We had our property inspected by Russ with Better Home Inspection by Forster's and it was the biggest mistake we made. Soon we released the inspection contingency, we found out that there was an asbestos pipe connecting the water heater to the the roof vent!! It was so visible that you can't really miss it. I personally have never seen one before so I called in two GCs and an asbestos company and they all agreed that this was something the inspector should have pointed out in his inspection report so we can negotiate it with the sellers before we clear the inspection contingency. So I decided to call the company and see if they will take responsibility over failing to notify us of such a serious and major issue and they agreed to send someone to look at the problem. So next day Ray (grandfather) showed up 30 minutes late with the worst attitude you can get from a grumpy old man! He refused to admit that his inspector was responsible for not letting us know about the asbestos in the garage and he was trying to argue that it is OK to have it!!!!! The pipe was duck taped which clearly shows that someone have messed with it and it is extremely unsafe and he completely missed the point! He literally said "if we bring the asbestos up in the inspection we lose our business"!!!! So it is obvious that they just want people to buy homes and discover the issues later. After two minutes of trying to explain to him, he started "yelling" at me and getting disrespectful and he asked me to "SHUT my mouth" as I was trying to explain to him that this was not acceptable to miss such a big issue! Then he threatened to take me to court for asking them to credit me for the repair or give me a refund since it was THEIR FAULT that this was not discovered during the inspection period. Since then I tried to resolve the issue with Danny , the owner's grandson, we spoke few times over the phone and I clearly told him that I was quite offended with the way my concern was addressed by his grandfather and the disrespectful way he handled the situation. He apologized and promised to try and fix the problem and since I have already paid for a professional Asbestos company and they came and removed the pipe (So Cal Remediations), I requested that I get a full refund for the $500 I paid for this unprofessional and below average inspection service I received yet it has been 2 weeks since I complaint to Danny and yet nothing have happened yet. I will be updating my review as this whole thing unfold but in the meantime, please be aware of this company and don't get fouled by them. Home inspection was thorough and professional. Danny took the time to walk us through the inspection step-by-step, and also around the property in general to see the overall condition of common areas and parking garage (condo complex). There were a couple of minor/cosmetic maintenance items that I pointed out that were missed (couple door jams off center and sliding door handle not locking properly), but all major risk areas were covered to my satisfaction. We're not very happy with the inspection that we got. The inspector missed a major leak coming from the master bath even after I asked him specifically about this area during the inspection. Hilarious how stupid these people are. If you are a seller beware and please make sure you do not allow these morons around your home unsupervised. My house was left filthy from their grubby inspector and things were broken from their inspection. There was urine left on one of my toilets and all of the faucet handles were not centered as they had been left. The guy clearly was a slob and left my home nasty. Their reports refer you to "professionals" (which they clearly are not) instead of actually doing much of anything except pointing out stupid stuff. Having purchased a few homes I always laugh at people that are stupid enough to pay for home inspections instead of just checking the house out themselves.
