I hired 99 Handy to build an indoor 9'x7' wall with specialized insulation. Their builder arrived six hours late with the wrong building materials on the first day. On the second day, he arrived late again, at 6pm and didn't compete the job. I called 99 twice to have the wall fixed, emailed them twice, and sent them two facebook messages asking them to fix their work. They stuck me with a half-finished, warped wall, which had to be completely re-done. See my pics of their horrible work and horrible customer service. Do not use 99 Handy. Update 12/20/2016 - 99 has not reimbursed me, as they claim in their below response. They were also untruthful about the materials purchased. I contacted 99 Handy to replace a bathroom fan in my condo before renting it out to a new tenant. I initially set up my appointment for Monday. The weekend before he was scheduled to arrive, Stephanie contacted me to say that Paul was too busy to come on Monday and it would have to be pushed to Tuesday. I explained that I was moving and that Monday would be better since I need to get it fixed. She insisted that he had to come on Tuesday, and told me that he had time to both provide an estimate and both fix the fan on Tuesday. I left work early in order to get home for Paul to arrive at 6:30 PM. He never showed up. I emailed Stephanie around 7 PM and she told me that her she had emailed me but "it must have gotten caught in her outbox", but that Paul had gotten caught up in the previous job and wouldn't be able to come. I explained, again, that I would be moving and needed this fixed. Stephanie told me she didn't know what I was talking about, that even if Paul could come provide an estimate he wouldn't be able to fix it. I responded back with a screenshot of Stephanie telling me he could both provide an estimate and fix it in one day. Stephanie then promised me that Paul would arrive at 6 AM the next day to fix it. I was very clear, again, with Stephanie that my movers were coming at 7 AM and he had to be on time since I was leaving. I got up super early to be ready for his arrival... and he arrived at 7:15 AM, an hour and 15 minutes late, as my movers were in the midst of moving. He did tell me what the problem was, but said he'd have to come back and fix it. I told him he'd have to coordinate with my tenant who was moving in. I connected Stephanie and Paul with my tenant. She scheduled two times for him to come fix the issue and both times, he never showed without notice. Finally my tenant emailed Stephanie and Stephanie responded that she no longer works for 99 Handy. I texted Paul twice last week asking him to please fix the gaping hole in my bathroom wall, and got no response. Please stay away at all costs. I have contacted Paul about repairing windowsills in my condo. I paid him $125 (50% Down required per his instruction to start the job). We had agreed on a date and time for him to come back and fix it. There were multiple delays in him coming by with excuse after excuse, and I was patient. Paul has done two jobs for us now. He's really easy to get in touch wish, super reliable, knowledgeable, and importantly: REASONABLE! First job was to install a microwave - it was done in a jiffy. Second job was plumbing work. We had been quoted over $650 by different plumbers the day before, and Paul just finished it perfectly for under $200. He also came one day after we first called to make an appointment. Asked for a partial refund and instead was given a $35 credit for the next time I used Handy - like there was going to be a next time. Paul replaced a bad faucet and lightbulbs which are 16 feet high, painted a door, installed a towel rack, hung pictures. All done efficiently, neatly, timely, and professionally. Plus he's a nice and trustworthy guy. Definitely 5*! read more

Reached out about a quote by email and Paul responded right away - seemed great at first! We agreed he'd come on the next Monday or Tuesday, and he said he'd confirm once he knew exactly when. Never heard from him, so I emailed him on Tuesday. He then responded with a bunch of erroneous information about some other job, so he had mixed me up with another customer. Once a few more emails were exchanged and he figured out who I was, we then agreed on a precise day and time the following week he would come. He never showed up, and when I emailed a half hour after the time he was supposed to be here, he never responded. Two weeks later and never heard a word back!! Have now gotten the job done with MNM who were super nice and reliable. Stay home from work for an appointment with Paul at your own risk... two no shows and then ghosted. read more

Please do not use services of Paul for any furniture assembly. Here are my reasons 1. I had to fix a PAX wardrobe and requested a quote. He asked irrelevant questions such as how many doors, what are the dimensions etc. I kind of understood where he was going. He quoted a whopping $299. P.S the cost of furniture is $240 2. He kept stressing that PAX system was the most fragile piece of furniture the IKEA makes. Biggest joke! 3. I had a feeling he was bluffing and looked up reviews of the furniture and got quote for $95 from another person around the area and he fixed that wardrobe and another night stand in 60 minutes! No hassle at all From the reasons above, it is very clear that Paul tries to fool you by quoting ridiculous prices and I would never ever use his service and would definitely not recommend him. Update: Answer to your questions: A) you never used us. Your ridiculous questions and over the top price quote were good enough reasons I didn't use you in the first place. I'm glad I didn't and never will. I'm trying to save customers whom you will try to dupe B) our prices work very well with our hundreds of clients. There are better options out there and my goal is to save customers from people like you C) you Just gave our entire staff a great laugh. ha ha ha. We were looking for some help on installing about 15 curtain rods and blinds for our new home. We actually chose another contractor at the first place but he just didn't show up... We were very upset but needed to get the work done asap before the official moving-in so I quoted/called a lot of handyman services. 99handy replied me first and said they could help us in the very last minute call! That was awesome! Paul came last night. He is pretty professional and efficient! he is polite but focusing more on working, by which I meant not very talkative comparing to some other contractors we worked with before. I think it is plus. Paul (99 handy) you are the only thief that I know. You are the one that over charged me in a separate job and when I complained and asked for the right bill, you became incumminicado. You stole my boxes of wood floors, vanity, door, etc. The men you introduced to me as your worker and supervisor that are your "sub contractors who stole" as you now call them never stole from me. They are truthful about the job they did and adviced you on the over charged. They did wonderful jobs for me and if I need them I will let them into my property anytime. It should be noted that this is the only communication option I have right now. As the only two officials of 99 handy are incumminicado. One (his mother) hung up on me the last time I tried to talk to her and the other (Paul) only sends texts boastful that they have 100% rating, instead of sending the right bill for a job and also returning items for a separate job site since December 2015. read more

Paul did three jobs for me. I have never been more satisfied with a handyman than I am with Paul. In summary: For the first job, I had Paul remove an old washer dryer and install a new washer dryer. He charged me less than half of what other companies charged, and he never went beyond his original quote in spite of some special requests that I had made (stacking the washer dryers and using metal hoses instead of the default hoses). My washer works perfectly. For the next job, Paul installed a fan in my bathroom. Honestly, the last fan sounded like a dying animal. Paul noticed the awful sound, found an excellent fan for a great price, and installed it within days. I didn't know how awesome life with a working fan is until now (seriously). Next, I had Paul retile around 40 square feet of floor space. The job was complex - he had to remove the old tile, which was warped and damaged, and he also had to replace some of the damaged subfloor. He did a great job keeping costs down without compromising the quality of the work. For example, he waived any fees for actually picking up the tile from home depot; he also did not upcharge me in spite of the complexity of the job, which only manifested itself upon removal of the tile. My dad always talks about his respect for guys who "keep it old school." He is talking about people who are men and women of their word who just deliver excellent results each time. Paul is that guy, and he is part of that dying breed. He has a copy of my keys, and he has an informal retainer for any job I need. It is the least that I can do. read more

We contacted 99 Handy to fix our kitchen sink, which was becoming separated from the counter. The owner, Paul, responded very quickly and we set up an appointment. He arrived on time and quickly completed the repair - which included coming back a second day to tighten some clips. Paul and his crew pulled out 3 rooms + hall worth of particle board and installed a nice plywood subfloor ready for hardwood. They came with 2 days notice just to get my job done. Josh of 99 Handy just finished a job for us and we could not be more pleased with the quality of work. Paul met with us to review the job and submit an estimate. He was prompt, polite and thorough. Paul took the time to ask questions and made sure he understood the scope of the job and emphasized that 99 Handy wanted us to be pleased with the end result. All job requirements were documented. Josh, the construction specialist, exceeded our expectations! He was prepared, friendly and very focused. We needed an overhang replaced over a Boston South End exterior stairs. It needed to meet historical constraints and the required work was in a difficult location to access. Josh showed up on time, had all the required materials and went right to work. After an hour, it started to rain and he continued to work! He has an impressive work ethic and just was focused on getting the job done and doing it properly. Josh went above and beyond. As he completed demolition, he became aware of some rot that was not previously exposed. He corrected that problem, expertly installed exterior trim work and then touched it up with paint we had on hand. This wasn't even part of the job quoted, but Josh just took pride in his work and wanted it to look perfect. 99 Handy provided a fair estimate and even though the scope of the work was greater, they did not increase the required payment! Paul, Stephanie and Anthony did an unbelievable job for us this last holiday weekend. My daughter and her four roommates moved into a brownstone apartment and they had several items of furniture delivered that needed to be constructed. The Ikea type furniture was something we could have done but the bed, for instance, would have taken us at least 6 hours and they did it in an hour. Some of the furniture had to be constructed by a pro (such as a large cabinet with glass covering). 99 Handy did it all in remarkable time. They also helped with getting the apartment livable - from mounting a large screen tv, to adding light fixtures (electrical in the old building was a mess), to installing curtains. We live out of town and had limited time, so they even went out and bought the missing pieces necessary for completing the job. Plus, they worked through the holiday weekend, knowing we were on a time crunch. I feel I have new friends in 99 Handy that I could call at any time when there's fixing to do.
