Came here around lunch time, the place looks decently nice, a bit empty at 1pm but I think because we are early and most people eat lunch even later. There is the choice of sitting inside or outside, and we were indoors. Service was decent and we felt well attented to. Croquettes- Crispy potato-y outside, and cheesey and full of flavor and sauce on the inside. We got a full course, but these are so full and filling and gets monotonous so quickly, we probably should have gotten half instead of whole. 4/5 Red pepper stuffed with monkfish and prawns- By far the best dish here. The sauce is super flavorful, like a wine sauce with sweet tomato. The pepper is slightly sweet as well, and the fish and prawns are cooked very nicely and go great with the sauce. 5/5 Iberian Sausage- the traditional thinly sliced ham is better. We only got half but this tapa is literally just sausage and nothing else, and gets monotonous, and tiring very quickly with how chewy and salty it is. Eat it with the bread they provide. 2/5 Steak with peppers and patatas fritas- The beef is good, soft and flavorful, salted nicely, and on the juicier side. There's too much patatas fritas and that got filling quick. Peppers are salted nicely as well. 4/5 Overall, a very heavy and filling meal, nothing small about the size or heaviness of their tapas. Red pepper (Pimientos rellenos de rape y langostinos) is the dish to order. read more

For an excellent tapas and reasonable price, this was the best to go to in Madrid. We ordered mushroom risotto, black squid with rice, anchovies in olive oil , sangria were great choices. The serving were enough for 2 and right prices. Walking distance to our hotel. There was a long wait because it was so popular especially dinner . Ambiance was just perfect when in Madrid. read more

Saw some good reviews on Yelp. Not very good across the board for me. The AC felt nice so I sat at the nearly empty bar. The bartender asked if I'd like olives or chips. Doesn't matter what you answer, neither came. I ordered the Tuna Tataki and the recommended Ox tenderloin. The Ox came out first, my request of medium was really rare. It came with probably frozen shoestring fries and 3 peppers. The peppers were good. The fries basic. I took a bite of the Ox and decided to send it back to the oven. While it was recooking my Tuna came to the window with a ring of the bell. After about 10 minutes I flagged down the bartender (empty bar) and said 'that's mine'. He handed over the Tuna. It was good but nothing to look at kinda gray and dark. The Ox returned, a nice medium rare, sigh. By now I figured I had made a mistake here. I hacked away at the tenderloin (ask for a sharper knife) . I left half as fat and gristle. The bartenders like to chat, with each other, so service and food are pretty poor. I usually go to El Sur, and I'm sorry that I didn't go there tonight. read more

Popped in here for an early lunch. Very nice menu with lots of options. The portions were quite large. We had the risotto which was excellent. We also had patatas bravas which were perfectly spicy and the huevos revueltos, staff was nice and friendly and even indulged my emerging Spanish. read more

We were a group of 10 so they sat us outside and it was pretty cold. They have a few heaters but it was cold. We definitely ordered too much food and ended up boxing up the left overs and gave to a homeless person. Food was just ok- ham was cut thick and greasy- my favorite was the risotto. 3.5 stars! Great service, extremely fast if you request it. We had a few tapas, the oiled anchovies and olives and the Iberian spiced sausage. We drank local Mahau beer which complimented these simple tapas beautifully. They also gave us some spanish tortillas to sample and delicious toast. Only downside are the prices which are comparable but not competitive. I recommend this place to any visitors that would like a typical tapas bar experience in Madrid. read more

I loved this restaurant, and was the only restaurant I felt a need to go twice during my stay in this city. Not far from the plaza de cibeles, and just off the main street, we were lucky enough to find this place because it was just down the road from our hotel, One Shot 04. Thankfully, it was the first place we dined in spain, so we got off on a great start. With great out-door seating, a nice setting, and a beautiful and extensive wine list, this place would be great just to come and have a drink. Not that the food is something to balk at! The menu isn't terribly large and doesn't offer very much you can't find anywhere else, but even those things that are pretty common are done better here. The service wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't the best either, and though they do offer a menu, I didn't find the choices to be appealing--being very basic--though it did seem to be a good deal. A little more on the expensive side, including both food and drinks, it is definitely worth it. I noticed that another reviewer has pretty much mentioned everything I would want to mention about the food--which is pretty funny--but what the hell, I'll mention it all again anyway. Unlike most of the time that I ordered the jamon, here it's lightly cooked and served warm--VERY nice--and the taste and quality of the aged manchego cheese was really good. They also had abondigas in a tasty sauce, though the abondigas themselves had been overcooked. But one of our favorite things about all the food we ate in spain was the tomato sauce served over the bonito; we sopped it all up with our bread and washed it down with wine, and we suggest that you do too. read more

Very good food /tapas. $$/4 price wise. Excellent friendly service. Homey modern almost shabby chic decor. So good we went 3 times during our stay cuz it was close to the hotel. Had the lagrimas de pollo -good, calamares en Su ti to-squid in ink sauce very good tender and interesting. Always game to try different types of food. Calamares-very good, tomate con ventresca-lot more tomatoes than was necessary, Piripi-ok not really my fav, pringa-ok these sandwiches not really my fav, Jamon iberico-Delish must have, matrimonial-ok not my fav, queso- good, revuelto de papas-all time favorite Spanish dish - eggs over French fries yum we had this in practically every restaurant we ate tapas at. Love love love. Just be mindful, when they ask you for bread or those chips or little snacks things before the beverage you are paying for it per person. It's just how they do it in Europe or at least in Spain we've noticed. Wonderful meals. Great for family meals and friends getting together. Seemed like a real family owned place with pics of I assume owner when he was a a kid or maybe they're his kids. Summer u can sit outside under the canopy and even in winter now I saw people sitting outside (smokers) dining beside the heaters. Very warm and friendly place. stopped here for a quick lunch outside. the patio area was quite nice but i keep forgetting that sitting outside in spain also means dealing with the smokers :-( i just had to deal with that. the tuna salad i had was just ok. the tomato was not sweet at all. overall a disappointment. the tortilla was delicious thank goodness. the lovely waitress who spoke a gazillion languages (spoke to me in french because she thought i was french when i said some french words by mistake when trying to speak broken Spanish) recommended the flan 'cheesecake'. and yes it was sinfully delicious! get that. pricey. read more

The food is great, the service is fine, and the proprietor socializes with the patrons. This is a comfortable place to get a nice dinner, sit inside or outside, and pass the evening with good company. The jamon Iberico is serves slightly warm, which draws out the oils and is wonderful. On the receipt they charged us for bread and chips which we didn't touch, we asked them and they said it was for table setup, I told them it for bread and chips, and the waiter said he doesn't understand English. Went here on a recommendation from the AC Marriott hotel. I don't speak very much Spanish but still managed to order a delicious meal. Had a salad with tomatoes, goat cheese, and walnuts and although it was drenched in salad dressing, the salad dressing was so good I had to dip additional bread in it. Went here while traveling with group of 10 (including 4 kids) Tapas were excellent. The vegetable tempura and meatballs were particularly good. We also tried the gazpacho (I thought was great), jamon serrano, and croquetas. The kids loved the chicken strips.
