Great historical cafe in Vienna, the waiting can be loooong but worth. The presentation of the place made the environment cozy and historical. The pastries, different kinds of coffees, homemade ice-creams and chocolate make this place a memorable experience in Vienna. Service.. well as expected for a such a popular place. I come here a lot to grab a coffee on my way. Nice place to grab a quick meal or to sit and relax. Their menu is pretty basic - grilled cheese sandwiches etc. Coffee is really good. I've been coming here for several years, due to my business trips and have never had an issue with the service or waitstaff. read more

This place seems pretty legendary in Vienna. Decided to pop in for some of the sweet treats that the city is so famous for. I should preface this and say that I'm not a "sweets" person. I prefer savory. That said, the cream cake I had was tasty, and I always love a good macaron. Sipping white wine is always a pleasure as well. It was just okay. the service was sort of . . . relaxed. I was not in any hurry, so I can't knock them for that, but if you are, well - there is that. Their selection of aforementioned sweet treats is pretty formidable, so it's definitely worth a stop, should you find yourself in this beautiful city. read more

A refreshing end to a long day We stopped in at Aida for something to top off a long day at being a tourist. Of all the bakery items on display, I instead went for the also inviting looking raspberry ice cream. It was refreshing, not sweet but true to the berry flavor. The person who helped us was pleasant and I liked the appearance of the brightly colored place. read more

The food and products are adorable and really appeal to those that kind pink but the service is absolutely horrible. I didn't know that a waitress would scoff when I tried to order something that was on the menu but had to be purchased separately at the counter. One cup of coffee took 15 minutes. As I was leaving and making my way out, the same woman decided it would be a good idea to shove Mr to the side to get past me. I was helping my mum who has trouble walking get past a step. Terrible. So we wanted to have some desserts and this cafe was right not far from where we were. It looks big, the selection of desserts is super great, location is great too as it's across the street from the Opera house. But that's about it. The rest was not good. We wanted to sit outside, didn't know where exactly to sit, there were no signs of waiters, got inside, asked if we could sit outside, a cashier said ask the waitress , all of the waitresses were running back and forth, probably because they were super busy, I guess, although the cage inside was not full. So we finally found a waitress , who upriplu ubrubtly told us sit where ever we wanted to. So we sat outside, waited for god knows how long, nobody came to us to take an order, so my husband went inside to find a waitress. So he got a waitress, she took our order, there were 4 of us, we all ordered different things. It took forever to bring our order, and on top of that she forgot to bring one order all together. So as to the desserts, we didn't like any of them: we took strudel, and 3 different slices of cakes. They are all way too sweet, didn't enjoy them at all. Definitely not worth going there. read more

First off, I would like to congratulate this place for making me gain back nearly all the 30lbs I lost before my trip to Austria. Understand, this is a cafe culture so it was only fitting to partake in this daily ritual. Big mistake! The cakes, the pastries, the coffees are just too good. You'll love the pastries and cakes here, they're awesome but be prepared to hit the treadmill when you get home. Staff was also helpful and friendly. read more

Aida is a pretty reliable bakery and coffee shop in Vienna, and I've had several locals tell me that it's a good place to pick up a dessert (including to bring to a party if you don't have time to bake). I've had the apple strudel, which was really good, and this is one of the few places that didn't put raisins in it! (Austrians put raisins in everything for some god-forsaken reason.) This particular Aida, across from the Staatsoper/Vienna's State Opera House, provided me with good coffee several mornings before German class, and it was also a lounging/study place of mine from time to time. I really like the Aida melange (I think it is), which is a melange (a cappuccino) with whipped cream. Aida isn't the cheapest place, but I've never had a burnt coffee there, so it strikes me as pretty dependable - something desirable in a chain restaurant/cafe. read more

Very bad service. If you would say "American coffee, please" the waiter would scream at you "it's not a Starbucks! It's AIDA". And how would tourist know that in Austria you have other name for this type of coffee. Is that so yards to explain that in a nice way? Staff is rude and unfriendly. Coffee is very average. You can find better places. Cakes looks terrible. Once I had breakfast there and I can't say anything good about it. read more

I came to visit my daughter in Vienna and had a very bad and unpleasant experience at this place though it was a nice looking and seemed decent. A guy showed up into the restaurant and was very clearly bothering us for some time at our table and yelling at us asking to look to some paper At the same time he stole my new phone. The waitress who was serving us didn't do anything and ignored the yelling and the whole situation though she very clearly was watching him from the side. She was ignoring me after that when I tried to speak to her about it. It seemed that the waitress may have had some connection with the thief because another waiter wanted to help out by letting us use their phone to call my phone, but she was ignoring him as well when he asked her about it. If you ever visit this place watch for your wallet, phone, and purse!!! read more

Looks nice enough inside, but I was absolutely shocked by the treatment we received here. Instead of the strudel we requested from the display case, we were served a picked-over looking piece that was apparently kept in the back room. They flatly refused to give us a piece from the display window. The "Sacher Torte" was dry, perhaps even stale, and clad in a waxy brown icing. Anyone could make better cake at home, using Betty Crocker mix. Worse yet, they pulled the classic tourist trap stunt: brought out a bottle of water we did not order, and then pretended to be unable to understand English OR German when I told them we didn't want it. I have never raised my voice at anyone working in a restaurant, but at this point I made an exception. She finally removed the bottled water from our table. I paid for the other stuff so we could leave, but then found myself in a conversation with someone who claimed to be in charge. Like everyone else there, he was apparently not Austrian, but understood both English and German. His response to my obvious dissatisfaction was "that is your problem"...wow. The next day, my wife was talking to an Austrian lady who spoke very highly of Vienna coffee shops and wanted to know where we'd been. When she heard "Aida" she cringed and said rather emphatically "oh no, that place is only for tourists!" Best to avoid. You can do much better. read more

This chain café bakery are pretty good with its pastries specially the famous sacher torte. The Asian looking waitress had an attitude with almost every one of her customers including us. We ordered a hot chocolate and instead it was room temperature, we told her it was not hot enough and she took it back with an attitude behind the counter and just warmed it up in the microwawe...I'm sure the chocolate machine was not working properly that cold, snowy day.... read more

Since the cafe was close to our door hotel we went there to have breakfast, no one was there to help us so we took a menu for ourselves to start looking at it. We waited outside and then decided to go inside to look for help, we sit on a table and we waited for a few minutes to see if they were willing to help us. Finally my husband went to the counter to ask for help and then the woman in charge just yelled at us and a few other people and told us that they did have table service so that we should wait. At that point I just took my things and move out of that place and promised myself never to go back. It is a great impression to have as a customer and a tourist. *sarcasm read more

As we were looking for our meeting place for the Vienna walking tour, we quite literally stumbled upon Aïda Cafe. We had about 15 minutes to get to the tour so we were looking for a quick java fix to jump start our day. As we entered the cafe, we were surprised by the amount of variety of cakes (not pastry) available for our choosing. We tried Esterhasi Cake and it was, for the lack of better term, amazing. When it came to ordering though, we had a surprise waiting for us. Initially, the gentleman serving us agreed to give us take away cups, but after a quick exchange with the owner in German, she came over to us and quite assertively said that "this is NOT McDonald" and they don't do take away! We decided to stay anyway and it was worth it! As we sat down, we realized why the owner said what she said. Aïda is an all original cafe and it prides itself in service, quality and atmosphere. We highly recommend the place but please don't be like us, stay and enjoy it for more than 10 minutes (we are going back today). read more
