Tuna Tataki, kinda gray and average.

Saw some good reviews on Yelp. Not very good across the board for me. The AC felt nice so I sat at the nearly empty bar. The bartender asked if I'd like olives or chips. Doesn't matter what you answer, neither came. I ordered the Tuna Tataki and the recommended Ox tenderloin. The Ox came out first, my request of medium was really rare. It came with probably frozen shoestring fries and 3 peppers. The peppers were good. The fries basic. I took a bite of the Ox and decided to send it back to the oven. While it was recooking my Tuna came to the window with a ring of the bell. After about 10 minutes I flagged down the bartender (empty bar) and said 'that's mine'. He handed over the Tuna. It was good but nothing to look at kinda gray and dark. The Ox returned, a nice medium rare, sigh. By now I figured I had made a mistake here. I hacked away at the tenderloin (ask for a sharper knife) . I left half as fat and gristle. The bartenders like to chat, with each other, so service and food are pretty poor. I usually go to El Sur, and I'm sorry that I didn't go there tonight.

Food was great but service was very slow. We ate outside and all our food was delicious especially the cream of calabaza soup. Had several tapas

We were a group of 10 so they sat us outside and it was pretty cold. They have a few heaters but it was cold. We definitely ordered too much food and ended up boxing up the left overs and gave to a homeless person. Food was just ok- ham was cut thick and greasy- my favorite was the risotto. Stuffed meat is like thick sliced sandwich ham- the slices of meat in the picture is spicy sausage.

Great place to experience local tapas in Madrid.

Great place. If you get the a.n.e.l. Salad, prepared to not have vegetables but eggs, potato and tuna instead

We were here pre-pandemic and again in 2023. Absolutely awesome tapas. The tuna and red peppers is great!

I visited on a rainy Thursday night so there wasn't a large crowd and I grabbed an open seat at the end of the bar. A friendly gentleman gave me a menu and asked what I was interested in. When I mentioned the Old Fashioned, he advised that it was an Amaro-based version without the usual bourbon/whiskey spirit. I noticed a Brooklyn and commented that I sometimes made those at home. Very politely he noted that if I was making them in the US, it wasn't with Amer Picon, which isn't available in the US. He's right. So an actual, real Brooklyn it would be! I thoroughly enjoyed the Brooklyn. I also enjoyed some brief conversation with the bartender who was very good. The kind who uses the spoon or straw to taste each drink to ensure it was made properly. As I was paying my bill and mentioning to the gentleman who initially greeted me that I wanted to bring my business partners here later in the week, he wrote his phone number on a business card and told me to call him in advance as the bar got very busy when it wasn't raining. Turns out, this friendly man is Alberto the owner! Guess I didn't do quite as much research as I could have! I regret we weren't able to make a second visit to 1862 Dry Bar on this particular trip, but it is going to be my first stop next time I'm back in Madrid. Great vibe, excellent staff and a classy and friendly owner.
