The work was a two day process from cleaning out the existing insulation from the attic and adjusting the ductwork, to sanitizing and air sealing all the cracks inside and outside, and filling with R-49 insulation. From the entrance of the house to the attic access, they spent the time putting down a barrier to prevent any mess to the rest of the house. It was a smaller project and wasn't sure I could get someone to do it for a reasonable price. I also wanted batt insulation and most companies only provide blown-in for the attic. Brenden with ABC Insulation and Supply came out and discussed several options. I wanted to gauge how my research matched up with real world experience. He was patient and answered all my questions. Most importantly, he listened to why I wanted to insulate the garage and how I would be using it. We figured out what was best for my situation. Other insulation companies kept trying to move me towards their most common R-Value for garages and didn't take the time to listen. ABC scheduled and performed the work within my timeframe leaving the garage clean when they were done. The results were immediately noticed. From start to finish, very efficient and courteous. Good quality work. House was dramatically under insulated. After insulation my AC essentially never comes on, where prior it would run for nearly all day and still struggle to get temp cool. And the rooms that felt hotter then rest of home was now equal. I'm interested to see how winter feels but suspect will be the same regarding energy heater usage needs. Other companies told me I had to change my entire hvac system and get it re calibrated to get the other rooms equal temp; but the answer was just insulation. Massive savings. I never knew how much good insulation was actually sooo important and the massive longterm cost savings it provides. And better do it soon before it stresses your ac unit and need to replace a whole unit which costs crazy more money. Every summer my AC unit would break trying to get us cool. Sucked. Additionally, the system appears to be oversized for a home of this size. Installing a three-ton unit in a 972 sq ft space raises concerns about improper system sizing, which can lead to short cycling, poor airflow distribution, and uneven temperatures--exactly what we are experiencing. Communication has also been extremely frustrating. We have struggled to get clear answers or meaningful follow-up regarding these ongoing issues, despite raising concerns multiple times. We were recently informed that the project passed inspection, but passing inspection does not reflect real-world performance. A properly installed HVAC system should provide consistent comfort throughout the home, and that is not happening here.
