The restaurant is much larger than it appears from the outside. Once you head through the first dining room and down the steps, you're greeted by a warm, homey dining room with a surprisingly spacious bar. It has a comfortable neighborhood feel, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Our cocktails arrived in about 10 minutes, and the hush puppies followed about 20 minutes later. They had a nice flavor, but were much denser and chewier than I expected. The bigger issue was the wait for our entrees. With the restaurant not appearing particularly busy, nearly 50 minutes for fried chicken and jerk chicken felt excessive. The good news? The chicken absolutely delivered! Both the fried chicken and the jerk chicken were packed with flavor and easily stole the show. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy, while the jerk had a wonderful balance of seasoning and spice. Those dishes alone made the meal worthwhile. Unfortunately, my mashed potatoes arrived warm instead of hot. After such a long wait, I was hoping everything would come out piping hot, and that side just missed the mark. Cole slaw was fresh but pretty boring in the flavor department. I really wanted this to be the five-star experience that so many others have had. While this visit didn't quite live up to the hype, the quality of the chicken showed why Pineapple Eddie's has earned such a loyal following. We'll happily give them another shot someday and hope they earn that elusive fifth star.

If anyone has followed my reviews, I try to eat at local restaurants and give fair and honest reviews. We drove from Pittsburgh to Buffalo and decided to stop at Shirley's for breakfast. The restaurant was busy we had to wait about five minutes for a table. The restaurant just serves breakfast and brunch and had a typical diner interior. We sat down and got our drinks right away. The coffee was hot. The waitress Michele came over and took our order. my wife's order was fine. She ordered the omelette and Texas toast came out perfect. My order was a different story. I ordered the number 4, 2 eggs over easy hashbrowns breakfast sausage, patty, and Italian toast with no butter. Nothing out of the ordinary, but the waitress brought me my plate with the toast very barely toasted and the hashbrowns should've been called hash whites because they were not cooked and they were cold. Take a look at the picture. No waitress should be bringing this to a patron. Look at this picture and make your own decision. Zoom in to the top of the plate, what is that? I did ask to have my toast darker but I did not want to send my whole plate back because my wife was already eating her breakfast. When I was paying my bill, I was asked how was everything and I explained that my breakfast was cold. The manager or owner came over asked a few questions and apologized. I said it's not your fault and I'm not looking to have anything comped. I just made the statement that I came in for a hot breakfast and I got a cold one. There are a lot of restaurants in Erie and unfortunately, I picked the wrong one for breakfast.

Tried their omelet with hash brown, it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I really like their crispy hash brown. Waitstaff is very nice and service was quick. The parking situation is quite tricky here, as they have a small parking lot right behind the restaurant, that would only fit about 5-6 cars. If you go during rush hours you might have to park on the street instead. Do not park in the lot on the right side of the building as there is a sign notifying that you will get towed

I'm actually not a huge breakfast eater, so I went with my standard 2 eggs, toast, and breakfast potatoes. I thought the bread was nice and fresh (though not exactly toasty), and the potatoes were for sure fresh cut, which was a really nice touch. I also had a garden salad, which was a pretty standard diner salad - romaine, some tomatoes, shredded cheese, and olives as a surprise addition. Decent size and price. The service was quick and so was our food. I thought it was a solid breakfast. Note - there is no parking, so we parked a block or so away and walked.
