I had been taking my car around to a few different shops in the area, and wasn't really having any luck, so I was pretty exhausted by trying to explain everything, but right away, they were just like "we'll just do a full inspection of everything!" I wasn't fully confident that they'd catch much (as other shops had not been able to catch anything going on). I took the car in right as they closed on a Wednesday, and by like 10am the next morning, I was sent a link to TekMetric - an app they use to document their entire process, including photos, diagnoses, and individual notes from the tech. The total on the repairs was MUCH higher than I anticipated, and I was a bit freaked out, but when I called them, I spoke with the person who inspected my car, and we went through each item individually over the phone, and discussed what was immediate safety concerns, things I SHOULD do but could get away with, and things that are more preventative measures that will need to be addressed down the line. They were very upfront with me about the timeline, which was a very quick turnaround. I've seriously have never been so impressed with a shop before. Their labor cost per hour was a little bit higher than what I saw from other local shops, but honestly, for this level of service, and how confident I was moving forward with the work, it was worth it.

I provided them with the information requested and was sent a text with the estimate. I then asked about the Costco 15% voucher and a time to bring the car in for repair. Their responds was I needed to bring the car in to the shop for a physical inspection to provide an accurate estimate. I brought the car to you on Friday May 14, 2026 asking for the estimate on the trailing arms and inquired about the dash board lights. They asked for 2 hours of time to prepare this. I received the estimate for the repairs along with an inspection report and quotes for 17 other "issues", I did not request an inspection of any kind. When I return to retrieve the car and finalize the repairs I ask a couple of question, first will they honor the Costco voucher and timing to have the repairs completed. Here are my challenges with the transaction, I had temporary access to these estimates and was locked out once I paid the fee of $81.00 ($77.,25 actual debit transition), your website states a free estimate but you charged me and then restricted my access. The garage has a deal with Costco to take 15% off the total bill but when asked I was told you would take 10% on part and 15% on labor. The texted estimate was $1610.00 prior to me asking about the Costco discount and the realtime estimate was $1750 as I recalling only being able to view it prior to lockout. Most concerning was your raid silent when I called to follow up on Saturday as requested by you, I called around 8:30 AM , followed up with a text at around 11 AM and another at 2:15 PM and as on this email there has been no response. The work has been completed by another garage and its is worth pointing out in this review it was completed at a cost of 1/2 what Logan Square Garage was going to charge me. I then spent money on a crankshaft issue. That didn't fix it either. My vehicle has since STOPPED DEAD ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FIVE TIMES. I am disputing all applicable Pep Boys charges. It is my position that products sold to me were outside the manufacturer's date and/or ineffective for their represented purpose. I am preserving documentation of these transactions. And somehow, Pierre, their Area Manager, made this nightmare even worse. By the time my issue reached Pierre, I had spent money repeatedly and been left stranded. Instead of resolving it, PIERRE HUNG UP ON ME THREE SEPARATE TIMES. Pierre has been extraordinarily arrogant, dismissive and condescending. I cannot understand how someone who treats customers this way is an Area Manager. An Area Manager should resolve problems. Pierre became another one. I want Pep Boys corporate leadership to review Pierre's handling of this complaint and, if these calls were recorded, LISTEN TO THEM. Explain why an Area Manager hanging up three times on a paying customer who has repeatedly been stranded is acceptable. After three weeks, I'm left with two ineffective batteries, a crankshaft-related expense that solved nothing, FIVE roadside breakdowns, disputed charges, and an Area Manager who hung up on me THREE TIMES.
