Yesterday I contacted Rob of Anytime Property Solutions to see if they can reattached a soffit that…read morepartially collapsed along one side of my house. He and a coworker came by today to take a look at the damage. They found that the problem was due to the lack of a drip edge, which caused the wood to rot over time, and the gutter to fill with water and partially collapse. The screws attaching the eave to the soffit, which had more severely collapsed, fell out due to the rotted wood. Because the needed repairs were more extensive than what initially seemed like a straightforward fix (per the photo I sent them), they recommended I contact a roofer to make the repairs. Rob and his coworker were both very helpful, honest, and a pleasure to work with. They did not charge me for coming out to my house or for the diagnosis. I wouldn't hesitate to contact them again if needed.

Examined everything carefully -- literally got down on his hands and knees to look at the concrete and the foundation around the door. Poked at everything, took measurements. You could immediately tell that this was someone who really *cared* about the job, and about the work he was doing. He told me what kind of door I needed to get, I picked one out, he said "That one is too expensive for what you need!" and suggested a couple other doors. He's the expert! It was perfect. He even picked up the door for me from Home Depot for no extra charge. Not only that, but his estimate was lower than any of the other three estimates I got for the same job! I was so happy with the door, I hired him to rebuild my front porch a month later. It was fantastic. Same attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship. He noted some issues with the support structures for the existing porch (the thing was about to collapse!), offered a couple options for rebuilding it and installing new concrete and rebar -- the cost overruns were only 8% of the total project. I went from having the worst porch in the neighborhood, to having the best porch. Seriously, this guy is a steal. Really knows what he's doing, cares about the work, and he's super nice and friendly! I've hired tons of contractors for work on my house and I still can't believe he actually exists.

On the second day, he arrived late again, at 6pm and didn't compete the job. I called 99 twice to have the wall fixed, emailed them twice, and sent them two facebook messages asking them to fix their work. They stuck me with a half-finished, warped wall, which had to be completely re-done. See my pics of their horrible work and horrible customer service. Do not use 99 Handy. Update 12/20/2016 - 99 has not reimbursed me, as they claim in their below response. They were also untruthful about the materials purchased. Feel free to IM me for my itemized 99Handy receipt and picture evidence.

The weekend before he was scheduled to arrive, Stephanie contacted me to say that Paul was too busy to come on Monday and it would have to be pushed to Tuesday. I explained that I was moving and that Monday would be better since I need to get it fixed. She insisted that he had to come on Tuesday, and told me that he had time to both provide an estimate and both fix the fan on Tuesday. I left work early in order to get home for Paul to arrive at 6:30 PM. He never showed up. I emailed Stephanie around 7 PM and she told me that her she had emailed me but "it must have gotten caught in her outbox", but that Paul had gotten caught up in the previous job and wouldn't be able to come. I explained, again, that I would be moving and needed this fixed. Stephanie told me she didn't know what I was talking about, that even if Paul could come provide an estimate he wouldn't be able to fix it. I responded back with a screenshot of Stephanie telling me he could both provide an estimate and fix it in one day. Stephanie then promised me that Paul would arrive at 6 AM the next day to fix it. I was very clear, again, with Stephanie that my movers were coming at 7 AM and he had to be on time since I was leaving. I got up super early to be ready for his arrival... and he arrived at 7:15 AM, an hour and 15 minutes late, as my movers were in the midst of moving. He did tell me what the problem was, but said he'd have to come back and fix it. I told him he'd have to coordinate with my tenant who was moving in. I connected Stephanie and Paul with my tenant. She scheduled two times for him to come fix the issue and both times, he never showed without notice. Finally my tenant emailed Stephanie and Stephanie responded that she no longer works for 99 Handy. I texted Paul twice last week asking him to please fix the gaping hole in my bathroom wall, and got no response. Please stay away at all costs. I don't know how anyone could possibly give them a good review. And Paul, please feel free to respond to my texts.

Jobs were fairly priced, not on the high or low end. He was nice and seemed knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the above was the extent of my good experience with this company. We wanted to initially move forward with 2 jobs at our place, totaling about $9,000. Upon completion of these 2 jobs, we had another 2 bigger jobs coming in which, based on previous quotes, would have been about around $100K total. If our experience would have been good, we would have chosen them for these other 2 jobs. Unfortunately, this was our experience that made me waste 2 weeks of my time that I could have used to perform the work already: 1. When we told Tony we were ready to move forward and asked for a contract, he didn't have any templates to provide so I asked if he was OK with me drafting one. He agreed to it. 2. After spending time drafting a standard contract for both of our protection, indicating payment timelines, guarantees, proof of insurance, and work to be performed, we received a text saying he doesn't want to go through all this trouble. OK... I wouldn't do any job without licensed and fully insured contractors so, if they can't prove that, I don't move forward. Better safe than sorry! 3. Then I got another text apologizing and saying that they can take the job and just asked for a minor change in the contract before signing it, which was related to the payment. I made the change and I also offered him to provide any template he feels more comfortable with if there was any concern. He confirmed there were no other concerns or changes he wanted to make. 4. I sent him the updated draft to be signed, then he came back saying that the warranty request was "silly". I initially suggested 20 years because that's what other contractors offered. In order to make it work, I asked him what he feels is fair and feels comfortable with. At this point, his answer was that he doesn't want to go through all of this for a job. To date, I am still trying to figure out what was exactly the issue: do they have insurance? are they fully licensed? do they know how to perform the job I was asking for and feel confident with their workmanship? If the answer to all these questions is 'yes', then I do not understand the reason why they wouldn't want a contract for both, my and their protection. The only thing that comes to mind is that either of the questions above comes with 'no' for an answer, and/or they are choosing the jobs where they will make more profit. They made me waste 2 weeks of time and I now have to start over looking for a contractor, or just take a couple of days of and do it myself. With respect to the other $100K projects, I will look for a company where that provides a signed contract like any serious business.
