Unprofessional and Inappropriate Customer Service - Avoid This Company I recently moved to the area and was looking for reliable childcare, so I called this company to learn more about their services. Since I had never heard of them before, I asked basic questions--do they match families with nannies? Do they facilitate interviews? Do they have a database of caregivers? Instead of receiving helpful information, I was met with an unprofessional and downright inappropriate response. Rebecca, the person I spoke with, questioned whether I was soliciting--a completely absurd and offensive assumption. I was simply a parent seeking childcare, and her comment made me feel as though I was asking for something inappropriate. It was not only disrespectful but also incredibly unprofessional. If this is the level of communication they provide to potential clients, I would never trust them to handle something as important as finding care for my children. Rebecca is clearly in the wrong line of work if she lacks the basic customer service skills to handle simple inquiries. For any parents looking for a trustworthy, professional nanny service, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. We used this agency for quite some time because their 'temp' placement service was helpful to us. Most of our experiences with the nannies were good, some were great, and a few were terrible. Throughout, we had to put up with constant turnover among the agency's office staff -- we'd have one conversation with someone new and then who knew if they'd even be there the next time we called. We don't know if those employees kept getting fired, or if they quickly quit - but either way it was a constant source of disruption to us as clients and a sign that this agency did not seem to be run well. We had terrible experiences with the owner, Rebecca Dyk, as others have noted too. After several failures in a row when the agency could not provide staffing in their temp service for our requests, the owner asked me to cancel our service in exchange for a refund of a portion of our annual fee. She put it in writing, I agreed to it -- And months went by with no check, despite a dozen polite requests... Not even the courtesy of a response! Promising to issue a check (it was her idea) and then refusing to do so is completely dishonest. Finally our nanny went to the office in-person to inquire about the refund. She had our 3-year-old with her and the owner Rebecca Dyk threatened to call the police if they didn't leave immediately. We are baffled and incredibly alarmed by this behavior... what a terrifying experience for our nanny, our daughter, and our family! We would never recommend working with this agency. Another reviewer here at Yelp notes that she had to take them to court to collect the refund due. We used A Nanny for U to find a Nanny for our 3 kids. We did hire a nanny through her who started off well but as time went on it was obvious the nanny was not the right fit. She did a great job keeping the house clean, but had minimal interactions with our kids. She was on her phone quite often. My wife was home sometimes when the nanny was working and one time my wife walked into our kids playroom where our kids where quietly playing and basically scared the nanny out of her seat because she was so engrossed on whatever was going on in her phone. Any free moment she had she would pull out her phone. She wanted to have people over to our house with our kids there to sign some mortgage paperwork. She would take the kids out and not tell us where she was going with them. The only time she interacted with our kids was to yell at them. She told my daughter to "quit her crying because no one wants to hear you cry" and shook my son roughly by his arm. Not what I would expect from a "professional nanny". We decided to let her go and told Rebecca about it who was very supportive at first. The first nanny was with us for less than 3 months. At this point we had paid the 1st year fee which was 20% of the entire sum of the nanny's first year wages. Rebecca found us a replacement who we interviewed and seemed great but we were hesitant as we got burned by the first nanny. So the owner had this new nanny interview with another family that wanted more hours while we were still deciding and she went with that family. Then she sent us another candidate that had never been a nanny before and didn't seem interested in the kids on the interview, and was overwhelmed by thought of 3 kids. Then she sent us another who seemed OK on the phone interview but then no-showed for the in person interview with the kids. None of the nannies she sent us really seemed any better than you could find on your own through Care.com So now we were over 10 weeks from letting the last nanny go, and per her contract there is a pro-rated refund if she can't find someone new within 8 weeks. So I emailed to cancel and get a refund and she promptly replies "there are no refunds". I've called and emailed again and there has no response from her or her company. I have gone to my credit card company to dispute the charges. She has been verbally abusive to my wife on multiple occasions over trying to find the right nanny, to the point she was actually yelling. There is a very significant turnover in her office staff which is never a good sign. Overall an extremely unpleasant experience. I have never written a negative review before either. If she would have been professional, and said "hey I'm sorry this didn't work out, here's the pro-rated refund" I wouldn't be here. Also, yelling at the customer, when you already have their money is not cool. I've never worked with a business before that is more interested in keeping your money, than doing a good job. I had a great experience with A Nanny For U! At the last minute, my day care arrangements were pushed back by a few months so I needed a nanny quickly to help with child care as I returned to work. I had a very special need of only needing coverage in the morning plus had some intermittent vacation days planned where a nanny was not needed. Many agencies I reached out to would immediately reject me after understanding my needs. Not this team! They worked quickly to find a nanny to fit my exact needs - approximately less than a week from first contact I had a nanny guaranteed for my assignment. I was a little worried about putting all my faith in someone else doing due diligence for my nanny, but I was working from home and could monitor which made me feel a little better. However my worries were not needed at all! I was assigned a FANTASTIC nanny Julia who was great with my daughter. She even taught me some child development exercises to do with my daughter. When baby was napping, Julia offered to do light housework (sweeping, dusting, laundry, washing dishes) which was a huge help. I had one other nanny cover for a day Julia was needing off and that nanny was also really good with my daughter. She did not offer to do housework but I was fine with that since that was not part of my arrangement with the agency. We used A Nanny For U to find a permanent, full-time nanny. We did hire someone, and it ended up being a terrible fit. Based on the nanny's report to the agency about how the fit didn't work for her, ANFU determined the placement didn't work because of us. They then shockingly refused to honor their warranty (a new nanny search or return of fee) without so much as checking with our side of the story. Long story short, we had to fight hard to get our money back, and we used a different agency to then find a very successful nanny replacement. This was a heartbreaking experience that hurt my family, costing us time, money, and reliable, compassionate care for our children. The staff who seemed so eager and thoughtful before they had our fee were judgmental and unresponsive once there was a major problem but the check had already been cashed. I looked over the other reviews and I realized that none of them are from the perspective of someone who used their core service: nanny placement. My wife and I had used A Nanny For U's backup care service and when we started looking for a new nanny we went to A Nanny For U first. Every part of the experience was wonderful. We worked with Jenene who was amazing. She was so caring and interested in our situation and really seemed to want to get to know us as people to help us find the right nanny. This could have easily been a quick, cursory interview but she asked probing questions (some of them difficult) to get to the root of the nanny that we needed, not just what we thought we wanted. The owner, Rebecca, even helped us with the details of our placement and she was fantastic as well. They set the expectation that they'd only bring us a couple of potential nannies to speak with. I was surprised by that as I'd assumed we'd go through a ton of interviews but their point is that it's THEIR job to find the best possible nanny for us. We only spoke to 2 candidates and settled quickly on one of them. Our new nanny has been with us for about 2 months now and is more than we could have asked for. We would never have found someone of her caliber on Craigslist or Care.com without a ton of time and energy expended by us....assuming someone as good as her was on those sites at all. Look: if you're reading this you're considering using them to help you find a nanny. Truly unprofessional and racist interaction. I requested a native Spanish-speaking nanny--as I speak Spanish and want my child to as well--and was told on a phone call that this agency cannot provide Spanish-speaking candidates because they are "not educated" and do not provide high quality childcare. I was also told that if I'm looking for a Spanish speaking nanny because I want someone to "clean my house", this is not the type of person they work with. When writing the contract for my new job, Jenny was definitely able to balance my well being and the family's. Everyone I met was very helpful and understanding. My wife and I used A Nanny for U for nanny placement starting last August. The agency took almost two months to come through with just one candidate, whom we ended up hiring despite significant reservations. We paid the multi-thousand dollar agency placement fee in the hope of having some support from the agency in making the placement work, but continued to struggle with a very poor fit with a nanny who simply couldn't communicate, couldn't understand how simple paychecks work, and was overall a very poor fit for our family. Through all this we received some simple platitudes from the agency such as "have frank conversations and try to work it out", but in the end the nanny actually quit before the 90 day placement fee "refund" period was over and made all sorts of crazy accusations about us not living up to our contract (because we tried to be nice and let her go negative on accrued vacation time for example) so we decided to not take her up on her offer of 30 days' notice. Amazingly the agency is now saying they won't work with us to find a replacement, and conveniently won't refund us any of the placement fee because we "didn't provide a professional working environment". We will be taking legal action against this firm to recover our money, so would suggest that anyone thinking of doing business with them think twice and look at other options. read more

We first "met" ANFU over five years ago through my husband's work's back-up care program. We were always impressed by professionalism and care shown by the nannies who showed up at our door to take care of our son when our regularly scheduled childcare wasn't available or if he had a cold and couldn't go to school. Through this program, we also encountered other local childcare agencies, but ANFU always stood out. After our second child was born, about 3.5 years ago, we decided to sign up with ANFU's temporary childcare option (not a long-term nanny) for date nights or any other times when we needed childcare. The ANFU admin team does a great job in keeping track of who has been with our boys and tries incredibly hard to meet our requests about having certain individuals returning. The amount of creativity, playfulness and care shown by the ladies (and guys!) are - well, simply said - incredibly awesome. They've all been amazing entertainers and educators for our boys. There's one who always researches different types of paper airplanes before returning to our house so he can make them with our older son while the younger one naps. There's also the one who helped the boys build a volcano in the backyard, complete with having it "explode" with a baking soda mixture (and not to worry, everything was cleaned up afterwards). We had one individual who created forts with special "zoos" in it for stuffed animals while it was pouring down rain - which entertained the boys for hours! The boys always look forward to having these caregivers come to our home. And as a bonus, if we request it, the caregivers would send us texts and pictures so we could see all the fun and get updates. As for any hiccups with any of the temp-care nannies - we haven't run into any issues over the years; however I have no doubt if I were to raise a concern to ANFU they would immediately look into it/take care of it. Since signing up, we've come to truly respect the service and quality of the ANFU admin team as well as their hiring and placement process. Their hiring checklist is probably far more detailed then I could ever imagine and the high-level standards they hold shows by the quality of those who walk through our door. They took our deposit for finding a part-time nanny and then in a classic bait-and-switch, they stated that they could only find us full-time help and would not refund our money but wanted us to now pay for a full-time nanny (plus an additional fee for their work) figuring that if we were desperate enough, we would just cave in. It was only after this experience that I started finding additional negative reviews (City Search) from people that had similar problems with this agency. I have been working for ANFU for a year now and have really loved them as an employer. They have placed me in full time placement and in temp placement. When things did not work out with my full time placement they supported me and gave me wonderful guidance through the event. Understanding that agencies can't control how a nanny acts, we reached out to Rebecca to explain what happened and seek guidance and possibly help finding a new nanny. Instead, we were met with a stunning lack of professionalism. She showed absolutely no inclination to help us or make things right and resorted to being outright hostile and then completely ignoring us. Their services have provided us both a long-term nanny/household manager and excellent help with any temporary coverage we have needed in the absence of our permanent nanny. NANNIES STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! I felt the need to create a Yelp account just to review this company and I never feel compelled enough to write reviews. Most of the reviews here are based on parents' experience, but I think it's important to have a viewpoint from a nanny. My interview process began alright, although it was off-putting (and potentially illegal?) to ask me my political and social viewpoints in an interview (i.e political affiliation, religion, same sex marriages). I get that they want to help place nannies with similar families, but those things really have nothing to do with childcare, especially back-up care. I got the feeling that the young women working there were very clicky and gossipy right away. I was hired for back-up care and emphasized I needed a local job and was told there would be a few jobs here and there on the Eastside, but eventually most would be in the Seattle neighborhood. Instead, almost all of my jobs were in Redmond or Sammamish, even further than Bellevue, and I only got a handful of jobs in Seattle. This did not improve like they had promised, even six+ months into the job. It became tiring really quickly to be practically on call, most of the time not even finding out until 6 am the DAY OF where I would be going! I have a college degree and over 13 years of childcare experience and have worked as a professional nanny for many years and have been constantly in demand by several families and have acquired most all of my jobs through recommendations and word of mouth. For the most part, the families I did back-up care for were great and I had lots of requests for me to come back the next day. I never told families my schedule, only that I am back-up care and ANFU cannot guarantee to have me back again, but ANFU TOLD ME that I was allowed to let the family know they could try to request me back. However, I was literally CHEWED OUT on the phone to the point of tears by the owner Rebecca for "building relationships" with families and was told I was messing up their "system." It does not make sense to keep sending families different nannies when they need care for two or more days in a row, especially when that nanny has not even been assigned a family for the next day! Regardless of that decision, I was appalled at the way she handled it. I have never been treated so DISRESPECTFULLY in my life. Incredibly unprofessional, RUDE, and unnecessary. Another girl called me to reiterate and had the same condescending tone, ZERO people skills or empathy whatsoever. I even spoke to another girl who did work with the owner and she agreed her personality was unsavory and admitted that she had made her cry (as a grown woman!) and that she just couldn't work with her anymore because of how overbearing and mean she was. ANFU knows nothing about business ethics, professionalism, or leadership. They do not know how to communicate, refusing to have actual conversations but instead bark orders through text messages, all from different people I had no idea who they were. At one point my job placements for the day came in later and later, and by late morning I never heard from them. I was actually SCOLDED FOR NOT ASKING FOR WORK! Excuse me, but it is YOUR job to have my schedule and place me, that is what a PLACEMENT agency does! Since when did it ALL OF A SUDDEN become my responsibility for requesting work for the day, when everyday before that I was to await assignment? Again, no communication and then they yell at you for it! I eventually had enough of being SO mistreated that I quit. I've never quit a job out of pure frustration and anger. I pride myself in professionalism, but because this company did not have the decency to interact with me as a human being, with no regard to my feelings, time, or schedule, they did not deserve the kindness of two weeks notice. There are few times in life when you have to stand up for your own self respect and this was one of them. All it takes is reading a few of the other "hidden" reviews from nannies and parents who have personally spoken with the owner to know that she is catty, rude, and unprofessional. It baffles me this place is still in business. PLEASE, do not use this company. Parents, please find other avenues for nanny placement and do not support such a despicable company!! P.S.- They actually threatened to sue me if I didn't return their cheap WORN T shirt they made me wear and a plastic binder that probably cost $2 from Office Depot. Pathetic.
