Well her reviews are good but BEWARE, if you don't commit to bi-weekly service, she will cancel her crew before they have made their first visit. True story. I never met Beatriz. I have never met her cleaning crew. They were scheduled to arrive at my condo at nine tomorrow. Today, I was asked to commit to bi-weekly service which I did. It is not easy to get decent or above average cleaning. But I made the mistake of adding a caveat to my commitment to bi-weekly service. I said my intent was to keep her team coming every two weeks but their performance might influence that decision. Well, A-Cleaning Service, Beatriz, does not give the benefit of the doubt to the new client. She simply said she canceled and would not send the crew she had promised. Obviously she does not lack for clients and can afford to be picky. Still I wish she had had a strong confidence in her team's ability to do a good job. Instead she pulled the plug on me and it was all over before it began. Not a good feeling. On the other hand I questioned why Beatriz never visited my unit, told me only that a new crew would come tomorrow at 9:00a.m I was not sure what to expect. She told me she would not be coming to make introductions of her crew to me or to inspect the property. And she added they speak Portuguese but can communicate with basic English. Somehow that customer feeling was absent. It appears clients are a dime a dozen and she can pick and choose. Which she did. Tomorrow my condo will NOT be cleaned by A Cleaning Service. As good as can be expected for what we pay. I got several quotes for our apartment and this was one of the most reasonable ones, so we tried it out and found it to be acceptable. (Not rave-worthy, but acceptable) I called a couple references before choosing this service, and another person essentially told me the same thing - this isn't the best cleaning job you'll ever get, but they're adequate and a pretty good deal, and I agree. The maid comes at varying times anywhere in a 4-hour window, which is not a big deal for us, since we're not at home waiting, but her schedule is somewhat erratic. The house gets pretty clean. I'm probably on the picky side, and there are things that I wish she would do a little better or pay a little more attention to, but for the price, it's hard to argue. She cleans in a noisy and efficient whirlwind of activity. We used to have a maid who was slow and steady and worked away for maybe 4 hours each time. This one whips in and attacks the apartment without stopping, banging and clanging things around, finishing in maybe an hour or so. (It's a miracle that only one thing has been broken so far!) It doesn't feel like a super deep clean, but it's definitely clean enough to tide us over every 2 weeks. read more

We remained a client for 6 years with service every 3-weeks, left the DC area for a couple of years, and immediately hired her back when we returned. I've used various cleaning services over the years and was never really satisfied with the result and/or sometimes felt uncomfortable with the staff who were allowed in my home. I came across A Cleaning Service as they clean our office building and the staff and service were fantastic. After using A Cleaning Service since 1995, I recently thought I would try and save money and do it myself. My husband and I work and travel a lot, so I figured it shouldn't be very hard to handle. Less than a month later, I had to come crawling and beg them to take me back. I went into withdrawals for that feeling that everything was clean. Even though my usual Tuesday had been taken already, Ms. Sampaio welcomed back the prodigal son with open arms and set up another convenient day. I never realized all the little "extra" things they did for me without being asked, such as watering my plants when they looked dry, dusting the tops of the kitchen cabinets, or removing a stain from my carpet that I hadn't gotten around to. As with any personal service, staff get sick or can't make it occasionally for one reason or another, but I am never charged for nor inconvenienced by this. The poor cleaner just has to do a little extra cleaning the next time she comes (but at no extra charge). In exchange, I have always been able to request additional services for special occasions or tell them they're not needed once in a while. It's wonderful to come home to a fresh, sparkling house. I now know what it takes to keep it that way and (don't tell ACS) I think it's a bargain. I'm always comfortable with the people they send to my house and have come to rely on them. Maybe I'm different or less demanding, but the odd no-show or problem is a small price to pay for the years of fantastic service I have received on the whole. Any problems I've encountered were always handled to my satisfaction and beyond. If, like me, you need house cleaning, especially long term, you won't convince me there's anyone better. For the people who wrote reviews because they were not contacted, I suggest you try again, it will be worth the effort. I hired A Cleaning Service after reading the favorable February 2009 five star review on this website. Unfortunately, the service has not been anything like the description in that review and I wish I had never hired them! Several weeks after the first person Beatriz sent to my home started working for me the lady did not turn up to work (by the way that lady worked really hard and did a great job but she appears to have left the company). I was not informed by Beatriz that no one was coming and, in fact, I had to contact her to find out what was happening. The lady was apparently ill (I can understand and sympathize with that) but the company owner did not bother to let me know. After that I had a succession of people come to my home and each time they did a progressively worse job. One, team, a brother sister pair, must have used a rag from cleaning the bathrooms (they only used three rags to clean the whole house) to wipe the book shelves because after they left I found that the room stank and later found that it smelled like the cleaning rags that were left in my laundry sink. Last week, again, I had to contact Beatriz as almost an hour after the team should have arrived they had not turned up. Yet again Beatriz did not contact me to explain what was happening instead she put her employees on the spot and had them call me to say that they were lost -- by they way that team had been to my house the previous week. In the end they did such a poor job that in one of the bathrooms there was a gummy residue around the drain which I easily wiped away, gently, with a tissue. Beatriz does not appear to train or inform her employees. For example, I supply my own cleaning supplies and vacuum but every team that came to my door showed up with these items in hand -- she had not bothered to tell them. Further the vacuums that they use can clearly be seen to be filthy and they are transferring whatever is on those vacuums to all of A Cleaning Service's unsuspecting customer homes. They say that they are an eco-friendly company but they do not use strictly eco-friendly products (I started out by having them use their products but switched back to my own) and they are very wasteful -- the brother/sister team used an entire role plus of paper towels to clean the house (oh yes, and three small rags) -- how is that eco-friendly? Beatriz only responds to e-mails if it suits her, she does not appear to train her employees and she does not even keep them informed for their own benefit. Further she does not provide the businesslike courtesy of keeping in contact with her customers. There are so many people out there who need work, who really care about their work and who want to do a good job. I would not use this service! read more

One of the things that I love and appreciate so much is the fact that I have dogs and cats and the extra fur (ugh) is never a problem nor is having the animals greet them in the morning. They are dependable, honest and trustworthy. I have never had an issue with them; nothing ever broken or missing. When extra attention is needed in a specific area, I e-mail Beatriz and ask and voila, it is done. Her prices are extremely reasonable. We have had the same lead (Fabiane) for three years and little change in the rest of the crew. Phenomenal for a cleaning service, in my opinion. In the past 3 years there was only one time they couldn't make it because the lead was down with a serious case of the flu. They contacted me and rescheduled right away. Like mail carriers, come rain or wind or sleet or snow - they show up. When I have asked to rearrange days or times they do their very best to accommodate me. NOT ONCE have they ever neglected to reset the burglar alarm - which is a big deal to us. They are more reliable than my husband and I in that respect. A Cleaning Service did a great job! It's rare for me to write reviews unless I feel someone went above and beyond to provide me exceptional service and a cleaning service did that. I was looking for a cleaning service that would pay attention to detail and be able to get out tough stains. I needed someone who would be careful on hardwood floors and know how to treat carpets. I recently moved out of an apartment of a brand new building. I was the first tenant so they were expecting the apartment to look the same as when it was rented to me. The building even left me a list of what my cleaning charges could look like and it was really expensive. I have 2 dogs, a cat and two birds and all animals had left behind a big mess. I'm a horrible cook so you can only imagine what the stove top and oven looked like. I had mud stains throughout each room and feathers from my birds in hard to reach areas. After reading many reviews and comparing prices, I decided to go with a cleaning service. They were super easy to schedule, on time and fast. They did an amazing job.
