) came, he said it would be $550. I told him the discrepancy in the quote and he called and talked to Destiny. Destiny said she NEVER quoted us this and that this was not true. This is not only deception, but completely unprofessional. I had my phone on speaker the day we called so my husband could hear the pricing and he heard it too. We also wrote down the prices each place quoted us. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I asked for a range that the repair of the spring would cost. The max I was quoted was $174.00. This place claims to be 24/7 but when I called to have my garage repaired at 10:45pm, the guy who answered the phone gave me attitude and said "well I would have to wake up the guy." Then he said it would be a $100 charge before the guy even leaves his house because it's an emergency time. I mean I understand the charge, but the attitude was unnecessary at all. Thinks were pushing for this old quoted price, but honestly we understand it's an old quote and just want a yes or no answer. We receive both, one yes (from Griff) and one no (from the tech). Tech calls owner (Christian) and says,"...there's not even a tech's name on the quote, how is supposed to confirm this quote that's on THEIR company letterhead is legit. At this point, we've had enough and don't need to work with such an unprofessional company and rude tech. We ask him to leave, we will not be working with them. read more
