I mistakenly took us to Volendam thinking it would be a quiet chilled fishing place. Nope its a tourist trap!
Anyway after battling the heat and crowds we looked for somewhere to eat outside of the chaos.
On entering we were asked if we wanted to sit indoors or not, the sun was blazing but inside was cooler despite there being no air con.
The walls were painted red and a stuffed peacock guarded the entrance..we were the only ones to sit indoors. Anyway the menu is pretty pricey...and offered the usual sushi dishes such as sashimi, various rolls, miso soup etc.
To start I had a €5 plum wine which despite its lovely vessel it was the most expensive mouthful I have ever purchased.
For mains we shared €8 scallops, beef wesu , spicy tuna roll and a piece of tuna and salmon nigiri.. it came to well over €50.
Everything was tasty there is no denying that but it was too expensive for what you received and I have eaten in a lot of sushi restaurants. I even ate all of the complimentary prawn crackers as I refused to pay any more.
Overall pleasant enough staff but prepare to have a empty wallet and stomach afterwards. read more
