These guys ALWAYS get 'em right! They have been there for YEARS! Word of mouth gets around, and they are the absolute best key shop in town!

Best place to make the key any luck they have a key good job five star recommendation good service

I've been coming here for years. Excellent service and they have keys that are super hard to find. Best key shop in the city IMO

Best place in town for key duplication. They do it all! Quick in and out and reasonably priced.

I stopped by yesterday to get a set of spare house keys made. There were a few people standing around outside (you can't go in the building), waiting for their keys. I gave the nice college-age kid working inside my keys and he returned about two minutes later with a pair of shiny, new keys. The total cost was $3.28. When I handed him $4, he passed a dollar back to me and said that he could come up with the $.28. There was a steady stream of people walking up to the window to get keys made, including one heavily tattooed man in jeans, a t-shirt with cut off sleeves and a Santa hat. Hey, everyone needs keys. read more

Don't let the small metal building fool you - these guys have decades of lock and key knowledge. I drive past many other key and lock shops to have my work done by these men...and have for many many years! read more

Great Business with caring staff. I liked the fact that they showed great concern for my woman of God whom had recently been Car Jacked. Thank you Gentlemen! read more

Stopped by at 930am on a Wednesday. Gentleman inside was working but stopped when I walked up. I had two old keys that HD wasn't able to copy. He made the copies and had them to me in 3 mins. Very reasonable price and friendly service. read more

In town of work and had a last minute need for keys to be cut. looked up 'locksmith' on yelp and came across this location. not going to lie the pictures of a small shed on the side of the road were a little sketch but the reviews seemed good, so why not! i showed up to the location and walked to the window to let them know what i needed, unfortunately i needed a large quantity of a key they did not have available at that very second. i was told the boss man could bring more of those specific keys but they didn't know when. i was told to leave my key and they'd call me when ready or if they couldn't complete what i needed. i was given a business card with the bosses number and i joking told them i'll just call the boss in an hour and remind him about the keys. well i did just that! steve answered the phone and i gave him the back story, he knew exactly what i was talking about and let me know he was currently finishing a job but he'd get the keys to 'the shed' (my words not his) soon. i gave it almost another hour and called again! he already knew it was me and updated me that he'd be at 'the shed' in 15 mins and then it would probably take about another 15 mins to cut all the keys i needed. i received a call that my order was ready and i went and picked up. all the guys were great and easy to talk to. (feel bad for not catching their names). i didn't mind the little hiccup in not having what was needed, but i appreciated the communication. read more

I have been using A-1 Key Shop for years. They consistently give excellent customer service. They have made me keys for many things, including: vintage motorcycles ignition switches that I had no original key, padlocks that had lost keys, and duplicate standard house keys. The keys they cut typically work the first time! They have a vast inventory of key blanks. These guys know what they are doing! read more

Great help, very knowledgeable and very reasonable price. I had been to Home Depot, Walmart my and Lowe's and neither of them were able to cut my key. A-1 Key did and I was so thankful! They're my go to from here on out ! read more

Steve has done work on both my home and business. He arrives when he says he will, completes the work professionally, and most important, the keys ALWAYS work! Nothing more frustrating than getting a duplicate made at some of the big box retailers and then learning it doesn't work. Never had that problem with A-1. As several other reviewers have mentioned, if they can't do it, they are happy to refer to someone who can. A-1 is the type of local small business that you can feel good about supporting, and the work is top quality! read more

Give you their personal number for contact but not responsive when it comes to sticking with an appointment

Very nice guys that work there, I was able to get 2 totally different keys copied in about 5 minutes. Very affordable, but I almost missed the place driving down Poplar. It's right across from Huey's, directly in front of the railroad tracks. There's also a car wash practically in the same lot so be careful with the traffic. read more

I work for a real estate team. Any time we're in the area, we go to A-1 for duplicate keys. We never have a problem with their keys. The same can not be said for other key shops. So when it came time for the locks to be changed at my home, of course I called them. Prices were good and service was excellent. Steven, the owner, stayed well past 5:00 and never mentioned how late it was getting, nor did he rush the job. In fact, he apologized (unnecessarily) for the delay. I will continue to get keys made through their shop and will recommend A-1 to anyone with locksmithing needs. Great people. read more

A-1 Key Shop - This is Steven, owner/operator for A-1 Keys. Great guy. - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

Super fast and cheap! $4 to have a key duplicated twice. It's just a small shack so don't miss it!

It's a really neat little shack with a friendly efficient guy working there who copies your keys for cheap.

I don't need to have keys made that often...maybe once every 5 years? But I drive by here all the time and was curious about this little shack on the side of the road. I brought cash but it turns out they do take credit cards (I believe just Visa and Mastercard). I had 2 keys that needed 2 copies each. It took 5 minutes and was under $10! Super convenient - in-and-out and super cheap! read more

My house key is old school and not a lot of places carry this type of key, but that's why I come to A-1 Key Shop. The costumer service is great and helpful. I am in and out in less then 5 minutes. Plus it's really cheap, what else could I ask for. read more

Yelp to the rescue again. Awesome service. Small shack of a building. Almost missed it.

Steve Smith is the master locksmith there.I had a difficult fix and he was a master in helping me.I had a very old Marks deadbolt type lock and needed new pins.Actually I needed the whole cylinder. He happened to have an old one around and swapped out the pins and re-keyed the other one to match with finesse on the depth of the key.Although the building doesn't look that great Steve has the knowledge of a master with over 32 years of experience. An occasional train is noisy as the building is right next to the Southern Railroad track.Hope they keep the track up there to avoid a derailment. The price was very competitive and Steve stands behind his work.I give Steve 5 stars. read more

How did I not know about this place!? I pulled up, handed him my key, and was out of there within 2 minutes. Talk about convenience. This will be my new go to place whenever I need a key made! read more

BEST key shop in Memphis. I've never had a key made here that wasn't at least as good as the original, if not better. Don't waste your time or money anywhere else. read more

Thousands of Memphis real estate agents use no one but A-! to duplicate their keys. Steve's father started the business. He was an engineer by training and Steve graduated from law school. Not your ordinary locksmiths. They are very good and their expertise goes far beyond cutting keys. If you need something they are not equipped to do they cheerfully recommend the best competitor for the job. And their keys always - always work. read more
