3rd party contacted through triple AAA. I have had the most absolute worst luck in the past year with car issues and I just HAD to have the , car battery die out of nowhere while I'm in a PAID parking structure. We were planning to go out to dinner and it was already 7:30 PM and I wanted to head home after. I was in full cosplay and looked like a freak I'm sure, but triple AAA updated me that they would take 80 minutes to get there. I was annoyed, but then it quickly went down to only like 20 minutes, enough for me to eat a little bit at the local restaurant and then walk back to the structure just as the towing company got there. Despite it being a small and crowded tight parking structure with lots of people leaving and going, Philip was super patient, helpful and went back and forth from my car to his truck to move it when people had to leave. He checked the battery life and jumped it. Sadly, there was only like 4% of battery life left. He could change the battery for me and I'd get warranty on it too. I did the price comparison on Google and with the labor and new battery and the quickness and convenience it was truly worth it since every where else would take longer and cost more and then I would not even be able to go to the convention afterwards. I chose to change my battery then and there and it didn't take too long either. Philip was courteous and informative too with all of my simple questions. I just had to change the clock and radio stations after, but now my car is good to go! They even confirmed the ETA for 5:07 PM. By 5:10 PM, no one had arrived, so I called again. The girl who answered this time said there was no record of any tow request and even tried to claim she hadn't received any calls in over an hour, basically trying to make it seem like I was wrong. Meanwhile, my family and I are stuck on the 3'rd lane of a busy interstate with two kids under 5 in the car. How to even start this review off? My car was taken to an in-pound station due to being in an accident on the 710 freeway, and it no longer being able to be operatable. I called AAA to please take my car to the nearest collision center to my house. AAA then called the nearest towing company in their region, and Checkers was sent out. Once my car was picked up, it was taken to a collision center; the tow truck driver dropped it off. While the tow truck driver was dropping my car off, they placed it on the wall of the collision center and damaged the entire back end of my car. The collision center informed me of what was going on, and nothing was ever told to me by the tow truck company. My claims agent told me to talk to the Checkers company to figure out what was going on. Another mistake on my end for thinking this would solve anything. The owner, Jose, is the most ill-tempered person I have ever spoken to. Whenever I had to talk to this person, my stomach would turn. In our last conversation, he stated he was going to drive to the collision center to verify what was going on to review the cameras and pictures. I informed the collision center he would see them, and they were expecting him. He never showed up, and they started the work since other repairs were needed. He finally called the collision center yesterday, March 25, 2023, and said he wanted to see the damage, and they told him they completed it on their end as this was almost an entire month of back and forth, and I needed a car. He got mad and started yelling at the workers. This was highly unprofessional, and Jose, the owner of Checkers, told me I should have gone to him and he could have also fixed it. Too bad I can't give them zero stars. They sent a flatbed to get a car in an underground garage. That meant we would have to get the car out of the garage, and my friend was eight minutes away with the key. I had to call for another tow. When AAA told me it had been assigned to A Checkered I called A Checkered to let them know that they had sent the wrong vehicle and, in spite of that, we could have handled the problem if their driver had been willing to wait another three minutes. Service was prompt and they were very honest about the availability of their trucks. No false timelines or promises. They told me they couldn't move my car until the next morning. Yesterday (09/05/21) my friend's truck broke down behind my apartment building near downtown Long Beach. We contacted AAA to get a tow to his chosen repair garage and there was a miscommunication with AAA that led to an unpleasant conversation with the dispatcher at this company. After this conversation, the dispatcher cancelled the tow truck and told AAA that we made negative comments with profanity about AAA. This was a total lie. We never cursed or said anything negative about AAA, but the dispatcher was incredibly rude and unhelpful the entire time. Because she cancelled the truck, we were stranded for another 2 hours before securing a tow. If this had been a more dangerous situation, our lives could have been placed in danger because of a rude dispatcher who made it difficult for us to get the truck picked up. We are going to further pursue this situation with the Better Business Bureau and AAA. read more

Submitted a ticket to AAA to come and check my battery, although I knew my battery was dead, so that they can do their roadside battery replacement. Since you can't just ask for a battery, they sent out the tech from A checkered Towing and he got here in about 20 minutes. Super quick. Ran the diagnostics and the battery came out close to dead. The tech was not pushy at all, he offered to recharge my battery and seeing if it would give me a few more days or swapping it out since he had stock in his truck. Since I had gone to the dealer for an oil change recently, I knew the battery was dead so opted for the swap. It's honestly cheaper than going to autozone and getting your own battery. Next time you need a battery call AAA or A Checkered Towing to come and change it for you. I'll never change my own battery again after how smooth today went and they even came around 11pm! Tonight William saved my friends life. On her way to Long Beach from LA her car cut off . William came out as fast as possible sooner then the ETA. He was so kind and sweet. He managed to get her car towed to the safest spot possible and it was far from easy. Ambitious enough he pushed a giant heavy SUV perfectly into a parking spot , sweating bullets. What an awesome company I'm so grateful that they saved me from being smashed into bits on the side of the road. I have a small history of being forgetful lets take a quick trip down memory lane why don't we.... You would think that I would have better sense than to drive on an empty tank.
