Tim, the owner/operator of Aqua Tech, has a style that's more akin to an engineer than a salesperson. So naturally, he appeals more to that crowd. If you go with Tim, you won't get any flashy sales presentations or any high-pressure sales tactics. What you can expect from Tim, however, is "no gouging; no lies." Tim's best customers are those who get him on the phone and grill him with technical questions for an hour and a half. (By the way, the ideal time to call is "after hours.") My experience was no different (with the exception that I split that interrogation into 4 or 5 bite-sized sessions). Trying to be a savvy consumer, I had called a handful of water companies, not including the ones that knocked on my front door, before choosing Tim. I'd also contacted my water utility to get a copy of their latest Annual Water Quality Report. In fact, I had even bought test strips (like the ones you'd find in aquarium or pool shops) to test my water for chlorine and chloramine findings to verify said report. Tim's proposed setup was three units: a softener tank with resin inside, a catalytic carbon tank, and a salt bucket, and I appreciated how Tim meticulously spent almost six hours in my garage doing so. Tim's work shines behind-the-scenes because he chooses to upgrade every component. We had a competitor, Dupure come by and test the quality of our water, the salesman strongly recommended that we install a soft water system. He warned us about effect on skin, health and appliances. The least expensive was about $4,000 and according to the salesman some of our neighbors opted for the better equipment which cost close to $8,000. We live in a newly constructed neighborhood and our builder did not include a loop for soft water which increases the price of installation according to the salesman. I say all of this because Tim from Aqua Tech comes and conducts a test of my water and tells me that our water is fine and that we must be getting Austin city water. He said if this was his home he would not install a soft water system because the benefits of installing it would not justify spending that kind of money. Wow an honest salesman a rarity these days. We called him about a leak in our system but upon a very thorough review of our 13 year old system, Tim recommended a new system, he also found what he called a " lethal" problem with our system, the previous company hooked our system directly into the sewer line. We settled on a system that would me the needs of my own family, and of our house. The system is intended to by efficient and repairable, should anything unfortunate occur, without having the replace the whole setup. So far, the system works great. I have had other basic softener system, and this one is fantastic. It regenerates based on use, not a set schedule, helping to reduce water use. My water is soft, attested to by no more lime scale issues in the dishwasher, pots and pans, and showers. Our salt use is very low so far (still going down, water is soft, so system is working), again indicating either a very efficient use of water, or an even more efficient regeneration process. I scheduled an appointment for a diagnostic/routine service. The morning of the appointment I received a call stating that they would like to reschedule for later in the day or another day due to unforeseen circumstances. Given the situation I of course accommodated the request. I indicated that I'd be home all day and that they could come anytime and to just call/text when they had a better idea of when they could come. I contacted this company due to the good reviews it received on Yelp. The owner came to my home on February 6, 2018 and we agreed to have a system installed about two weeks later. He said that he would send me a contract to my e-mail address later that day and asked for an advance of $325. I began to get a bit worried when he never sent me the contract. On the day that he was supposed to install the system I received a call from him to let me know that he was having some back problems and would not be able to come. I told him that when he recovered, he could just let me know a day or two in advance. I waited until mid-March to hear from him and decided to send him an e-mail. I told him that I hoped he had recovered from his ailment and that I had never received the contract. I did not hear back from him. In April I called him and it was a strange conversation. He was the one that kind of suggested cancelling the installation. He then asked me if I had given him an advance and when I replied that I had indeed given him a $325 check, he said he would reimburse me immediately. Well, here it's September 12 and the reimbursement never arrived. I don't like to give poor reviews, but I finally decided to let others know about the poor experience that I had with this company. Tim came to our new house today and wow, is he amazing. First, he educated us both on the water softner and what we need to do next. The water softner in this house was not used at all by the previous owner (really?) and also it was LEAKING. He found that it leaked, showed Chris how to turn off and on the water so he knows. Tim also informed us that it was not even to CODE the way it was put in (really? AGAIN). I am sorry but I know for SURE Sears would not of told us that. We keep finding tons of stuff not to code, but glad he came out in a few days and we are really looking forward to using him and moving forward. I cannot say enough great things about Tim and his professionalism. I had an older low flow system that I had bypassed for about a year because it stopped functioning properly. Tim did a fantastic job installing a new high flow system at a very competitive price. He even helped me flush my water heater to get the old hard water buildup out! Have had an issue with an existing RO system. I researched Yelp and found Aqua Tech as the #1 rated company. I spoke with Tim on Monday. He showed up early on Wed, reconfigured my existing plumbing as it appears it was never installed correctly by the original company that installed. Called to ask about installing a water softener that I bought online (due to cost, and positive reviews). After telling me that he would "rather not" install it as it shifts responsibility if something goes wrong. Clearly, that makes sense, but things happened differently than how I had intended. After asking a few questions about how many bathrooms etc, he says that it would cost $700!!! Amazon Home Services (who I'm currently waiting on for some follow-up), only charges $449 for a new install without any pre-plumbing, which I do have. I have a water softener installed by a company that has since gone out of business. In trying to reach them, I was able to find Tim at Aqua Tech. The salt level in my softener was not going down so I asked Tim if he could come and look at my system. He came out and was able to find a stuck lever that he fixed and also inspected my entire system and replaced a seal that was the cause of a small leak.
