Enrique immediately came and diagnosed a hot water heater leak that I only suspected and had it replaced within an hour -- even taking the time to drive out and get the part himself. The next morning, when a new flood appeared in the same spot, he came out on a Sunday and quickly discovered it was a completely unrelated leak from our main water entrance. (Back to back leaks? Toll Brothers developers are developing a huge area next to our street and have literally been geo-forming the earth--jack hammering through layers of karst that our homes are sitting on. I called and spoke with Sherry Dorsey after noticing salt underneath my water softener container. She told me it was probably cracked and scheduled a technician to come out and take a look. I asked what it might be, and she again mentioned it could be a crack but said the technician would need to inspect it to confirm. When the technician arrived, I was on a company call, so my son opened the garage and allowed him to inspect the unit. The technician told my son he would take a look, which was completely fine. About 20 minutes later, he handed my son an invoice for $368. My son told me the technician never provided a quote or discussed the cost before completing the repair--he simply gave him the bill. I called Sherry to ask why I was never given a quote before the work was done. Her response was, "Why didn't your son ask how much it would cost? That's what I would have done." In my experience, reputable companies typically provide a quote before performing repairs, without the customer needing to ask. To be clear, I told her I had no issue paying for the service. I simply asked if she could reduce the bill by $68 so we could split part of the labor cost since no quote was provided beforehand. She was very difficult about it and repeatedly insisted that no one had ever questioned their services. I asked one final time if she could reduce half the labor, and if not, I would just pay the full amount. She eventually agreed to charge $300 but stated that they would never perform repairs or services for us again. Considering I originally purchased my water softener from them, the entire interaction was extremely disappointing. It wasn't about avoiding payment--it was about basic communication and customer service. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled left a very negative impression.
