I would NEVER recommend Cali Van Medical Transportation! I had a scheduled procedure that required…read moreanesthesia, and I would need a driver to get me home. I contacted Cali Van and spoke with Nick. I explained the situation and my needs, as I would need no special equipment. I was informed that this is a common service they provide. This conversation took place on a Monday, and the upcoming Thursday was the day of the procedure. I was also told I just needed to give the company information to the medical staff so they would know who would be picking me up, and they would be able to coordinate the discharge time with their arrival. I used ride share to get to the procedure location. I gave the contact information to the nurse, who told me my transportation would need to be confirmed before the procedure could even begin. I was later informed they were not able to connect with anyone at Cali Van, and the voicemail was full. I then started calling and had the same result; no answer, and the voicemail was full. I'm now starting to panic because I had prepared for the procedure, and I had confirmed with Nick the date and time of my transportation need. Fortunately, I was able to find someone else to pick me up after the procedure. It's been approximately 3 weeks since this happened, and neither Nick nor anyone else from Cali Van has attempted to contact me to acknowledge their failure to be available for my scheduled pickup after a medical procedure. The lack of professionalism from Cali Van was unacceptable, stressful, and inexcusable for a company that is working with people in sensitive medical situations. Who just ignores a confirmed medical transportation appointment pickup? Cali Van Medical Transportation does!

Because of her narrow staircase which has a 90-degree turn to get upstairs to her bedroom, we HAD to have a "stair chair." I called several companies until I found Cali Van. They had the specialized chair and it worked beautifully. The driver sent out, Jasur (sp?), was kind, efficient, considerate, and cared about my mom. Mom (95 yrs old) had a fractured leg and had to be handled very carefully to avoid any unnecessary pain and Jasur treated her with kid gloves. The price was more than reasonable. They were on time (actually early!). With all the stress associated getting Mom home & coordinating all the other services, Cali Van was the ONLY ONE that performed seamlessly and didn't add to my stress level. When they first cared for my father, I was in love. They took incredible care of him. I told them…read morethat I would give glowing reviews for them in Yelp. Then he fell and broke a vertebra in his spine. I do not know the circumstances of his fall, or where the caregiver was at the time. I'm sure they were nearby and just could not stop the series of events that led to my fathers injury. Because he ended up in the hospital, we stopped Home Instead services. When we signed dad up with Home Instead, I gave them a credit card for the deposit as I did not have any checks with me. A one time administrative fee of $75.00 was added to the charge and that was fine with me. It was just to set him up in their system. I was asked for my home address so an invoice could be mailed. At that point my thought was that I would pay them by check when I received the invoice. I don't remember at any point if it was mentioned that they do not accept checks or even if it was in all the small print on the paperwork I signed. I received an invoice in the mail and paid the invoice by electronic check through the bank. At the sometime they charged the amount on the invoice to the credit card on file and added an $80.00 fee for using the credit card. After a number of phone calls they eventually reversed the amount on the credit card by the amount I paid by check but the $80 remained on the credit card and I was told by Home Instead it would NOT BE REMOVED!!!! They explained after I had the check sent that their policy is that they do NOT ACCEPT CHECKS! Apparently they only charge on credit cards and add a fee of whatever percentage to the charge. I am finding that this is common. HOWEVER....They should have reversed the $80 fee as the bill was paid by check which they DID accept because it was electronic and the funds were removed from the checking account once it left the bank. So I could not cancel the check. But the $80 sat on the credit card and I finally just paid it to get this whole mess behind me. They only accept payment via credit card and charge the fees back to you. Absolutely no checks allowed....that is unless they are reimbursing YOU then it's okay to be in check form. They sent me a check for the deposited amount as we did not use them on the final night minus the $75.00 administrative fee. So they kept the administrative fee of $75 AND and a credit card fee of $80. I would recommend but only for their care, NOT THEIR ADMINISTRATIVE PRACTICES. Beware of the fees! IF I ever get my $80 back, I'll update my review. UPDATE: I have received a check for the $80.00. I have changed my review to 4 stars. Again, I loved the Caregivers and the folks behind them. But my feelings on how I was told that Dr Greg would absolutely not reimburse the $80 causes them to lose a star.

My mom needed to go to the ER. I had called the paramedics, but they explained that although her situation wasn't considered an "emergency," she still needed to see a doctor. My mom is non-mobile, nonverbal, and has dementia, so finding transportation was extremely difficult. I contacted her insurance, but unfortunately, they did not cover non-emergency transportation. Kaiser provided me with a few nonprofit organizations that assist seniors, but unfortunately, none of them were able to help. I started calling private transportation companies, but because it was a Sunday, no one was available. I was desperately searching for someone who could help us. I was completely overwhelmed, stressed, and honestly, I was about to cry from frustration. Then, thankfully, I found Rami Cohen through a private transportation company. Rami listened to my situation and referred me to Delia at Golden Heart. I called Delia and explained what I needed. Without hesitation, she was already on her way to meet me and my mom. She was truly a Godsend. Delia picked us up, took my mom to the ER, and then came back about 4 hours later to pick us up and take us safely home. My family and I are truly grateful to both Rami and Delia for helping us when we needed it most. Delia was kind, professional, compassionate, and genuinely caring about our situation. When the service the insurance uses to provide transportation failed to keep a scheduled pick up, claimed to send someone else, and again failing to do so. With time being 9am and appointment at 9:30 and no confirmed pick up time, I contacted Inspire Mobility. The rep I spoke to was a perfect example of great customer service that came from the heart not because he had to. My apologies for not writing down his name, however, we are grateful more than words can express to him. He dispatched a driver Noel, who was at our home within 10 minutes of the call. The Van was new, clean in and out, and the driver Noel was professional and caring. My mother in law is on dialysis and this appointment was extremely important. Missed appointment = Missed Surgery = Issues with Dialysis that her health depends on. Because of Inspire Mobility she made it to her appointment just a few minutes late which 30 minutes prior to we were stressed and worried not knowing if we would even make it there.
