First, I do not know why Yelp is setting my location as San Fransisco when I am in Chicago :) Review 2 weeks later: Maybe they did a great job but do not want to deal with minor issues that they caused after a repair. For example, I discovered that air valve cap was lose and tire was losing air. I did not drop it off this way, so I should not have this way when I pick it up. Now my car is parked in a driveway at home with a flat tire. I cannot do anything and they would not come and fix it knowing that it is their fault. Also, after picking up the tire had two scratches. My car is a brand new car and those scratches were not their. This is all for a tire on a back right side. Now the front right tire is missing air valve cap, how? It was there when I dropped off the carr. On 3/17 I was told there was a part missing and they were going to order. Now I canoot even go to get that part fixed. And I did tell them that I was swamped on 3/17, which meant 'hey I have no time for anything else we will talk the following week'. But what happened, they called me 2 days later wanting to talk. I was in the office not able to answer a phone. Now they complaining that I did not pick up my phone. Well, I had 12 hours days every day and if I do not have mental capacity, I do not. I am going to contact Toyota know to get log file to show that tire pressure was going down while the car was in the shop. I also sent a long email on 3/24 detailing all the issues, and I was told in the email on 3/25 that it was an abuse. So, I contacted insurance companies immediately to report the situation. Minor things can be fixed instead of causing a bigger problem that was not there. ***** And this was an original review: A-CARR's is an amazing body shop that I would recommend to everyone, especially, to women who do not often deal with repairing cars, insurance, and a process in general when need to have a car fixed after an accident. I have to admit I felt lost when I ran into multiple things needed to repair for my car. I have never dealt with insurance before, I did not know how much it would cost me, how much and what insurance would cover, and how the entire process would look like. A-CARR'S team did an amazing job explaining the process to me and communicating throughout the process. They even managed communication with an insurance team and sharing details about repair process. The owner of the body shop truly puts his heart and mind providing services, ensuring customer satisfaction and building a strong and confident relationship with a customer. The owner has been running the car repair business for 40 years. They not even repaired the damage from the accident, but even fixed breaks and acceleration in my Toyota Corolla Cross. Now, the car is accelerating so well that I do not need to worry anymore, and it makes me very happy. The dealership was not able to fix it, and I have heard that a lot of people have been complaining about it. I received outstanding service from A Carrs Carstar, especially from Max. I recently walked outside to go to work one day to find that someone had stolen all of the tires off of my Honda Fit. Yeah, that actually happens... I called my insurance, a claims rep came out and gave me an estimate and, after a few days, my tireless car was towed to A Carrs Carstar. Max gave me an update on my car's parts delivery and expected completion date; it seemed like smooth sailing. But the next day I got a call from my claims rep informing me that there had been additional damage incurred in between the time of the initial estimate and my Honda's arrival at A Carrs. He also told me that I would have to file an additional claim for the damage, which meant that I would also have to pay an addition $1000 deductible, and I was already paying $1000 on the first claim for the stolen tires. I didn't know what to do. This didn't seem fair as I had no control over protecting my immobilized car. In my mind, all of this damage should be covered under the original claim, as it is all a part of the same sequence. But I didn't know how to express this to my insurance company without filing a second claim. Two minutes after that conversation I got a call from an unknown number. It was Max. He told me that he had overheard what my claims rep told me and that there is no reason why I should have to file a second claim, that he's been working in this business for over 25 years and that he has seen my situation before and that it has never been necessary to file a second claim. Over the next few days, Max guided me through the ordeal, giving me his opinion on how I should handle the situation. What amazed me was that he was going to get payed no matter what; he just wanted to help and not see someone get, in his words, "railroaded into paying something they shouldn't have to pay for." At the end of it, I didn't have to file a second claim; my insurance company covered all of the additional damages on the first claim. I have thanked Max and the A Carrs Carstar staff many, many times in person, but I would like to do it again in this review. Excellent service, quality repairs, super helpful, friendly, professional staff. I swear they must be taking happy pills! A Carrs Carstar was recommended by my insurance company after an accident. Since I had no direct experience with them, I checked them out with an initial phone call. I spoke with Tony about the damage - very professional and helpful. So I decided to take the car in for an estimate. Once again thorough, professional reasonable. I had to delay my appointment because of some other priorites and after a few weeks, Max called me to check in to see if I still was interested in service. Nice touch. By the time I got the car in there, I had also been hit (and run) in a parking lot and had a third brush with another car. (Not my year for auto accidents). So now we're talking three different claims. UGH! Carstar worked directly with insurance company across all three claims. Max sorted out the details across all three estimates, all three claim numbers, which damage went with which claim. He suggested and found an after market part that made sense for me to buy and have installed, as the price difference was not much more than the repair and would actually look better. They did what they said, when they said, kept me informed and did a great job. The car looked practically new. The guys in the garage were really friendly too, keeping the garage open a few extra minutes on a Saturday when I realized I had left my garage door opener in the car and needed it for my rental. When it comes down to it, the most important aspect is quality, reasonably priced repairs. They've got that down. But, the great attitude, friendly service and commitment to customers makes having to get car repairs a little less painful! I was in an accident with my new 2013 Fusion. Ouchh, The good news was, no one was hurt and my insurance company was very responsive getting an estimator out to look at my car. He was an independent estimator and I liked the way he presented options and gave me advice and never needing a Chicago bodyshop I asked him for some recommendations. One of the three was A Carrs Carstar. I checked the two places and after visiting A Carrs Carstar, I did not need to go to the 3rd option. I liked the fact that they were busy (popular) all the employees were working diligently, they have been in business over 20 years, and they did ALL the work with the insurance company. Rich gave me regular updates on the status of my repairs and when they found additional work that was hidden until dismantling the car they contacted the insurance company and got the approval. My only conversation with Travelers Insurance was when the adjuster called me to let me know they had approved the additional work. My only disappointment with the entire process was it took an extra week to complete the job. I still gave the 5 Star rating because this was due to Ford not having replacement parts for 2013 vehicles readily available. The car looked beautiful when I picked it up and after 5,000 miles everything still looks and is functions like new. Max and his team were all friendly and informative. After going to two other places this was one of the many recommended Liberty Mutual body shops so thought I would give them a chance. Max immediately greeted me with such great respect and provided great service. The price of the estimate came way below the other two garages. If that was enough to my surprised they said my car would be done in 3 days. The two previous other places estimated between 2-3 weeks etc.. So I decided to go with A Carrs CarStar for all the above reasons. To my surprised during the process of them working on my car they called me with updates still estimating three days for completion. To my surprise it actually was done by the third day but early in the morning ready for pickup. Upon arriving to the shop to pick up my car I checked out while out on the street it was parked. It looked great and I was very surprised to find a flower inside waiting for me that said thank you. The final checkout was seamless and now here I am writing this yelp review immediately after since I was so impressed with their service. I'm not one to write many Yelp reviews, but I wanted to give these guys a shout out for a job well done and for making what could have been a huge hassle into a breeze. I first brought my car in after an unfortunate experience with a garage attendant running my car into a wall. I didn't need an appointment for an estimate, showed up at my convenience, and I was in and out in less than ten minutes with a printed estimate. I was able to bring my car back within a couple of weeks and my car was in and out of the shop in less than 3 days (earlier than they had promised). The work was well done the first time around with no need to return for any reason. Even as a young girl with zero car knowledge, every single staff member was extremely friendly and helpful to me. Prices were fair and I didn't feel scammed at all. To top it off, my car was squeaky clean inside and out when they returned it (the interior was pretty dirty when I dropped it off), they gave me a free ice scraper, and left a flower for me inside the car! Hail damage and a lot of it on my beloved Subaru Forester! I do a lot of professional work with my car involving clients so appearance matters. I called Max Schultze on a friend's recommendation. He had me come in at a time convenient for me and in a short time frame. Max greeted me and began the process of inspecting my car. He explained the procedure needed. After having already visited the insurance company and having a questionable repair quote, I decided to leave the car in Max's hands. In a week they were done. I recently took my vehicle to A Carrs Carstar to be repaired. I was visibly upset about the damage to my vehicle, and Rich did an excellent job from start to finish. He was extremely patient, listened to all of my concerns, and was always up front and honest with me. He kept me posted on the status of my vehicle throughout the repair process, and was extremely professional. He was also very accomodating- from dropping me off at the El, and coordinating a rental for me as well. He definitely saved me time throughout the process. The repairs and work A Carrs Carstar did was outstanding. I had just bought my vehicle, and was extremely picky about having everything done right. The vehicle looks perfect, and even I can't tell there was ever any work done to it. "Above and Beyond...." My close friend Pete K. recommended I use these guys when my right rear window got smashed out by a big rock around 2:30 pm on a Saturday (I was at fault; trusted that nobody would do that to steal a laptop in back seat at that time of day....) Max and Rich and the very cool valet (apologies I don't know your name) were all super helpful, professional, and very helpful. My OEM window was not available same day so they instead went "above and beyond" and put in a window on my 2011 VW "CC" as a stop-gap and told me to come back so they could (without any additional fee) re-install OEM VW glass. The result was professional help, above and beyond service, and great care by "A Carrs Carstar" -- thumbs up for these guys anyone who needs auto body work done is foolish not to seek these guys out (unless perhaps you have a Bugatti or some auto exceeding $200K in value)...... I got the best service I could have asked for from Carstar...way above and beyond what is ever expected. I was moving out to Chicago with my (new) car packed full of my stuff when a car's tire blew out and flew at my car. I came to Carstar on recommendation of my insurance company. Unfortunately (although great for them!) they were completely booked for a couple days, which left me with the logistical nightmare about what to do with my stuff (move in date wasn't for a while). Max graciously offered to let me store all of my belongings IN HIS OFFICE! I'm incredibly thankful that they were helping me out so much, and when I got my car back it was even better than it was before. I never once had to be in touch with my insurance agency, and Carstar helped me organize everything with Enterprise. I couldn't have asked for better service or friendlier people! The passenger side of my car was gnarled after an accident. My insurance company made the referral to A. Carr, and I am glad that they did. The service was really good. The team was patient and walked me through the process of what they were going to do, without all the jargon. Plus, the facility was clean, organized, and orderly. I was happy to not see the cinematic, junky, greasy, chop shop with the team screaming at each other, pin-ups of Victoria Secret models from the 90s, and ZZ Top blaring in the background (though I do like "Sharp Dressed Man"). I also had a complication around which they were willing to work: I was leaving for an out of town trip two days before the vehicle would be ready, and they assured me that I would not have to pay the garage fees. Max was AMAZING!!! He was sooo sweet. This was my first car and I'm currently a college student, I rear ended a hummer with my little Toyota Matrix and it destroyed my hood despite it only being at 2 mph. My family has been going to this shop for a long time and told me to call. The estimate they gave me was amazing! Way lower than any other estimate I had gotten yet. They told me to drop it off on Monday and they had everything done (hood, paint, washed and cleaned the inside out) by Wednesday. They called me to keep me updated and were super polite. I'm moving to Wisconsin for school but if my friends or I ever have car trouble again I will definitely make the drive back to Chicago to have Max and his crew check it out. 5 weeks ago I was rear ended and my insurance agent recommended that I have my car towed to Max. I contacted Max the next day and he was friendly and professional and was eager to address my concerns. I had an estimate in a timely manner and every time I contacted Max with another question he responded right away and no matter how many emails I sent he was always courteous in his response. Max had my car ready sooner than he estimated cutting down my cost for a rental. I have an older car that had some rust holes. It was a borderline call to either sell the car and try my luck in the used marketplace or have some repairs made to a car that I have maintained and driven carefully for the past 13 years. I received three estimates and the one from Max Schulze's gang was BY FAR the lowest of the three. His quote made the "fix it" decision an easy one. I was blown away by the work his team did on the car. The panels that they fixed were truly like new again. Somehow they blended the new paint with the 13 year old paint perfectly. I was struck by another vehicle, incurred minor injuries and was hurting and upset, so after waiting for the Police to fill out the report, making my necessary insurance contacts and arrangements for getting home, etc., I was completely stressed, exhausted. and just wanted to get home. When the tow truck came for my car, the driver said he was sorry for my accident and asked if I was okay... that was just the beginning of how nice and accommodating everyone at CARSTAR was - weeks later, they even jump started my car so I could get my personal items from my totaled car's trunk. This is the first Yelp review I have written. My insurance company directed me to A Carrs Carstar. I am absolutely delighted with both of them. Not only is my car as good as new, it was accomplished in four days, even though it had been promised in a week! My car was detailed and looked miles better than when it went in, there was a flower waiting for me in the passenger seat, AND they had replaced a rear light that had gone out!!! WHAT IS THAT??? 2nd time I've used the shop. Each time great service, great communication, they texted me with updates. First time I got rear ended about 3 blocks from the shop so took it there. I live in the suburbs 20 miles away and they did such a good job took it there again. First time was with my insurance company State Farm everything went seamless, Second time was my kid's fault, so was just paying myself. Got an estimate close to my house then brought to the shop and they beat the estimate price without knowing the original estimate price. They explained what type of parts they were going to replace and gave me an option on the headlamp to be new or used. Honest people, great service! read more

Unfortunately I have had to bring my car in multiple times for body work. The shop has handled everything from minor fender scrapes to major damage with speed and care. My car is an unusual color, but the color matching and body work is flawless and the car looks like new. Everyone in the shop is very friendly, they have water and pop available to customers and they also offer a free shuttle service to nearby locales. The driver even refused to take the tip I offered. All their work estimates were right on the dot, and they kept me informed about progress via email. I really hope I don't need any more body work on my car, but if I do, this is the place I'll be taking it. read more
