Over the past 20 years we also hired Leo to remove a few medium-size trees, and take care of problems with other trees that are still here and doing fine. Sometimes he can be hard to get a hold of and to get replies from, and may reschedule your job last minute, and he is pricey. I think he has to reschedule last minute due to weather & cancellations. (He'll let you cancel up to the day before, no charge.) We did have one issue where his team failed to grind the stumps of a removed tree, and we even had them come back and they STILL didn't finish properly. But With that one exception, once he shows up, he gets the job done right. He cares about every tree, and knows how to take care of them. (The stump-grinding was a problem in part to avoid hurting an adjacent tree that we kept). For the big jobs he brings the right equipment, is insured, and has well-trained staff. He even made sure we had written permission from the neighbor with the fence to do the work, that covers us as well as him.

However Rolf did not communicate with them about what was to be done. We have trees that need to be dwarfed because they are too big for the space they are planted in. They did not do that. I called Rolf and asked him to come back. He said he would take care of the dwarfing next year ( although we still paid him thousands for this year.) We also said we did not want fertilizer sprayed on our lawn since we have a dog who rolls around there. He said he would just inject it into the roots of the trees. Again there must have been miscommunication. Someone came with a big tank of fertilizer and started to spay the lawn. We sent him away.

My experience with this company wasn't fantastic. They did a residential job for me in May, but…read morefailed to complete the work. It took another 6 months for them to finalize the job. Over that 6 months I received 8 calls from the office staff asking for final payment (very 1900's, they seem allergic to text or email). In each case I would tell them that I was waiting for them to finish the job and would send them photos detailing the remaining work. Then I wouldn't hear from them for weeks, until they called yet again to ask for payment, always surprised that the job hadn't been completed, and again asking for more photos. So all-in-all it wasn't a positive experience. I would say that the guys who did the actual tree work were very easy to work with, I found them to be both professional and friendly! The office staff wasn't easy to deal with; their sole focus seemed to be on pestering me for final payment with little interest in actually completing the job. Were I only reviewing the guys who do the actual tree work, I'd give them 5 stars.

They left the bags and trash bins there even after leaving. We missed the yard waste pickup for the week as a result.
