I was understanding as to the cancellations as we were having a hot summer and I am sure that they were busy with air conditioners... my concern was heat, so I was not in any rush. Yes, waiting once a week for months wasn't ideal, but I wanted the unit repaired. The technician finally arrived in the end of August. Nice guy and he diagnosed the issue without really doing a lot of troubleshooting (the main panel was bad as I suspected all along). They had me sign a contract that specifically says '...Buyer may cancel this transaction at any time prior to the midnight of the third business day after the date of this transaction.' Additionally, I was required to pay a $306 deposit for the repair. I called this morning to cancel as I had already (2 weeks earlier) rodered a mini-split system (I thought keeping the pellet stove would be a good Idea, but thinking it through, not for $1700. The person who answered the phone (a man) asked why I was canceling - I told him why. He then proceeded to tell me that they had already ordered the part. I told him to send it back. He then asked what they were supposed to do with the part. He then stated that my deposit was non-refundable. On the contract, it CLEARLY states 'If you cancel, any property traded in, any payments made by you under the contract ... will be returned within 10 business days. Up until today, all my contacts with this company had been cordial and professional. Once I went to cancel, I got bullied. I don't feel that the cost of replacing a small panel is worth $1700 and seems a bit predatory. I will be reporting this business.

He didn't have the right part but was able to put a "band aid" on the issue so we would have heat that night. He came back the next day, replaced the band aid with the correct sized part, cleaned our furnace, and advised us about other parts that might need replacing in the future so we could be prepared. I chose At Temp over some of the larger companies who quoted because the owner (Louie) seems knowledgeable, sincere, and fairly priced the work. He always remained in good communication with me through the process. When it came to the day to complete the work he had brought in 3 additional guys to assist with the job. They finished the work in a timely fashion, left my place reasonably clean, and were polite through the whole process. I took a look at the furnace, a 18 year plus old Armstrong, pulled out the blower assembly just out of curiosity. I could smell the motor was a little smoky and could smell that familiar smell. I flirted with maybe trying to change it out as there are so many YouTube Videos making it seem easy. However when I looked for getting the motor on my own it was days or weeks away and close to $400. I called a large HVAC company that quoted $850 total for a motor. And they could come in a day. I said go ahead. Not happy but did not want to gamble in the winter with a terrible shortage of parts. they called me back 10 minutes later to say they would need and extra $50 if I wanted the work done in less then a week!! This is a company I have used and they have 50 plus service trucks! Not a small shop. So $900 for an installed electric motor! I felt I was being taken advantage of. So I looked up an authorized Armstrong service contractors. I call AT Temp and so glad I did. Louie the proud owner actually picked up between jobs. Had me text him the model number and he verified inventory. Said he could do it that day by the end of the day. There was on two motors left so he picked it up earlier in the day! Game by at 4:00 on time and installed and checked it out for $625 total all in! Brand new out of the box and as promised. So glad I found him. He is the owner and actually the one doing the work. Very impressed with professionalism. I will recommend and use for us and others. I love to support small businesses when I can. Looking at the wiring I think "What was I thinking I would do it :-)"

Their price was fair and said it included everything , even the new thermostat. Before they could install everything, they put in a temporary motor so I would be cool over the hot weekend , Labor Day, etc until they could install the new units. Matt returned that Friday with owner, Brian, to install my new Trane furnace and Air Conditioning and Aprilaire Humidifier. It was not easy as Im on the second floor. They were very considerate, covered my carpeting and worked efficiently for many hours. Finally finished everything except a little more had to be done for the humidifier installation. It was already about 6:30 pm. Matt came back the next day and finished up, cleaned up everything before he left and said to call them if I had any questions or problems. Instead of a straightforward repair, I was pressured into an unnecessary $7,000 furnace replacement using scare tactics and zero real testing. Here's what happened: The technician quickly got my furnace running but immediately told me I had a carbon monoxide (CO2) leak without actually testing for CO2 levels. He used a snake cam to show me cracks inside the furnace and insisted I needed a full replacement right away. I was skeptical and went out to buy multiple CO2 detectors from Home Depot while he "went to the shop" for parts. My detectors showed 0 CO2 leaks anywhere in my home. When I told him I needed to discuss the purchase with my wife, he shut off my heat and said he couldn't leave it running due to "liability concerns." Instead of fixing the actual issue, he staged the system for me to bypass a safety limit switch and disconnected two wires from the control board, explaining how I'd have to reconnect them myself. This was completely unnecessary and a blatant safety risk. After shutting off my heat, he suddenly suggested a last-minute fix but refused to tell me what it was unless I paid $278 upfront. Desperate to get my heat working for my baby, I agreed to pay $300. Turns out, he just replaced a simple high limit switch, which was likely the problem all along. No need for a furnace replacement. I later had a trusted HVAC professional inspect my system, and they confirmed: My furnace is completely safe to use. The cracks inside do not automatically mean a CO2 leak. The original tech misled me with fear tactics instead of real testing. I reached out to Best Rates Heating & Cooling asking for a partial refund, but they ignored my messages. This was a clear attempt to scam me into an expensive furnace replacement I didn't need. Bottom Line: If you call this company, get a second opinion before agreeing to anything! I would never trust them again.
