A fabulous Middle- Eastern bakery that My husband discovered after a friend was raving about it and he decided to check it out. They have the most delicate and fresh Middle-Eastern pastries and the baked goods, that I tried, weren't overly sweet. I prefer my sweets that way. The Ghraybeh (shortbread cookies)are amazing! They literally crumble when you bite into them. I also fell in love with the maamoul(filled cookie) both the dates and the pistachio were very good and I did not even know I liked dates! However, one taste of the maamoul and I was a fan! They also have baklava and I had the pistachio baklava. So delicious and flaky! They also have basbousa, that my mother-in-law had made for me before, but I did not care for it. However, when I tried theirs, I enjoyed it. ( Our secret) . I believe it's also called Namoura as well. It's a delightful semolina cake soaked in syrup and then topped with an almond, or maybe it was a pistachio, but whatever it was, it was good! Lastly, my husband has bought the Knafeh a few times and it was tasty as well. I liked that too! (Shocker)! But it was rich, so I just had a bite. It was filled with creamy cheese and a syrup poured on top. I don't have a picture of that one, but , I understand they sell several varieties . He had the one with the vermicelli noodles on it and it was good. I'd never eaten vermicelli in a dessert, but strangely it worked. My husband has been back several times and my he said each time the workers were very nice and accommodating. He's also encountered the owner a few times and he said the owner was friendly. They are located on a strip mall with plenty of parking. The store offers a wide variety of sweets which look delicious. I was in a mood; I bought a box of mixed baklavas, petit 4 cookies, Turkish knafe, cheese knafe, mamoul with pistachio, and mamoul with walnut. The baklavas had crispy phyllo dough which had a crunch to them. They were of the right sweetness. The knafes were sweet enough for me without adding the syrup. The mamouls and petit 4 cookies were hard. It was tough to bit through. Once I got through the first bite of the mamouls, the flavors were ok, and they were packed with fillings. The petit 4 cookies tasted ok. The flavors were not strong. The staff was so nice to package my baklavas neatly in their store bag. The staff was super patient to answer all the questions I had. I just got back from visiting Turkey and had a major craving for künefe! I was surprised to find various types here so I ordered a couple of different variations for takeout. I tried the Lebanese kanafe, Turkish kanafe, and Ashta kanafe. The Turkish version has more texture and crisp. If you're taking it home, throw it in the airfryer for a little bit for that extra crispness! The Lebanese version is also good, with a more smooth texture and stringy cheese. The Ashta kanafe had a more floral taste to it, and the cream was so light and delicious. All of the things I tried were not too sweet and satisfied my craving! I also liked how the pistachio on top of each piece is finely crushed instead of chunky bits. These all go really well with a shot of espresso. I also ordered the Halloumi (pizza? bread?) because I love Halloumi and it was pretty good too! A good amount of sesame seeds were spread across the bread but it worked. The staff were so sweet in helping us pick out the perfect baklava to take back to Austin with us. The Knafe was very good and flavorful. We always go to sweet factory when we visit Houston. Enjoy their backalava, cookies, cheese and omelete pies and other sweets. This visit customer service was horrible; for dine in they put turkish coffee in coffee cup! Had to ask them to serve in proper turkish coffee glasses. Also, I bought Backlava and cookies and they charged me $2 for basic empty gift box for backlava ( This is marketing for them it should be free or not worth more than $1). i spent over 30-50usd in purchases. Additionally, I had other people ahead of me in checkout and they were buying lot things and they ask for a sampler of round sweet item for their young kid they refused it. Came here yesterday for some sweets. I've been here many years ago and was craving their desserts yet again. Parking is a bit rough since the parking lot appears to be in bad shape. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a kind older lady. She answered any and all questions I had about which sweets had what. It would definitely be nice if they had labels in front of each item though as I quickly forgot what she had said. I ordered about $20 worth of goodies with one of them being baklava. The other two that I ordered, I'm not sure what they're called, but they have a creamy filling. What I loved most was they all weren't super sweet; they were just right. SWEET FACTORYY!! For me its the Knafeh factory. I know they sell many other things, but Knafeh (as I recently learned) is shredded phyllo dough, fried, some coloring (likely saffron), and that is on top of a salty cheese (think Bulgarian Feta), with some rose water simple syrup. This is my favorite Knafeh in the city, the dish has been consisted over the past 8 or so years I've been coming here, and I always get a sheet and share it with family, just need to toast it up a little. This is a haven for pistachio-everything, baklava, flaky phylo, butter, sugar, honey and pastry galore. I love when a dessert tastes soo good that it feels almost good for you, too. How deceiving. It's good for your soul, at least -- well, in moderation... There is no dessert that I wouldnt recommend here. The staff working the day I went was also very accommodating, promptly giving us silverware to dig into our goodies on the spot and spoiling us by adding double the amount of pistachio on everything that we bought. I always come by here if I get a chance. Their deserts are yummy like all the different kinds of baklava. I like that they aren't too sweet. My favorite is the brick oven which they sell zaatar bread, and different flat breads with traditional lebanese toppings. Pretty inexpensive. read more

This dessert shop is truly a Houston gem that bridges all the cultures Houston has to offer. The neighborhood is surrounded by other middle eastern/Arabic businesses and offers some of the best baklava in town. Every time I get on 59 and drive past Hillcroft I have to make a pit stop and buy some sweets. I usually never leave the suburbs to go to A Sweet Factory but if I am in the area I can not avoid the decadence they have to offer.
