I cancelled so she would be able to fill my spot with someone else. She texted me while I was snowed in saying I owed a cancellation fee that was 3/4 of the price of lashes. I told her that I did not know there was cancellation fee since she had not told me about it while we are on the phone and therefore did not think I should have to pat for it to which she agreed. As an ex-stylist I understanding needing to put another customer in place of a cancellation. She had plenty of time to fill my spot. My guess is that she did not cancel on her book. About a month later I called to book an appointment after being snowed in for 2 weeks. I asked the person who answered to ask her to return my call. She did not. I messaged her a few days later to ask why she did not call me and she replied that she would no longer accept me as a client and that I should have cancelled on the website. I can't find a web site for them. I feel that since I cancelled in time to allow her to book a client and had not contacted her through her website that this is uncalled for and just plain rude and uncaring. I do NOT recommend her services and because of her behavior I do not recommend Roots Beauty Bar for any service. They are not from Paradise and have no feelings or understanding of Paradise residents and all that we have been through with the Camp Fire nor how we treat each other. A little understanding and caring would go far with her. Valerie is NOT recommended!! Do not book with her!

I went here recently after driving around Paradise salons on a Saturday that have signs that say…read more"walk ins welcome" and finding them all to be closed. Finally I found this salon, and came with a photo of what I was aiming for. I knew nothing about this particular salon going in. Upon arrival there were 2 employees standing around and no customers. I was snapped up by the younger of the two. The technique used by the person who cut my hair was less than impressive, I'm really accustomed to people layering my hair with traditional hair cutting scissors, here they use thinning shears and razor. That would be fine if the outcome was OK, I've had a couple stylists uses those techniques and left happy. The outcome on my hair this time was not OK. It doesn't lay well, it's a mess, it looks really thin. I'm not sure what to do with it because I didn't want to take off significant length but now I think I'm going to have to. I'm used to going to random walk in places, but in the future if I'm going to do that I'll drive down to JCP salon or Regis in Chico. Usually when I walk out of a salon I leave happier than when I went in, that wasn't true here. I left knowing I was going to have to get it cut again by someone else. In other situations I might talk to the stylist to get what I want a little better, in this instance she saw I was unhappy with part, went to fix it and it didn't really help. Scared to make things worse, I opted to leave rather than give her an opportunity to fix it again, because I want there to be something left for a better stylist to work with. I had mentioned to the stylist I have a job interview in a few days, so I went hoping to get a nice confidence building and professional haircut. Check the pic, would you feel confident or professional? I'm embarrassed.

The ladies that work there are all very sweet and take the time to make conversation and get to know you. It's never boring sitting there waiting for your hair be done because they always are interested in talking and having fun. They are not the most professional, but that doesn't bother me much. The one thing that does is the cleanliness of the building. There are ceiling tiles missing, and when then get busy, the cut hair is left on the floor (thus the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) Altogether, I'm always happy after going there!

I'm sorry I would have loved to but I can't I have work appointments scheduled tomorrow. I'll have to keep my appointment for 8/28 if that's ok. Da Capo: No worries, just thought she would offer. Me: I appreciate that thank you guys! (Next Day) Da Capo: Hey Tisha, Da Capo front desk. I am reaching out aboutthe appointment on the 28th. There was a mix up with Alli's books, unfortunately she is not going to be in the salon on the 28th. However, we do have a stylist available that same day but the appointment would be with Megan at 9 am. By chance would you be okay with seeing Megan ? We are so sorryabout the mix up. Me: Hi there! I'm not sure how comfortable I feel with a new stylist, I haven't been successful in the past.. that's why I travel for my hair appointments. It is a little strange that you reached out yesterday to re-schedule my appointment for today.. and I mentioned my appointment on the 28th but now she's unavailable.. Da Capo: She was not available to start with unfortunately, We completely understand. I am happy to see if Alli has other days available. *Remind you people schedule these appointments months in advance and take time off from work. Thank you
