Don't bother. I hired W&R in August of 2015 for a financial plan. In March, I finally gave up and…read morerequested my $300 back because I still didn't have a usable plan. The first advisor I was assigned to was inexperienced and not mature enough to admit when he made mistakes. He diregarded my input, left important parts out of the plan he created for me, had math errors and did not have the grace to own his errors or correct them. In fact, he told me one mistake was my fault and stuck with that story even after I pointed out where I had given him the info he said he didn't have. Not someone I'd want to handle my money! I asked for a refund or a new pairing. The second advisor I was assigned to had a great presence and a good grasp of what I wanted. I liked the guy and felt relieved that maybe, after all these months of waiting, I'd get a good plan and get back on track. Sadly, it took a ton of calls and e-mails to get follow up from him. The plan he created looked good and I left pleace. When I got home, I realized a significant calculation had been left out. No problem, I e-mailed him the details and asked for follow up. 6 weeks and a reminder later, I still didn't have that nor had he prepared the forms to move my IRA to them as he'd told me he would. Blessing in disguise! I finally asked for a refund. This was literally over 6 months after I'd paid for a complete financial plan, had 4-5 meetings and put a ton of energy into following up and pushing these advisors along. The refund was issued promptly and without argument, although the e-mail acknowledging it came with a statement about how I'd gotten two plans for the price of one. That made me laugh, and made it abundantly clear that the culture of being unaccountable reaches high up in this particular office. Please keep your money far from these folks. Since I still don't have the plan I hired an advisor for, if you know of a good one please do message me. I'd love to try a new firm, one that takes pride in their work and doesn't require constant prodding to deliver the work they promise.

I am pleased to recommend Phillip H. Gerstner, CPA, of Lighthouse Financial Enterprises, Inc. as…read moreyour mortgage broker. Phil took our project on a year in advance and helped us worked through some challenges that we could not have figured out on our own. He is patient, intelligent, and presents information in a logical and orderly fashion. You will trust him right away as I did. One thing I really enjoyed is, Phil has a "can do" attitude, and seeks to get things done, i.e., he doesn't let things linger on his desk, and you don't have to push him, or follow up incessantly. When you are in the middle of buying a home and already wading through so much paperwork, this is exactly the kind of broker you want to have. We did interview other brokers from the "Best Of Salem" list in addition to Phil, and my wife and I were both shocked at how dismissive and cold some of them were - they talked down to us like we were nobody. I don't know about you, but people like that don't deserve our time and money. Phil Gerstner is a kind person who will advocate for you, and give you good advice. It was an absolute blessing to find him, and we could not have put this deal together without him. If I saw Phil Gerstner on the street even today even after the fact, I would be delighted to stop and have a word with him.

We had been watching property in a very specific part of town for nearly two years. As our country's financial outlook began to turn gloomy, we decided we'd better pull the trigger quickly before rates went to the moon. A friend we trust recommended Phil Gerstner at Lighthouse Home Loans. We reached out to Phil and the rest is history. Understand, we've bought and sold more than a dozen properties in a couple of decades and we have NEVER had such an OUTSTANDING experience as we did with Phil and his team. We thought for certain we'd waited too long and would pay the price through high rates. Phil shopped our loan HARD and found us several options to choose from that made sense and were manageable for us. Phil took the time to teach us about the process, broke each option down into steps that helped us understand potential outcomes BEFORE we made a decision. We have NEVER had a broker take the time and spend the energy doing this before and we have come to VALUE Phil's thoughtful input. I CANNOT RECOMMEND PHIL AND LIGHTHOUSE LOANS STRONGLY ENOUGH. You will be doing yourself, your family, and your future a huge disservice if you don't at least have a conversation with him, talk about your plans, dreams, and options. Thanks Phil and Lighthouse! We LOVE our new home.

I have been doing business with Oregon Community Credit Union for over 20 years and seen some major…read morechanges. I really do not have any comments about rates. So low at this point not worth the time. I find their online system so so, mortgage lending questionable, Staff being friendly/competent mix feelings, and Thurston ATM accessibility bad. They have a "ok" on line banking system; however, I encounter several glitches too. The online system says one thing and then another because of a delay in processing transactions. For example, I paid off a personal POC with the amount stated as owed. When I looked at the amount later it says I over paid. The annoying part is you cannot transfer the over payment back into your account. Instead you have to contact them. Their ATM in Thurston area is constantly breaking down or inaccessible when you need it. It is a real pain to do banking at their Springfield office during high peak periods such as lunch time or after work. Used to be not so. I refinance my home through them; got the low interest I wanted "Yahoo." However not sure if I would go through them again. The first guy I worked with disappeared and left no messages. Turns out he was canned and my paperwork went into limbo! I made several calls until finally someone said, "whoops" and I was left with another guy that went the route of overkill. I had to redo all my paperwork and was given more paperwork than initiated during "round 1." He was not so pleasant to do business with and gave the impression my home mortgage was just another problem that he did not want to deal with. Resolving banking needs with OCCU quickly by the phone is a hit and miss. Simple transaction they do great. However, if you lose your card on the weekend your screwed. They will give you a phone number and you will be sent to automation hell. Like I want to push a lot of buttons and speak to someone in Timbuktu when I am frustrated. Try giving them a call about setting up your account into trust bank account and you will discover the true meaning of incompetent. So my conclusion is simple stuff their right on, online system so so, Thurston accessibility not so good, and handling my refinance mortgage "bomb it." For the most part staff members are friendly except for the mortgage dude. OCCU does not nickel and dime you like the other credit unions/banks. I hope they will fix these issues and get back to the standard level that they used to be at.

Trying to get a reasonable answer from this place is like being trapped behind a horse in a…read moreroundabout. It keeps moving, it keeps producing something, and somehow you are still exactly where you started, only now the air is worse. Help is not really on the menu here. You get rules read over the top of you by people who have already decided listening would be an unnecessary complication. There are rules on the website, rules on the forms, and rules the people on the phone cite with the confidence of a priest rattling Latin at a smoke alarm. None of them appear to match. Point out that the rule being repeated does not apply and they do not stop to consider it. They just repeat it louder. Every person I dealt with was detached and reeked of condescending deafness, armed with a different laminated fragment of whatever policy they decided was in force that day. Their own form asks how many months you want to skip and offers you a 1 or a 2. Pick the 2 and they deny you for picking the 2. All that smiling language about Credit Unions and helping members turns to BS the moment a payment is late. The friendly little facade comes off, and suddenly you are dealing with just another bank that couldn't care less about your financial problem, trust me, make no mistake, because to them? it IS your financial problem. They make it perfectly clear that nothing you say matters unless it's "yes, I can make the payment now." Otherwise it's "let us know when the financial problem goes away." Be careful not to fall into a hole here. What looks like a helping hand may turn out to be a shovel.
