This outfit is incompetent, dishonest, and arrogant. Despite four attempts, owner Darren Lin was unable to restore Microsoft Outlook to baseline functionality on my desktop computer in Bellevue WA. He assured me that expensive equipment purchases and data transfers would solve the problems, but they didn't. In fact, he caused new impediments and important emails were permanently lost. He attempted to charge for more time than he actually worked and didn't provide invoices. I took the computer tech, Cyra, to task when my computer was not ready by the promised deadline. When I picked it up, two days after the promise date, she assured me that the battery was charged. What I found instead, after taking the computer home, was that the battery hadn't even been reconnected. Moreover, the computer has been very slow since it has been returned to me; I suspect I got the technical equivalent of having a waiter spit in my food. I attempted to escalate this issue without success. This has been very frustrating and expensive. I will probably end up having to buy a new computer. read more

I returned to A Plus Computer Tech for help after spending about seven futile hours on the phone over about six days with Microsoft tech support, trying to regain use of my Outlook email account using my domain name on Office 365. John from A Plus came to my home to diagnose the problem, then set up remote access to my computer so he could work on it from the A Plus office. Over the next three days John stated in touch with me, identified the problem, and took the multiple steps needed to properly reset the access to my Outlook email. My computer now works better than ever, and for sure I'll contact A Plus from the outset for any problems in the future -- skipping the wasted time for call center help from Microsoft. read more

Within minutes, I had a call assuring me that my data was recoverable and the entire analysis would be finished within another twenty minutes. This weekend I was in Tacoma and prior I came to their location I called them twice and even described the issue I have, in order to have a quote so I don't need to have a long drive just for the quote. Anyway they said they need to see it first and even if they knew that I am coming from a long drive and what the issue was, they insisted to be in Bellevue physically. Alright, I came... surprise, I am told "first came, first served"... No problem with that, but I was not asking to be repaired and no customers where in there...... I wanted just a quote and nothing else.... The other option was also to leave the laptop for 2-3 days.... Why on the phone was so hard to say all that prior I wasted my time? Holy cow. This place is beyond amazing. Alan and the crew here really know their stuff and treat their customers right! A little backstory about me and my situation: I'm a gamer and a bit of a tech nerd. I've had a few computers since 1999, and they've all been pre-built by a manufacturer. My latest machine, an Alienware, was starting to show its age after a reliable six years of life. A few of my co-workers suggested building a new machine myself, and lemme tell ya... the idea scared the begeezus out of me. I've heard so many horror stories of people bending pins, breaking cards, and things just not working right. I knew what I wanted from a parts perspective, but the idea of building it, managing cables, and all that? No thanks! I looked through Alienware's site for a replacement, and the costs were ridiculous for what you get. I tried a few smaller PC manufacturers and didn't find much better. I knew exactly what I wanted in a machine. I just didn't want to have to deal with the headache of building it. On a whim, I emailed A Plus and asked them if they did any kind of custom machine creation. Within half an hour, I had a reply back from Alan, a manager at the store. Not only were they eager to help, they also offered to help with advice on my build. I told Alan what I wanted... a powerhouse gaming PC with a GEForce 980Ti at its core. This thing had to be a beast in horsepower, but run quietly / smoothly. I wanted to run just about any game in Ultra-High-Show-Me-All-The-Things settings. And I let him know what my budget was. Alan sent back an entire configuration for me. The tower, the processor, everything. He talked through his entire thought process on what I wanted to do. And here's the kicker: HE EVEN TOLD ME WHERE TO GET EACH PART! He didn't insist on ordering the parts himself and making a cut off of them. No... Alan encouraged me to buy all the parts myself, have them shipped to the store, and save a few bucks. How amazing is that? The last of the parts got there on a Monday afternoon, and the very next day, Alan called me and invited me into the store to come meet my new bundle of joy. It took them less than a day to turn it around. And let me tell you, this thing is magnificent. It boots in less than 6 seconds, it can run anything I throw at it. Alan even pre-installed my preferred version of Windows 10, set up some Anti-virus software using their enterprise license, and made sure all my drivers were up to date. All this, and they only billed me for four hours of labor. That's the amount of time it took to assemble the machine, install the OS and drivers, and benchmark it. I looked at my Gmail before I wrote this review. Alan and I communicated through the course of 28 emails before I ever set foot in the store. He answered so many questions (some smart, some dumb) with the greatest amount of patience, intelligence, and speed. To call him professional is the deepest understatement. He's amazing. I'm writing this today on a machine that is more remarkable than anything I've ever owned in the past, in a beautifully designed case with cable management that you wouldn't believe. I'm super pleased with A Plus and I'm so glad I had a chance to support a local business. These guys know their stuff, they're passionate about computers, and most importantly... they don't take advantage of you. I'll point every friend I have in their direction. And in another six years, when I'm ready to upgrade again, this'll be my first stop. read more

My external hard drive failed and I needed the data extracted. These guys were so patient. It took them over a month to extract the data (due to my damaged and slow hard drive) but they kept at it! And they called to update me every other week or so. They were able to recover 95-98% of the data to me without having to send it to a clean room. That's huge because of the cost of a clean room. I had multiple computer businesses throw their hands up and say they couldn't do it and that they wouldn't touch it. Allen wasn't afraid of a challenge and the pricing was way less than anyone else I had called. No doubt I will take any future issues to them. I trust their experience and pricing. Thank you SO much! I paid over $3000 having my computer built by them and had additional services and they were always stellar in customer service. I did not have a good experience this morning when I dropped it off because of a windows update error. This time I was told it would cost me a rush charge of $50 for same day service. When I told him they never charged me extra to fix something the same day, the guy became rude and started yelling at me. I just could not believe how poorly I was treated as an unvalued customer. I took the day off work and stood waiting at shop opening for this? I have been saving for new parts and wanted a new build, but now I'd rather take my business elsewhere. Update: I was really upset about my computer and this morning's event upset me even more. Luckily the owner was there when I came back to check on my computer. He's a very nice guy and knows how to treat people. I still had to pay that extra fee, which I'm not happy about because I don't make a lot of money, but I felt valued & I trust him. We often need something fixed so badly, it could be easy to be taken advantage of. Cameron was authentic and wasn't looking for different angles to scare me about my lost data, or for opportunities to overcharge. I don't ever write reviews online, but this place compelled me. I had a broken monitor and could have overnighted it to LG and got it repaired and returned to me in 7 business days. But since I live about 1 block from this business, I thought it would be good to support my local small businesses. Big mistake. I called ahead and explained my issue and asked if it would be something they could fix or should I just mail it in to the manufacturer. They said they'd take a look at it for free. So I took it in and they said free estimate but it could take up to 7 days if they're busy. Or I could spend $50 for priority next day evaluation. I chose to wait the week. 10 days later and not a peep from them. I walk into the store and they say there's 3 people in front of me. I ask what that means in real time, and they couldn't tell me. You see, as long as someone new comes and and pays for rush service, they'll never get to your free estimate. So you could be waiting weeks/months. I made the comment that customers make plans around their quoted timelines and they should really try to honor their commitments. They proceeded to give me grief even though they had no leg to stand on, saying it was 'meant' to be just an average wait time. Then they had the gall to say that they wouldn't have been able to fix it anyway since it's likely a logic board replacement issue. Well then, why didn't they tell me when I asked that specific question in the first place? I called Mac Ace and he said he'd take a look at it for me same day. I'd suggest you go with Mac Ace just a mile down the road. He said he could fix and solder new parts on the board if that's the issue. Long story short, A Plus Computer Tech has maybe the worst customer service I've ever experienced, and not only that, they try to give you grief when you call them out on it. I was having problems with my laptop going into sleep mode and I was unable to unlock it. After finding these guys on Yelp, I stopped by, spoke to Alan, who was super friendly and knowledgeable. They ended up replacing my hard drive. Alan told me it would be ready in 3 days and I received a call the next day that my laptop was ready! I brought my brother's laptop to this place based off of my friends recommendation that this place was amazing for any repairs to any laptops. I was not disappointed and felt that this place was very in tune with what any customer needs. My brother's laptop had a weird funky problem. He had somehow shoved his A/C jack all the way in, thereby, dismounting the A/C jack internally, and therefore could not charge his laptop. The friendly folks at A Plus Computer Tech gave us a FREE QUOTE/ESTIMATE (standard), and told us exactly how much they would charge ahead of time, so that there were no surprises later on. When I asked them further questions about the possibility of them ordering another charger for us, they gave us another estimated price range, so when we had our job completed, we knew exactly what we were getting and what we were paying for. They know what they are doing and they are more than willing to help you every step of the way. At first I was concerned that they wouldn't be able to finish the job on time or that there would be further problems. NO. They banished my anxiety and kept me promptly updated through phone calls that made me feel as if they weren't just another 'computer factory' mindlessly repairing, etc. BOTTOM LINE: These guys mean business and they do it with fantastic customer service. I decided not to go with their repair options, but they explained everything fully and I picked up my computer the next week no questions asked. I believe this place could be slightly busy but they don't receive customers really well. When I went in to check for my MacBook repair , they were least interested to ask me any questions and were like just drop it off and go, they would get back on 3-5 business days. Awful customer service. Please Stay clear. Brought my laptop in to simply get cracked screen repaired. These guys end up losing everything save on the laptop, including my 20,000 songs on iTunes. End up getting a new laptop. Please make sure you read thur contract thoroughly as they have written in clauses to protect them if they mess up. Also, they also charged me $100 to try and transfer data on old harddrive to new laptop and failed again, didn't even refund me until I threatened to contact better business bureau. I visited A Plus for a quick question because I happened to have lunch a few doors down, but the staff really knew their stuff and I found myself learning quite a bit more than I expected. I had a few fairly complicated computer security questions and both employees had great ideas for me to try. I appreciated their help very much! These guys had my best interest at heart and didn't push any products on me at all. The next time I need something computer related done, I will definitely check them out. My HP laptop had coke spill. Dropped the laptop for free estimate. Estimate provided = 195$. Was told to change the RAM/memory since it was damaged. Did not get the repairs done. Got it fixed today from another shop, was told RAM was ok, only thing that was missing is key board connection. Now I think A plus computer removed deliberately during the free evaluation. Based on my experience these guys cannot be trusted. In other words this is cheating. I am sure they are knowledgeable and expert in fixing computers based on reviews but in my case they wanted to make quick money read more

This is an update to my previous review. If there was an option of 3 1/2 stars I would have gone with that. I initially brought in a very slow laptop to find out what my options were for making it faster. It was suggested that I put in a solid state drive which made sense so they went ahead and did the work. Unfortunately that did not solve the problem of making my laptop faster so I had to bring it back a few times. The reason for the three star review is that although I brought it back about 4 times it was never communicated to me what the problem was until I was able to speak with Darren. Darren was very helpful in letting me know what the issue was and worked quickly to resolve it. Turns out the processor on the laptop was very inadequate and any other type of upgrade wouldn't be able to help it. Darren was very helpful in getting my money back on the hard drive. If I had talked to Darren first, before all of the trips in I would be giving a five star review, but I had to mark it down a bit for the initial lack of communication and my time spent running back to the shop. read more

Took my computer in for blue screen. Kept in touch with me about what was wrong and how I wanted to proceed. We agreed. However, at no time did I agree to have my PC recycled. Went to pick up and the employee just kept saying it was a misunderstanding and questioned why I would want back a computer that needs new parts. Should that matter? No, there isn't a misunderstanding when only one party agrees. Unprofessional customer service. Asked for the manager. Someone called me back and they agreed to drop my computer off at my home. For that, I am appreciative as I didn't want to drive back in for an employee error. Make sure you get everything in writing!!
