Get honest employees to work for you or change how you do commission if that's how you run it. Be honest about what is needed for a safe chimney. You wanted to charge us $10,000 to do work to repair supposed "cracks" that didn't exist when we got a second opinion. Red flag for me came up when your inspection and work from July 2024 contradicted what you said June 2025. I have proof you inspected my chimney with a camera in 2024 and approved it. There is no way $10,000 worth of damage happened in less than one year. They like to up-sale repairs for fake faulty mortar joints and overcharge for things. The picture they showed me wasn't a mortar joint. I now have better pictures of my actual mortar joints. And now I have a second opinion to back that up. I called 6 days prior to leaving this message to request a quote to have a wood burning stove installed. I was told it would be $99 which would be applied to my bill should I decide to move forward with them after the quote. They said they would provide the quote to me on a Sunday but that day came and went so I called the Little Rock location to verify the time I would receive the inspection. A woman said it would be $200 just to come out and I laughed at her over the phone. When I called back to inquire about the quote I was told that I was out of their service area so I asked why no one notified me of that information and was met with silence. Conflicting stories and prices helped me to determine I would not be moving forward with them for the install of my wood burning stove. Zero stars. I built my house - the roof had no holes in it - then they came and installed my wood stove. My roof leaks non-stop, the roof is getting mold and my stove is rusting. I've called them out here three times after that and each time they failed to fix the the leak. I called them a fourth time and they assured me that a manager would be in touch with me, but I never heard back from them. Worst decision I ever made. I should have just done it myself. We got a fireplace insert from them and they were very good about explaining everything we would need and what to expect, they came on time and truly cared about the job they did! They showed great attention to all details and the installation was perfect. We called A-1 Chimney Pro to get an estimate on some work we wanted done on our chimney. We had to wait a couple of weeks to get a person out to get an estimate. Finally on Feb 17 we had a guy from this company out and we accepted the estimate and we were required to give him 50% of the estimate that day so we could get a crew scheduled to do the work. They claimed they were to busy to get started on our job until March 9, so now we are already past a month from the first call to this company. They called March 6 to cancel for the 9th. They said it was necessary because of the weather although some of the work to be done was inside. They then said it would be March 23rd before they could schedule the job. I find this customer service unacceptable and understandably by this time we'd lost all confidence and trust in this company. When I spoke to them about this not only did they talk condescendingly to me about the fact of how long we had waited, they wanted me to listen as they praised themselves & bragged about how much they were growing and they'd even purchased two new trucks, What I learned was how all this 'growth' is surely done on the backs of hard working people. People like us who then have to wait lengthy time periods to get a job done. We decided we didn't want to keep waiting longer for them to honor their part of our agreement so requested a refund minus the cost of the estimate, but then were told we would be required to pay another $275 dollars for a pan because they'd already ordered it. We aren't allowed to charge for any inconvenience and disrespect we got from this company but they will make sure they get every penny they can from you. I have been incredibly disappointed with A-1 this year. First, I called in August for my inspection. I was scheduled for October. Fine, that's just in time for fireplace season. Then the guy says something is broken (after it worked perfectly all last year). Fine, we don't want to burn down our house or get gas poisoning. The guy says he'll call the next day with an estimate. He doesn't. After THREE weeks of hounding these folks to GIVE them business, they finally sent another guy out because the first didn't get the information they needed. They are now telling me it will be another SIX weeks before they can come out and fix my fireplace. For a place with multiple locations and many technicians I am appalled at their customer service and general work ethic. At this point I feel like I'm throwing good money after bad and never want to do business with them again. Looking forward to trying Ye Ol Chimney next year! read more
