They did a so-so painting job on my motorcycle panniers and it required a return to make things right. When I picked them up it was apparent that the paint wasn't wet-sanded and polished completely with lots of dust particles trapped in the wet paint or overcoat. They said they'd finish it up if I let it dry a couple of weeks and they looked much better after they polished it up. I want to give these guys a good review, I really do, because they turned around the panniers in one day. But I gladly would have waited until the job was done right the first time. read more

They had my car for so long that my insurance no longer covered my rental, meaning I'm now $1000 farther into this. Got to the shop to retumy car just to find out they only take cash or venmo. I wish I could give 0 stars. If you want to drive your car ever again, DO NOT USE THIS SHOP! Long story short, I was in an accident where I hit on all four panels. They took well over two months to repair the vehicle. Each and every time we called for an update, we got a different person on the phone and they were never honest about the finish time. Even an estimate of time would have been helpful. One day my fiancé happened to be in the area so he swung by and was told a few days prior that it was going to paint. When my fiancé showed up, the car was in pieces, unpainted and no one was working on it. Then when I had finally had enough of dealing with A-1, I contacted my insurance company. My agent called the shop owner with me on the phone and he lied through his teeth and started yelling at the poor woman. And the kicker? It wasn't even the shop owner on the phone. The man on the phone pretended to be him but really it was just one of his employees! My fiancé is a mechanic and when we got the car back finally he looked it over and genuinely insisted I didn't drive it. That is how bad the body work was. I wish I could say I had a picture of the finished result but I had to trade the car in. I also got basically nothing for my trade because of the poor workmanship. Yes, it took a long time as it's a small shop. Yes, I would have liked more proactive communication. But, goddamn do they do amazing work! My priority was the final result, not how or when it was done. My 2013 Hemi Orange Challenger needed to have one rear quarter replaced. The quarter on this car includes the frame around the door and also has a decal. The panel that was replaced is indistinguishable from the rest of the car and the decal is perfectly placed. They also polished out some unrelated scratches on the car and when I picked it up it looked like it had just come off the showroom floor. I would definitely recommend A-1 and use them in the future! read more

They are accepting business on the old owners reputation and now they are ruining cars. They don,t know how to fix cars properly and the complaints are starting to accumulate. It won,t be long before they are out of business due to negligence and auto repair fraud. BEWARE of the lies you will get from A1 collision, take your car here and it will never be the same, for the worse. Watch out for a guy named "yaw"; he is a pathological liar, he will try to use every excuse he can think of to put blame on everything but where it belongs, on him. I used A-1 Auto Body for some recent car work and I'm glad that I did. The work they did was flawless. They went above and beyond their responsibilities to make me happy as a customer. They are a very busy shop, so time estimates may be somewhat off - but the owner, Craig, was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive to detail. I was not sure who to use when choosing an Auto Body repair shop as I have not been in enough car accidents to have a "regular" place. By choosing A-1 on a whim, I was nervous. I brought my car to A1 for some front end and rear end damage I got from 2 accidents. They were very respectful and helped me whenever I had any questions. My car was in shambles, smashed windshield and everything and they made it look brand new! It took kind of a while to get all the work done but for the quality of work they do it is worth the wait. Excellent work at a great price! I had backed out of the garage with a car door open and did a job on that door. They were able to repair and paint only the door, and match the color without doing the additional work of blending the side of the car. This saved me a lot of money. I had my car here for 10 days. The owner seemed great in the beginning, but gave me the runaround when it came time to pick up my car. he promised Tues morning, then when I called he said Tues afternoon, then it went to Wed, then Thurs morning then he said he wasnt sure if it would be ready on thurs afternoon. I asked why, and he kept saying he needed to get pictures taken. For THREE DAYS??? After several phone calls, I said I needed the car and would be picking it up Thurs afternoon. He was irritated, but said "FINE." I called 1/2 hr before I arrived and he said he had to get the PICTURES taken. I showed up at 3:50pm. He had NOT gotten the pics taken YET and LEFT with the car to go get it done. He came bak an hour and a half later with the car. I finally got in to leave and he said "by the way, we sprayed over your windshield washer jets." WHAT??? He said "come back in the morning and I will replace them. I went in on Fri morning, (as instructed) and he told me he did not have the part. He would CALL ME! I reported him to my insurance company and will be writing several bad reveiws so other will know of his lousy service, and workmanship. Terrible experience. read more

I used this shop to fix two of my cars and I was extremely impressed with the quality of work and the service. Craig was super nice, very honest, open and fair with me. Both cars were fixed within 2-3 days, which was surprisingly fast. The service was great. They washed and cleaned the inside of the cars and also touched up a few other areas that weren't part of the repair. Craig even offered to pick me up if I couldn't find a ride to the shop. No conecpt of what not having your car means. They have had my car for 4 weeks for a bumper and a trunk issue. They keep telling me to call 4 or 5 days later to see if the car is done. They even promised my insurance company that it would be done on a specific date and it wasnt. They do things their own way and have horrible customer service skills. I went to A-1 after my car got hit. While the work was slower than estimated (almost 2 weeks instead of 3 days), Craig did call me to explain that he needed a supplement from the insurance company and apologized for the extra time. I am so impressed with the work. It looks perfect and he even took care of a dent that wasn't related to the accident because he thought it wouldn't look right. I also asked if he could find a replacement side mirror (not related to the accident) and he went above and beyond to find one (actually getting stuck with two wrong ones before receiving the right one). I had an identical positive experience as the other reviewer. The owner Craig is very much customer-service oriented. He patiently explained the process, and went out of his way to help contact the car rental agency I used while waiting for my repair. The repair was finished ahead of schedule, and the work was jaw-dropping excellent! The dent removal and paint matching were so expertly done that the only way you'd believe there had been a collision is if I showed you the receipt. If you value your money, sanity and vehicle STAY AWAY!! I dropped my car off on July 2, 2018 to supposedly get worked on. A1 promised me my car would be done by the end of the week. They did nothing for 8 days while my car sat there (unknowingly by me, racking up STORAGE charges) and rental car charges . ( They are in bed with Enterprise across the street) Then on Monday July 9th, 2018 I called them and my insurance company to see what the heck was going on. On Tuesday A1 supposedly finally contacted my insurance company to get the car reevaluated .(A1 which by the way was listed as a preferred shop of MAPFRE / COMMERCE insurance and they ARE NOT ). So after 8 days of my car sitting as it was when I dropped it off, (Tuesday the 10th) my insurance company decides my car is totaled. A1 decided that my initial estimate from my insurance was LOW so he doubled the repair cost. Then he charges the insurance company almost $2,600.00 dollars for "storage" of my car. I drove my car in and should have driven my car FAR AWAY from there. Instead he takes my car apart on Wednesday morning July 9th 2018, so I couldn't drive it away. Then he either gets the car or the insurance has to pay to get it back..... SCAM ! !!! I had to fight with my insurance to pay the fee. It was because of them that I went there. It took days of course to get anywhere. Finally after commerce payed for their ridiculous storage fees I was able to pay to get my car towed away to another shop. Who by the way fixed my car in a day and a half for the price I was originally told by the insurance company. Oh and meanwhile people are writing all these great reviews during the time my car is just sitting there!!!! I had to pay for rental and tow out of there. It cost me $599.00 for 3 weeks of car rental. All of this could have been avoided! My car finally is fixed 3 weeks later. Then as I'm dropping of my rental there he is again sucking in another customer unsuspected into his lies and deception. It's just disgusting to me that they are allowed to do business like this and get away with it. THIS IS WHY INSURANCE COST SO MUCH!!!! Don't know how they sleep at night. A1 Auto in Chelmsford is the worst repair shop I have ever used. The night I showed up to drop off my car, the owner Craig asked me to wait while he drove with a customer to buy gas for her truck as if it was my problem she let her gas level get too low. Then when he returned 20 min later, all he did was hand me his card and tell me he didn't need to talk to me at all. My car was at his repair shop for 2 WEEKS to have a bumper replaced. During that time, the progress reports I got from Craig were different from the progress reports I got from my insurance company. Not sure who was lying. When I finally got my car back, the windshield was cracked, the gas tank was close to empty and all the repairs weren't completed. It cost me 2 weeks in rental car fees, I had to take my car elsewhere to be repaired and I had to initiate another claim for the windshield to be replaced. Poor communication, poor service and poor workmanship. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! read more
