These guys are great. I went here to get my suspension done and to get an oil leak checked out. They fixed the leak and changed out the suspension. The car was running like new, but the oil pressure started being finicky soon after. I brought the car back to A+ Auto ASAP. They replaced the oil pump under warranty at a cost to them. I first went in for a checkup as part of a AAA deal that was going on, and I got documented feedback on both needed items and suggestions. I also got an estimate for valve cover gasket replacement and adjustment. I did some comparisons with a smaller shop in Poway and a second shop in Rancho Penasquitos. A+ did charge more, but the job was done superbly, I was taken to/from work/home. The job was supposed to take 1 day, and I received a phone call later that day indicating that it would not be ready until the next day, but they said they could book a rental for me, which was very impressive. You could find cheaper places, but if you want no worry about what will be done to your car, and you appreciate excellent work and customer service, A+ Autocare is the place to go. read more

Pretty simple. Driving around going from shop to shop, spending hours and hours is very tedious. If you're too lazy to give a good quote then its very likely you will not do a good job. I experienced bad customer service at the Poway, CA Discount Tire Shop. I went there to check my air pressure on my tires. They told me my tires are filled with the correct air. They said I need to purchase new tire pressure monitor sensors. They ordered five tire pressure gauges (for 4 wheels and one for my spare tire in the trunk). When the parts arrived, they called me, I made an appointment, and they installed them. After I drove off the Discount Tire Parking lot, the tire pressure warning symbol on my Lexus dashboard stayed on continuously indicating the tire pressure on my tires was not proper. I called and told them the tire pressure indicator light stayed on continuously and displayed on my dashboard. They said they would order a second set of tire pressure sensors for my Lexus ES350, which would take about a week to receive. When they arrived, the second set of tire pressure gauges were installed on my cars' tires. Again, the tire pressure warning symbol kept displaying on my dashboard. The tire pressure gauges did not "sync" with the Lexus computer both times as Discount Tire did not order the correct manufacturer sensors for my Lexus ES350. I went to my reliable mechanic, Dave, at A+ Autocare in Poway. They removed the incorrect gauges and installed the correct manufacturer tire pressure sensors. The tire pressure warning symbol then did not display on my dashboard. I chose to take my car to be serviced at A+ Autocare in Poway, as I trust Dave and his mechanics who have the knowledge, experience, expertise, and certification to diagnose vehicle problems and resolve them. I received excellent customer service from A+ Autocare. They took great care of my car, kept me informed throughout the whole process, as they installed the correct manufacturer's tire pressure sensors for my Lexus ES350 and provided overall excellent service. Had some serious alignment issues with my car. Recent rain created many potholes. Pot holes created a serious funk in my front steering. Called up two Costco tire service centers (Poway & Carmel Mt) asking for referral. They both suggested A+ Autocare. Two independent places referring to the same place, extra points in my book. Called in and the Al was courteous and knowledgeable. Didn't have an appointment. They were able to squeeze me in anyways. Work was performed the same day. Prices were reasonable. Added bonuses, 10% discount for Costco referral, free car wash with service, free shuttle service in the area, and AAA approved! Apparently only 2% of auto places make the AAA certification. I had a great experience with them. My car kept dying on me as I drove until finally it just gave up. I called them ahead of time to see if it was OK if I had my car towed to their place of service and whomever I spoke to was extremely nice and said it was fine and they would take a look at it. After an hour or so, they called back and explained what all what was wrong with my vehicle. I decided to go ahead with them because they were very professional and treated me like a customer should be treated. Although the price was a bit of a shocker, I know with what needed to be done, it was well worth it. And they worked with me too. Stay far away from these guys unless you want to get scammed! AAA had us take the car to A+ because of fuel pouring out of the bottom of the car. They diagnosed the problem as a bad fuel pump. Gave an estimate of almost $1200 to fix. Okay, we wanted a second opinion. Since we had AAA we could have it towed to another AAA shop at no extra charge. When learning that we wanted to take it to another shop, the guy in the office says wait, let me call Al first. All of a sudden, Al (who isn't even there) says wait, we made a mistake. It was the wrong part and it'll be about $300 less. That still brings the repair total to around $900. We proceed to tell Al that we are still taking it for a second opinion. So they load up the full exhaust And fuel tank in the car with no protection at all!!! No plastic or anything. The car leaves A+ and goes to another AAA shop in poway. Thank God we did! The problem was a cracked fuel sending unit! A $157 part! Not the $600 fuel pump A+ said it was. The total job was only $600! Not the 1200 or even 900 that A+ was trying to get when they found out the car was leaving their shop. Al lied about who loaded up the parts in the car and said it was the tow truck driver alone. I knew this was a lie because it took 3 guys at the new shop to unload it! When I called Al out on it we went back into the shop to get to the bottom of who loaded up the car. As it turns out at least one of their mechanics Dan helped load up this mess into the car! Al is flat out dishonest and untrustworthy. Then I called the mechanic out on the "bad fuel pump" that he kept insisting was the issue (wrong) and he got this evil look in his eyes, clenched his fists and said "I really wanna knock you out!" Really?! You want to fight me because you either lied about the repair or don't know what you're taking about? What a class act! They probably get away with this all day long with the majority of their customers but not this time! MAKE SURE YOU GET A SECOND OPINION! DON'T GET RIPPED OFF BY THIS SHOP! read more

For example, I've had more than one time where they have warrantied a part and not charged me for labor (we have an old car). If there are other things wrong with your car than what you take it in for they will tell you about them but they don't pressure you to have it done. A+ recently fixed some chewed up wiring on my Subaru Outback. A rat had gotten into the engine compartment and made a mess. They completed the work on a Friday but I was unable to get there in time to pick the car up so they kept it in the shop over the weekend. (We drove by several times and confirmed it was not parked outside). Picked the car up early Monday morning and drove home with no issues. When I got home I opened the hood to inspect and found that none of the mess was cleaned up. Wiring was fixed but there was still piles of insulation that had been made into a nest between the intake and top of the engine. It looked like a tinder bundle waiting to catch fire. After talking to both Dave and Andy I was assured that the technician had thoroughly cleaned up and had allegedly even had the rear of the engine power washed (no sign of this from my inspection, perhaps he intended to do all this cleanup but forgot?) I was also given the far fetched explanation that perhaps between the time the car was fixed on Friday, and when it was inside their shop, a rat returned and made a new mess before I picked it up Monday morning. Hmmmm. While I appreciate the car was fixed fast, I'm disappointed in the lack of attention to detail. read more

I have used A+ a few times now, and been very happy with the work they had done. A few days ago I took my truck in to get a few issues addressed, and was quoted around $500. They late called me and said that they had found a few maintenance issues. They did not requote and I did not ask the price but they were standard things and I figured around $800-1000 would be the new total. I also asked while they had my truck to look at an issue with my door where the lock indicator wouldn't move, but the door would still lock. A aesthetic annoyance, but not really an issue. They figured it out and ordered the parts. Again, no new estimate . It added a couple of days due to some mixups, but they got me a rental car so it was ok. To my shock, the bill was around $1500. The part and labor for the door that didn't really need fixing was $500! A lesson learned for me to always ask for new estimates and what things cost, but I feel that should have been explained as well. After protesting, the price was brought down to around $1350 but it is still a big price to pay for something that I never would have agreed to otherwise. Bottom line: good service, good work, very expensive. Ask for estimates throughout. read more

I've taken both my son's 2000 Camaro and my hubby's 2011 RAM 1500 here on several occasions. I've always felt a bit like I'd been "taken" when it came time to pay the bill. You know that feeling.....With my son's car they DOUBLE charged me for a $99 diagnostic when the car had just been transferred from a Transmission shop across the street where the diagnostic had already been done. That is a long story that left me uncomfortable and that car stranded on the side of the road during their test drive after repair. So two weeks ago my husbands 1500, that had been having start up issues, suddenly got worse and when we took it to Dodge they had a 2 week wait to see it. In a hurry, because it's a work truck, we took it to A+. My husband told them that he suspected it was the ignition system having the issue. BUT He never told them to replace the ignition itself along with chipped keys or to NOT do a diagnostic. They did not do a diagnostic and while trying to replace the ignition they called him at work over and over again telling him the truck would not start. When I called the shop, while they are calling my husband, Al told me "I'm not sure why the mechanic did not do a diagnostic" and Dave (the mechanic) tells me "the guys are mad because they need the bay and I can't start the truck". They apparently got it started and called me to pick up the truck. I paid the $893.28 bill and the truck would not start for me in their lot. Dave came out to the truck and turned the key part way then on and it started. He tells me that he thinks that is the fuel pump having an issue with some check valve. What?!?! Why do I have a brand new ignition but the same problem I had before we brought the truck to them? I brought the truck home and when my husband got home from work the truck would not start for 7 tries. I'm pretty upset so we take the truck back at closing Friday and I insist that they get us a rental truck since my husband had to work the next day. On Monday they apparently consult with Dodge and actually do a diagnostic. The problem (common problem) the entire time was a bad fuel pump relay in the TIPM. We get the truck back the next Tuesday and another bill for $456.47. I wait for the owner to call me for a week to discuss who's at fault for the misdiagnosis and he tells me that the mechanic insists that my husband "ordered" him to replace our ignition without diagnosing what is wrong with the truck. He also tells me that they don't do diagnosis on a lot of vehicles. WHAT!! You did/charged for two on my Camaro when it wasn't needed....oh maybe one was needed when it stalled on the road after repair. Jeez We have a lengthy argument (Andy being very rude and upsetting me more and more) on the phone where he accuses me of calling him a liar and calling him names and tells me my husband took full responsibility for the original diagnosis. Right, so a husband and wife have a week to discuss a situation that they agree could partially own their part in a communication breakdown with the shop but never would he have said it is 100% his fault. I did use a few choice words but never called him anything ever. I'm headed for small claims court and calling the BBB this week. Oh, and please tell Al not to call customers "sweetie" how condescending. Never going back. Trust destroyed. Edit: There is no confusion on my part and the "deal" you tried to make with my husband would only mean you get more money out of us for additional high cost repairs that you "discount". I'm not stupid. Weird how you cannot speak to a woman on an adult level and "need" to talk to the Man to get things "settled". Shows in several other reviews here. I see where you told the BBB that the cost of something from Dodge was higher there than Dodge quoted us. Jeez. Give me my money back or see you in court. read more

Now I can tell you, not only did Triple A recommend them to me, but I am delighted to recommend them to you. You won't be disappointed. I went in initially with a discount coupon for a full synthetic oil change and have been back several times now, including recently, to have a major service done on my car, including replacing the timing chain and components. As with many other companies they provided me with a loaner vehicle and they include an extended warranty, beyond what most places provide, for their major service. I'm very happy to recommend them to you. You can't beat their overall service, their mechanics, and also their customer service. I'm just an average consumer and they care, really. After calling several automotive places, I ended up going to A+ Autocare and was really pleased with their work and customer service. Dave took my initial call and then helped me when I arrived; super nice and professional. It took a few hours but in the end they confirmed it was the regulator that was broken on my power window and replaced that broken part. They also went ahead and resolved an unrelated 'brake lamp' message on my dash by replacing a 4.99 bulb. I totally appreciated that. Out of all the places I called, A+ Autocare could take care of the broken power window right away. A+ Autocare gave me an AAA discount, work guarantee for 2 yrs/24,000 miles and a car wash. I had called a number of the recommended places (by neighbors on Nextdoor) but they were booked until the end of the week and I wanted to get it fixed before anticipated rain hit! There are good mechanics up here but the service and quality of work at A+ makes it worth the trip, and their shuttle makes it possible for me. The simple truth is that I really trust them and am always impressed with their ethics. It is not very easy to make an appointment with them lately but if it is important I am going to make the wait.
