Do you value great customer service, being respected and employees being held accountable? If so do not go to this shop. Ester, one of the service reps there lacks customer service skills. She was verbally combative, condescending and disrespectful. She refused to do what was necessary in order for me to make the best the decision possible for my car and she refused to let me speak with her supervisor when I asked for him. Because of Ester and her manager Zachary's unwillingness to hold her accountable and at least have a talk with her due to her "being there 20yrs" (his words), I decided not to have my car serviced at this shop. Now I have to find another shop and am now delayed in getting my car fixed. You know how this feels if you work hard and have a full time career and responsibilities. It's already difficult to get your car to the shop in the first place. If the management there is unwilling to have a talk with their employees when their employees are not being professional, then what else are they not doing when employees are found to be unprofessional? I have had enough cars to know that service starts from the front and front represents the attitude and professionalism of the shop. Why would one take the chance to have there car serviced at a place where accountability and great customer service is not an important standard for their operation? I've owned at least 8 vehicles and have never had this type of an issue, where the service rep has a problem with answering questions, getting a customer an answer to his/her questions and refusing to allow a person to speak to their supervisor. Don't patronize places that don't care about customer and only wants your money or in my case the insurance money. read more

I've literally never written a review before, but this place is too much. Walked in the front door and the owner said "Jesus C--- not another f--ing one." Literally first words spoken to me in person. I had decided to get my car fixed here because they promised 4 days of rental car coverage, and I foolishly didn't have that covered in my insurance policy. After leaving my car there, of course, every employee has a different answer about that coverage. When asked if they will make good, they hassle, accuse, berate, and demean me, as if somehow I should be aware of intricacies of their own deals that even their own employees don't understand, and provide misinformation about. They resort to personal attacks in the way a child argues some fact-less logic. It was easily the worst customer service experience of my life. Almost comical. If I wasn't out hundreds of dollars I'd almost enjoy sharing this tale. As for the actual repair? Paint peeling away after 1 week, as if a light breeze gently exposed their shoddy, shiddy work. A fitting period at the end of the unfortunate chapter of my life where I had to cross paths with the troglodytes who dwell in that cave. This is the same shop as A-CARR CARSTARS, which Yelp reports as closed. Not sure why. Read their reviews for more tales from the crypt. read more

I got rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me, so there was damage to both the back and front end of my vehicle. I was recommended to A-CARR's Carstar by my insurance, Metromile. I worked with Mark while my repairs were done and he was communicative, pleasant, and informative throughout the whole process. He was up front about the repairs and the amount of time it would take to get my car back, and he kept on my insurance agent for needed information even when she was not very responsive. In the end, my car looked fantastic after the body work they did, and they even cleaned the interior and left a flower and thank you note when I picked it up. All around nice guys who do great work. It's taken me over a year to write this review, bc of how angry I am with my experience at this auto shop. My car was brought here after a hit-and-run on recommendation by my insurance company. The damage was extensive, so I was surprised when the owner stated my car would be fixed and not totaled. I was doubtful, but he was super friendly, personable and reassuring of their quality of work. The reviews here were also glowing. The repair work proceeded, and I was pleasantly surprised when the owner sent me an update including photos of the progress. Although doubt came over me again when I saw the paint job, i wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt through completion. Pickup day arrived, and the owner was again super friendly, and excited to show me my car. On just brief glance, I was able to see the cosmetic defects: paint job was grainy and splotchy, car pieces were misaligned, glue was left on car, and there was a newly chipped area -- thankfully, i had photos to prove as the owner was vehement about the chip being from the accident. He then went on a rant about how everyone nitpicks and goes looking for things that are wrong. I was taken aback, confused, and uncomfortable by how unprofessional, cold and aggressive he became as I was not trying to cause problems and very nicely approached the issues to him. Upon driving, my car literally started falling apart. The left windshield trim had come loose and began flapping around as I drove. I made a quick stop to look underneath the trim, and saw that they had used double-sided tape to attach the windshield trim. Double-sided tape. A week or two after having it repaired, the right windshield trim detached and flew off while driving. (Thankfully, it narrowly missed the cars behind me). To make matters worse, there was audible rattling and creaking. Overall, it felt extremely unsafe to drive, so I brought my car back to the shop. The owner drove it around and said he couldn't hear anything and stated that I would have to pay to have the car looked at further. He stated that they don't look for internal damage after accidents and only fix what is externally visible. I had to repeat what he said back to him as none of it made any sense. I ended up using a different auto shop to get the car looked over again, and to attach the other windshield trim as I could not trust this shop with their constant lies and dishonesty. Upon inspection by the new auto shop, they had deemed the car unsafe to drive. Ended up requiring several more thousands in repair work including struts and suspension. Also, discovered frame damage that hadn't been disclosed by this shop. I believe the owner knew my car should be totaled, but did not want to list all of the damages, and cut corners so he could pocket the extra money. Worst of all, he put me in an unsafe car. Do not be fooled by the owner's friendliness. They are dishonest and corrupt. read more

The person who works the phone is very rude and called back just to argue an estimate. Who does that? Very unprofessional. I can understand pointing out a misunderstanding but that is not what she did. She called and immediately started to argue and was defensive instead of understanding. They excepted a third party payment and then when we didn't do the work with them would not refund the payment to us. Even after they acknowledged they shouldn't have accepted the payment from the 3rd party. Now we have to go back and try to get money from the person who hit our car which took us forever to receive in the first place. We also had a dent fixed that was not part of the body repair estimate and was told they will only accept cash and normally they would accept a credit card payment which I can only assume was to be vindictive. When we went to pick up the car we paid in cash and said nothing but someone at the store came out and started swearing at us and tried to kick our car. I don't care what happened before that it was totally uncalled for and it seemed he would have hit me if given the chance. I wasn't even involved in the issue prior so not sure why I got called an F----- C--t. I filed a formal complaint with headquarters. We will relay our experience to Fox Ford who recommended this business. read more

Had a conversation with the owner of the shop, Max, who let me know the quality control issue "wasn't his problem" and that I needed to take the car to a dealer to fix completely, there was nothing he was going to do. Two different shops wasted hours of my time and told me that it was going to cost close to $2000 and take upwards of 3 weeks to get my car back. My dealership suggested Carstar and I'm glad I heeded their advice. I brought my car to the shop on Monday morning at 7:30. Max, the owner, looked at it, shot straight with me, gave me an unbelievably reasonable estimate, and told me my car would be ready in two days pending no delays on parts. I was out of there in less than 10 minutes. I thought it was too good to be true. Lo and behold, they called me today (Wednesday) at 11:30 AM and told me my car was ready to be picked up. I cannot begin to tell you what a relief it was to get my car back in such a short amount of time at a fraction of the cost. The work is great. I'm from Arizona and not used to the winter, so accidents tend to happen to me around this time of year. I went to A-Carr's because Allstate referred me to them. I was nervous to find someone because like everyone, I don't really hear good things about car repair businesses. Fortunately, A-Carr's was not one of those businesses and I had a VERY positive experience. I had a bit of separation anxiety from my car so I called every other day but the owner and staff were ALWAYS friendly and receptive to my questions. No nasty surprises. No bad attitudes. No scams. No gimmicks. Just a very good friendly team, who happen to also be very talented at what they do. They took my car immediately knowing that they would be backed up with the polar vortex coming in and causing a-lot of car damage. And leading up to picking up my car, I was terrified of having to pull out of the building that's conveniently (and also not so conveniently) right on Western in the middle of rush hour. But thankfully I didn't have to, they had my car out on the street for me and a technician used his car to give me a clear in the busy traffic to pull out safely and swiftly. I was greeted and helped by the owner Max and team every step of the way from when I walked in the door to request repair estimate (completed the day of) to picking up my car once repair was completed (less than a week's time). The estimate provided to my insurance was very thorough along with the required documentation and photos. Cool feature was receiving automated messages and online repair tracker too. There was a severe lack of accurate timely communication. The estimate was provided within a few days. Unfortunately, the repairs took nearly two months instead of the estimated 16 days. Also, the final cost of the repairs was over twice as much as the initial quote. Apparently, the passenger's side rear suspension had to be taken apart and put back together four times. Extenuating circumstances exist but communicating these in a timely and transparent manner will go a long way towards accepting these delays. A rental car was eventually provided after i contacted my insurance agent and expressing my well earned frustration with the delayed repairs and lack of communication. Furthermore, on separate occasions the owner Max, his son Zack, and another employee Mark, were condescending and antagonistic when they did speak with my wife and i. Lastly, two weeks after the repairs were "completed", I received an email stating a piece of molding had arrived at the shop and asked if i could bring the car by to install the molding. To be honest, i am surprised i was even contactedabout the pieces that hadn't been installed when my car was completed. This was a Very poor experience. i recommend you look elsewhere for your car repairs. In relation to the CoVid-19 pandemic, no one in the shop or office appeared to be wearing masks. Please look at other negative reviews for example of the condescension and antagonism. read more

The vast majority of my Yelp reviews are for restaurants, but I have had multiple outstanding experiences with A Carrs Carstar and felt they deserved some recognition. For those used to reading my restaurant reviews, Carstar is the Alinea of body shops. I have used Carstar on about six occasions during the past dozen years (no, I am not that bad a driver, my car just seems to be a magnet for crazy Chicago drivers); on each occasion Carstar has performed impeccable work and returned my car in better shape than prior to the accident. I have never had to bring my car back to have anything redone. Needing body work on your car is never pleasant, but Max and his team at Carstar help make a difficult situation much easier. They work well with insurance companies, so there is less work and stress on your end. They are in walking distance of an Enterprise if you need to rent a car while yours is in the shop. They have always made good on their estimate as well as completed the work on schedule. Max and all his staff I have encountered have been personable, friendly and knowledgeable. With body shops it is often a challenge to find people who are trustworthy and people who perform solid work, but with A Carrs Carstar you receive both. I will continue to use them anytime my car needs work and highly recommend their services. read more

Don't you hate it when someone hits you? It's such a pain to deal with insurance companies, car repairs, rental cars... etc. The guys at A Carrs Carstart made it easy for me. The insurance company recommended them and they were pretty close to us. They gave us an estimate and told us we could bring the car back the next day. They were all very nice. They offered us beverages and were so polite. They handled all communication with the insurance company and called the rental car company to come pick us up. The car was done when they said it would be done and looked great. The whole front end of the car was brand new and looked beautiful. Checking out was so quick an easy. I got a copy of the paper work and my keys and was out the door in no time! If I have anything that needs to be done, you can bet I'll go see these guys again. read more

Overall, decent service. I had my car serviced by them over 5 yrs ago. My last car was a lease and prior to returning it, I wanted to get all the dings out of it to not be penalized for anything upon returning. They did a good job. Last summer, I was driving someone's car and I hit a pole as I was entering my parking lot. In remembering the service received the last time I had a car repaired, I decided to go back. I went in for a estimate and that went well. Included in the estimate, I wanted them to clean up additional dings and scratches. I was expecting the amount quoted, so no surprises. Then they told me to schedule a day that was convenient. I called back about 2 wks later and made the appointment. I dropped the car off on a Monday and picked it up on Wednesday (by 1p). As I picked it up, the damaged side looked great. However, as I walked around the car, none of the dings or scratches were done. So the guy doing the work told me no one told him about that. Then I told him to look back at the quote. Of course, it was on there. So, he did a few of them and proceeded to tell me that the rest could be taken out by getting it detailed. While I was there he took care of a few. I would have preferred him doing the rest as this is what I asked them to do. So, if all of the areas were taken then I would have no problem giving them 4 stars. However, since they just recommended me to go to a detailer for another 100 bucks, that just doesn't sit well with me. But for the body work, I would go back. read more
