Absolutely phenomenal. My mom had the fish sandwich with a side of buffalo fries, and we also shared the buffalo chicken fries -- everything was really, really good. Huge shoutout to Lawrence, our waiter, and Eryn, our server -- both were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. Eryn never stopped checking on us, kept our waters filled, and had the best smile. Lawrence even made us a hot chocolate with whipped cream, which was hands down the best hot chocolate in town. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and this is one of the best places to stop in while visiting Nelson. Noon to 12:30 is a perfect time to go -- it does get busy during the lunch rush, but it is 100% worth the wait. There are lots of great menu options, and we will definitely be back. At some point a server came to either drop something off or pick something up, but without asking started to empty the wine into our glasses. This is bad etiquette for a server to touch anything on the table without asking. The third course was the main, I opted to upgrade the steak to a filet and add peppercorn sauce. When the main came out I tried the steak and it was way to salty, and I like salt. So, decision time, do I say something and disrupt our whole experience or suck it up. I decided to suck it up for the sake of the evening. My partners food was mostly fine. She had the lamb shank. The veg for both meals was the same. Some oven roasted root veg plus some sqash and zucchini. The root veg was raw, so we did say something about that. The waitress was very helpful and brought out more veg ten mins after we were finished the main. The same problem persisted, though, uncooked root veg. We shared a tarmisu for dessert. The experience was disappointing because we held this restaurant in a high regard. There reputation will be downgraded, in my eyes, to cause me to think twice befor recommending Louie's Steakhouse for food.
