What should have been said when we called: The hours online is for our mobile services but we close our store in less than five minutes! Here's what really happened: Figure out your hours! Google says 6am-11pm, door says 9am-6pm m-f, and your answering machine says 8am-6pm. Google says this business is open 6am-11pm so we called and asked about if they could copy our keys at about 5:55pm. They didn't mention that they were closing in a couple minutes so we drove here, parked right in front of the door, and watched them lock the doors right in front of our faces. They got in their cars and drove off. We are not going to come back because this was very unprofessional. Why not tell us your store hours? There was no reason to lead us all the way over here for us to get here right at 6pm and do this. The 6am-11pm is only for mobile services. read more

Wow where to start? I don't often leave reviews for companies, but A-1 was a must. If you want the short and sweet version....just shop here for your safe needs. Period. The long version: I looked around all of DFW including online sites for a new safe. My key points I was looking for: - Inventory & Availability - Brand Selection - Delivery Options - Customer Service - Cost Not knowing a thing about A1 prior, I stumbled on to them via a simple google search. They appeared to have several locations in DFW so I called one closest to me and started some dialog. My sales Rep was Dane W. out of the Plano/Parker location. A brief 10 min conversation and we were video conferencing within a few minutes (without having to drive in). He quickly lined up the inventory that suited my needs and gave me a buffet of information about each to consider. The process of deciding which safe I wanted to buy took me a good 2-3 weeks. At NO time during any of this was there ever any sales pressure or hustle. Simple customer service and and a company that knows how to consult with clients. Notice, I say consult. Dane wasn't selling me anything. He was literally serving as my personal VIP Safe Consultant and lined everything up for me so that I could make an easy decision. This type of service was not something I expected in this industry. I made the decision to pickup my safe from the warehouse after purchasing it on the showroom floor (which took no time at all for it to be ready). The guys at the warehouse were all top notch. I spent a good 30 minutes chatting it up with them as well. I found out A1 is a family owned business. That made my day even more as I love supporting smaller companies with a customer focus. They all came out and helped me load and tie everything down. The experience was A+ end to end. The best compliment I could give them, was that I was so impressed with the service, I didn't even bother to price shop. Whether it was a low or a high price, I'll never know...nor do I care. They did an excellent job but they charged us more than what they quoted. We had a dead bolt put on our back door. They quoted a price of $195. But they charged us $295. They charged us $85 for the dead bolt and $200 for the trip charge. It was suppose to be only $100 for the trip charge. They would not refund us the difference. read more

A real local locksmith that gets the job done. We needed a car key after the dealership's replacement did not work. The guy on the phone told me how to remove the lock from the door. I brought it in and they made two keys that works for basically about the same price that the dealership charged. Does not have urgent service for a lock that their locksmith messed up. Had our business rekeyed and it took over 45 mins due to the tech stating it had a "new mechanism" in the lock yet that lock hadn't been changed in over 5 years. The deadbolt completely stopped working, stuck in a locked position and just because it's a couple days past 30 days, they will not fix it to keep our business (multiple locations) nor send a tech out in less than 2 hours. We moved our business to AJ Locksmith who has much better reviews and sent a tech out immediately. read more

Great service and great price! My key broke in my ignition, and I tried everything to get it out. Luckily, I could still start it to drive to A-1. He got it out within 5-10 minutes. It wasn't easy, but he continued to try until he got it! Then, they made me a new key, and threw in a spare with no charge. $85 total for the labor and new key. Usually, it can cost 2-3 times that price to get a stuck key out, and replace a car key that has a chip in it like mine does. I'll definitely be back! read more

Today I had a small problem with a door lock. I removed it to have a duplicate key made, which worked but I could not assemble it back to working order. Looking up two Allen "local" locksmiths ... I found that BOTH were phone service for mobile service, no store front! So I went into the Plano A1 store on Parker Rd. Technician Jamey Mathers was EXCELLENT in working on the old lock and getting it to work even being a little worn. And the new key works as well. Do not use them! We spent over 300 dollars changing o it locks and doorknobs and within five months a doorknob fell off due to bad installation. I called to have them come fix it and it would cost me 165 to reinstall it. Unreasonable amount of money for a bad installation in the first place. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!! read more

A-1 was able to program a smart key to my 2011 ford. When we bought our car, the used car dealership only had one smart key to the vehicle. I bought a smart key off of eBay not knowing it required someone with the proper equipment to program it. The ford dealership quoted $268 dollars for a key. A-1 was able to program our key we bought from eBay for only $50. I was impressed at how simple it was. Ford told it would take nearly 2hrs to complete. A-1 proved this was not the case. read more

Recently I had an issue with a new glove box lock for an old Chevy truck. One of the A-1 guys spent time on the phone with me (two separate calls) explaining the different types of key "blanks" and lock cylinders that GM used in the 70s and 80s. Turns out the new glove box lock couldn't be re-keyed to work with the truck's door key. Even the vendor who sold me the latch & lock didn't know that. Thanks for teaching me something guys! I just called tonight around 7:30 pm on SEP 06, 2014 and wanted service for my vehicle and the girl that answered had the most ridiculous ,unpleasant attitude that I've ever encountered . Right away she was very condescending FOR NO APPARENT REASON . I'm a first time caller and normally ( you'd get the welcoming greet ) instead I felt as If I bothered her when I called . anyways , I decided to take it with the grain of salt and proceed with the service I wanted ( I needed a key made for my vehicle ) SO she says okay got it and hung up on me . I then called back and said you can cancel my order because I'm not going to give service to a company who doesn't care about their customers ,and she proceeds to argue back with me ( so I got a little out of my character ) and we yelled at each-other . I don't normally complain unless it's a big issue and HER ARROGANCE will bring her and the company DOWN !!! I guess the folks out here ignore the ignorance but I have a VOICE and I will say what's on my mind . Energy is contagious that's why so many business are Failing today because they do not know how to talk to customers. I will never use this company again. A service has been set up a month earlier, but still not finished. Every time there would be something wrong. Technician did not show up, or get a mismatch color of handle set. The service got delayed and rescheduled again and again. When I complain it to sales manager, he yelled at me on the phone. They charge way too much, for laser cutting a Honda key. The Honda dealership charged me $14.95 total to laser cut my after market Honda key. A-1 gave me a quote of $40 dollars just to cut the key. I hope this helps people who do not know, and over pay. read more
