I had to pay upon ordering, cringed but left a tip as how do I know it will be great, right?! Paid with Visa and made it right to the place at the 15 min mark. It was ready to go. Killed me not to get fries but trying to be Spring-body ready! Haha! Just a hamburger, no cheese, loaded with veg and only hot sauce as a condiment. Love their raw onion. I tried on line as I was between appointments and inside the resto takes time to make. This just worked out and I'm so tempted to order another one. ;) I live too close to here!

The texture was the same throughout and I might even venture to say that the fries are actually far below average. I got the Cajun fries so I might want to try the regular ones before I write of their fries forever. Service was great - very quick and everyone was really nice. There is one thing that will bring me back here- it's the peanuts! These peanuts that are given away for FREE in an all-you-can-eat format were actually some of the best peanuts I've had! Next time I come, I am going to see if they have onion rings. For a place that specializes in just two things, they got to get their fries right.

Maybe a 3.5 star if only I could give half-stars. For the overall experience. We have had Papa…read moreSam's before, but it's been a while, and we are now comparing current pizza competition in the 'hood, for price, quality, service, and to see how well they stand behind their advertising. That last point for this experience really bites! Down one full star for this experience!! We were drawn to Papa's because of local advertising, so I called. At the end of placing my order, the man who answered said, "in Kanata"... nope! We completely blanked on that - I didn't even notice the ad specifically stated Kanata, when we wanted the Stittsville location. I hadn't fully realized they had 2 locations until then! The bad experience was with the Stittsville location; they charged about $5 more for the same pizza, saying "all the prices have gone up!" Yay for you, not so much for me!! But for now, supporting local, you got me once. So this pizza was $31, taxes in. Almost double the Milano's special!! Yikes! On the upside, they did allow me to change one item at no extra (I don't like green peppers), and they threw in 2 cans of pop at no charge. Great! As for the pizza itself, we got what papa's calls XL, but to us this is the same size as Large at Milano's, so it's bigger than Domino's, and also had more of everything on it than Domino's. Papa's considers chicken to be a premium topping, so they charge more for it (we didn't get it today). I might add that Chicken is included at Milano's. So how good was the pizza? The bottom line it was ok, but not stellar. I've been looking for pizza crust that is light and airy and full of bubble-pockets, instead of too thick. That's not what we got here. However, it wasn't too thin or too thick. The pizza was covered with ingredients (waaay better than Domino's!) On the downside, I didn't love the pepperoni on it; I like it more like salami that's not too hard and chewy. This is sort of like bologna... and just about as exciting :-( Lastly, the service: ummm... leaves a bit to be desired. First of all, they don't respect advertised specials at both locations, which is really unfortunate. That will affect future purchases at Papa's either location. Secondly, the Stittsville location is in like an old house, and the sidewalks are not well shovelled. I walked past an open door that wasn't the entrance, to hear loud (Lebanese?) music blaring!! When I did get in to pick up my pie, the music was gratefully turned down, and the pie was ready. However, the fellow serving started in on the personal questions: "Do you know what your name means? Heaven!" And "I love your hair!" Geez, I love the compliments, but did not expect them!!

THAT is pepperoni?? Not my favourite. The pizza has been inconsistent here over the years. Maybe the ice cream is better?

Not all Royal Oaks are equal, some are certainly better than others. Overall, I would say this one was better than some. We were meeting later in the evening, so my husband and I already had dinner, so we just shared the Haddock Dippers ($9) and Sweet Potato Fries ($9). I also got a Strawberry Dream ($6.50) and my husband got a few Guinesses ($9.55 each). The Haddock Dippers came 4 per order. They were fairly small and more batter than fish, but the batter was crispy and they didn't taste like Captain Highliners at least. The fish came with tartar sauce. The sweet potato fries were thin and lightly battered. I enjoyed them, but just found the quantity lacking. The portion was really small, especially for $9. They came with a chipotle mayo dipping sauce. The Strawberry Dream was like a virgin strawberry daiquiri. It was good, but way too sweet for me, no surprise though, as I find most drinks way too sweet, lol. Service was alright. The patio was a good size. I like that we weren't close to other occupied tables. They have a table with a firepit in the middle, which I thought was cool. There were lots of mosquitoes out through, so be sure to put on bug repellent if you're out there in the evening. It's a chain pub and definitely meets the standards of such. Even in today's economy though, I found the portion sizes small. Lots of free parking in their private lot.

I actually think I've had it once before, but that would've been 15ish years ago so I think enough time has passed haha I also had it topped with shrimp, which I don't think the Works even has anymore as an ingredient. I chose a sesame multi-grain and upgraded to a Kobe-style wagyu beef patty, bun and sweet potato fries with a side of Beechhouse sauce. As you can imagine, this order was quite expensive, since the Works burgers are already pretty pricey. The sweet potato fries were worth the upgrade, in my opinion, especially with the extra Beechhouse sauce for dipping. They were crispy, not too greasy or salty, and there were plenty. I always love their unique Beechhouse sauce and it's perfect with the sweet potato fries instead of mayo or ketchup. I know it has carrots in it because you can see the small shreds, but it's not like a carrot dip (ha!); I just find it really flavourful. The burger was good, but I wish I had just ordered the standard Canadian beef patty. My husband ordered it and his was less done than mine, which I liked better. My patty was smaller and more cooked, which made it drier and bit less flavourful, in my opinion. The Beechhouse sauce and avocado helped the dryness of the patty, and the crumbled feta added that bit of salty flavour. The tartness of the few sun-dried tomatoes brightened it up a bit and wasn't overpowering. I also got a Caesar that was the daily special and it was good. The food was made and presented well and service was friendly. I'm sure we'll be back here if we're craving the Works in the future.
