Mike the the tech showed up, looked at the furnace and said he had to go to his van to get his tools to track down the problem. He was asked here to give me a bid on a NEW furnace NOT to fix the old one. I asked him at what point does the free estimate end and the charges begin. We talked a little more and I told him that I have 4 companies coming out to give me bids for the new furnace and he said "4 bids...you called 4 companies"? I said yes because I wanted to shop for the best price. He again said "4 bids?? Would you go to 4 different doctors to get their opinions too?" I said yes I would. He gave me a nasty look and I said thank you for coming. Goodbye. He left mumbling something and I am sure it wasn't nice what he was mumbling.

Then on the week of the install, Mike, Rhian, and Keenan were on time and stayed in communication with me throughout. They made sure everything fit and worked beautifully, walked me through everything afterward (including maintenance and answering my questions), and even cleaned up afterward-- extremely professional and helpful. Columbia Heating & Air Conditioning was the 3rd biz I called and scheduled a next day appointment. Diagnostic fee is $150. Mark was punctual and knowledgeable. He fixed my furnace/thermostat problem, he also explained everything in detail and made sure I understood. Friendly and informative. Not pushy with upsales which I greatly appreciated. Would definitely call them again if I ever need service for my furnace.

I was very happy to get my furnace working again by noon, it being January and still quite cold outside. The technician was friendly and identified the issue right away (broken ignitor). He had the part in his truck and fixed it. I had him do a tune-up too, since it had been a couple years. He did a great job and was happy to list everything he was doing (which seemed like more than other companies have done in the past). Will use again if necessary.

They try to get someone out for service as quickly as possible. Daniel came out yesterday to check our non-working thermostat. We have had him out before for the same problem and he was able to coax it back to life. But, time It has to be replaced. They gave us an estimate on a new one. We checked other services and their estimate was the most reasonable.

The guys also seemed very knowledgeable which gave us a boost of confidence about the work that would be done. The quote fit well within our budget. Shawn and his crew did a great job getting our furnace and AC up to code etc. They dealt with the difficult ductwork issues in our crawl space to improve airflow to colder parts of our home. Now the air flow is much better and we are very comfortable! My neighbor is now getting a heatpump and updating his furnace too through TCS. Tahoma Comfort Systems went beyond what any other installers would have done and we are happy.

I explained as clearly as I could what the other 2 had said before they gave up on it. So they would know going in, that this was going to be a difficult fix. They assured me they wouldnt give up, that they would keep on it until they fixed it. Well 2 stars not one because Keith gave it his best effort, but inevitably gave up. He stopped responding to my texts, and when I called the office to see what was going on, they said that the fan that was ordered to replace mine, was incorrect, and if I wanted them to still fix it, I'D HAVE TO FIND THE FAN. Well I emailed Goodman (the maker of my unit) and they refused to work with me because I'm a home owner not a company. Basically this company gave me the run around for 3 months. Now 7 months into trying to get this damn thing fixed, and the new company i had to come in after Tahoma says theres nothing wrong with the fan. Tahoma also charged for an hour of labor, and the cost to determine what was wrong with it. (And watch out! They'll charge for an hour of labor to order your part for you as well! They only refunded that after I complained that they never quoted that before charging me) However they could never tell me what was wrong with it, and it never got fixed. Keith was great though, well, until the company told him to stop replying to us. It's OK to admit you don't know how to fix something, just tell us before we're trapped in this oven of a house in the middle of summer.
