Klos was my favorite radio station-yes I had the pleasure of listening to Mark and Brian in the morning. I transitioned on to Heidi and Frank, which is closer to my age group. They are hilarious. However, this new format has them on for maybe 15 minutes an hour if you count their shameless commercials for the "my pillow" which to me is not enough time! Now you add in Lisa May-which Heidi and her talk over each other-clamoring for Franks attention-and I'm done. Sorry KLOS I'll try and switch back between the commercials on the other stations. Only giving it 1 star due to the annoyances of the morning program, you have 3 people speaking their minds about nonsense and worthless info crap that is not even needed to be said (irony by this post). Frank says the dumbest things that make no sense and since the Heidi person only finished kindergarten she will laugh her dumb laugh at anything that isn't funny. Same 50-100 songs played over and over and over and over and over ad nauseum. Not that KLOS doesn't play great songs, it's just that they play the same ones so much I can't stand to listen to them anymore. Yeah, Led Zeppelin is my favorite band, too, but when I hear a song by them on KLOS I immediately change the station because I am seriously afraid it will be ruined forever for me if I hear it one more time on this freaking station! And even with Zeppelin they play the same songs over and over. Way back in the day, I loved KMET, KWST, and KLOS I think came out of that vein, but over the years it has deteriorated into a boring station with a terrible lack of any variety (as others have stated). And not just classic music, but classic DJs as well. In fact, I think Jim Ladd's dismissal may have been the final nail in the coffin of KLOS (and maybe L.A. classic rock radio in general). I just found out about this from the Mrs. (who stumbled on it accidentally) and have been texting my friends to let them know ever since. Same reaction: pure & utter joy! I have a love/hate relationship with this station. They keep yanking the rug out from under great shows! Lately it's THE SESSION with Christian James Hand. This was the coolest show on radio PERIOD and they yanked it. TOTALLY UNCOOL. Cool station been listening to KLOS since I was a kid . Went to pick up Ozzfest tickets and staff was very friendly all except the security guard at the front desk. I walked in asked him questions he should know and he didn't know a damn thing. And he was a little rude about it also . It was like he didn't wanna be bothered.. he was a young guy with glasses. They need to either train him with better people skills or find someone else.. but other than that rude security guard my visit was awesome oh and they gotta bring back MARK AND BRIAN !! read more

When I was a kid the debate was which station was better. KMET or KLOS. Well I don't know that KLOS was better,but I do know it has stood the test of time. I have to admit,I'm not a fan of all the music that they play. But then again, I would figure myself to be a radio frequency surfer. I'll listen to a song or two then switch frequencies. I guess that's why in Oct. of 2005 I went with Sirius satellite radio. The choices are endless. But there's one thing that satellite radio does not have, and that's Jim Ladd. And I guess that's where the review begins. Jim Ladd has been a Los Angeles radio icon as long as I can remember. His writing/producing and musical journalism has been instrumental in the developmental of L.A. rock radio. 5 stars to KLOS for allowing JIm to have free reign of his show. Something not everyone get's. I can remember one Thanksgiving day,while most were watching football,a small group of us were in the garage listening to Jim Ladd tell us about Jim Morrison and the Doors.The interviews and stories were great. Very detailed. Headsets has been a radio favorite of mine for a while. Coming home at all hours of the night due to long production days,It was cool to have Jim along for the ride home. I was saddened to hear of Deidre O'Donoghue's passing(1946-2001),the originator of Breakfast With The Beatles,but was pleased to hear that Jim would be continuing the show she started. Large cities have their own radio personalities that have been staples in their area. New York has a number of them. From Alan Freed(who coined the phrase "Rock-N-Roll"),to Bruce Morrow(AKA Cousin Brucie)and everything in between(some would even throw Howard Stern in there,but that's another review). Well guess what,we here in Los Angeles have had our share of great radio personalities as well. B. Michell Reed,David Perry,Cynthia Fox,Paraquat Kelly,Ace Young,Mary"The Burner"Turner(Off The Record)Frazar Smith(To Hip,Gotta Go)Jeff Gonzar,Jim Pewter,Mike Harrison,and who could forget Dr.Demento on Sunday evenings.And the list goes on and on(sorry if I left any names out.There are so many).Some have passed,a few still around. This radio station is the only one in Los Angeles I can bear to listen to every other station seems to loop the same emo indie garbage over and over again like i need to hear more lip synced music. Anyway the cool thing about Klos is that it has some pretty awesome programs where they dedicate an hour to a band or just a live concert of good music, and by good music I mean classic rock a genre where musicians wrote their own music played their own instruments and sang their own songs. The only bad thing is that they constantly mix in some wuss rock in their sets ie. Pink Floyd, CCR, Steve Wynwood, and then suprise! Nickelback. Nickelback? are you kidding me why on earth would anyone would play nickelback on their station to begin with is beyond me but playing it on the only true rock station in LA is just retarded. KLOS has a new, horrible program director named Keith Cunningham. He runs a music format that takes the same 40-60 songs and rotates those same 40-60 songs for a month. The following month they will slightly alter the playlist, and then kill those same 40-60 songs for an entire month. To make is worse, this butthole program director has horrible taste in music. On the rare occasions that he has a good song on his monthly playlist, you hate it by the end of the month, because you've heard it so many times. read more

I give it one star : I love Jonses Jukebox (I like the interviews the banter and I enjoy music selection punk rock although I mostly listen to classic heavy metal... it's smart and fun..,) HOWEVER... the morning show with Frank, Frosty and Heidi is TERRIBLE... what they say and do on air is most likely due to = lack of creativity. It's not intelligent and sometimes I think they promote cruelty. That Heidi woman with her fake horrible laugh it feels like nails to a chalkboard... she laughs at anything... it's painful to the senses. I want to listen to good mix of rock with minimal chatter. This trio has ruined many mornings I finally learned not to turn on the radio until after 10 am because sometimes they promote or share cruel stories that cannot easily be erased from your thoughts. Last week they rewarded this guy who confessed on radio he had discarded his sick cat by dumping it at a senior residential neighborhood and had lied about it to his spouse (promoting cruelty.) Once I turned on the radio to listen to Heidi describe how her father used to kill rabbits... too late I already heard her describe how the rabbits were suffering. One star for this terrible trio (because if I could give minus five stars I'd do so but in order to post I had to give it at least one) for lack of sensitivity cruelty and for ruining many mornings. It seems that a lot of there conversations alway or mostly pertain about sex or something sexual. The topics some time get old. They need to jazz it up. For a while now they have been playing music in between and it was better with out it. Once on the show Frank read that some listeners were complaining about the music and Frank said, "well I like it, so I don't care!". Maybe that's why they've lots some listeners, because they don't care. read more

Let me start off by saying I've been a listener to this station for the last 15 years. Mornings with Frosty, Heidi, and Frank are great, probably the best thing this station currently has to offer. Where this station has fallen, in my opinion, is the selection of music as it's gone down the toilet in recent years. Where I used to hear legendary and timeless artists like The Doors, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, The Cars, David Bowie, Boston, Chicago, Eric Clapton, The Eagles, Supertramp, Bob Dylan, and The Beatles I now get things like Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilipeppers, Green Day, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Rival Sons, and bad Metallica covers of classic rock songs. I can understand the mindset behind trying to become an all-en-composing Rock station, but in the end I do not think it's a good change. I suppose I should have seen this coming when they changed their slogan from "Southern California's Classic Rock" to "The Rock of Southern California". Jonesy's Jukebox in the afternoon is great for the music selection, so that's all I'll say on that. Another problem I have with this station currently is it cannot even do Two-fer Tuesday's right anymore. Before it was two songs (hence TWO-fer Tuesdays) by every artist. Now it's just seemingly random which bands will get two songs throughout the day, most of the time it's not two songs. Which begs the question why even do Two-fer Tuesdays anymore if you're not going to even do it right. Then we get to Rockline Replays (RIP BC) where most of the time we'll get the same few interviews we've heard over and over with the same song from the same band over and over. But you can leave it this station that has the entire Rockline vault at their disposal to only play a few with the repeat button pressed down. Repetitiveness is a real problem with this station. The times we do get classic rock songs it's the same two of three every time. Aerosmith is a good example, so many amazing songs yet they're content with playing Dream On or Love in an Elevator over and over. I closing, I'm just disappointed at what this station has become, and it's reinforcing my sad sentiment that true Classic Rock is dead in LA. The untimely demise of 100.3 The Sound was the last bastion for true Classic Rock here in Southern California and 95.5 KLOS does not seem interested in carrying on its legacy of Classic Rock. 100.3 The Sound had immense variety, I was so heart-broken to see such a great station go down. If 95.5 KLOS keeps going down the road it's currently on, in a few years it's going to be a monster that resembles 'Late 90s-Early 2000s' KROQ that occasionally plays Led Zeppelin. If you told me 10 or 15 years ago I'd have to wake up at 5am on a Saturday to get a variety of Classic Rock on this station I wouldn't have believed you, now it's the norm. read more

I like the music but what brought me to the station was Heidi and Frank. I've been listening to them for years and I'm happy with the addition of Lisa May, formerly of KROQ's Kevin & Bean morning show. I'm a bit disappointed in the recent change in format- more music during my commute than my morning show. I also loathe the ads they incorporate into the show (Sweet James, My Pillow, etc). That's when I change the station. A lot of potential here but much improvement needed. read more

I could listed to classic rock on a local station but instead I use up my battery life and time to listen to Heidi and Frank. Now you're adding not one song but 2 songs in between Heidi and Frank after 9:00 am. Please don't make me change to Mark in the mornings. I do listen to their podcast but only because I don't have to weed thru all the old rewarmed classic rock tunes that we've all heard over and over again. Been listening to KLOS for a loooong time. I remember when the lineup was: Mark and Brian mornings Bob Coburn 10-2 with his Noon Time Nuggets Gino Michellini 2-5 with the Bang the Drum and comedy Uncle Joe 6-10.....also did the 7th Day. Back then, KMET was the hip station, and KLOS the corporate one. Over the years, KLOS got pretty boring with their playlists. What a surprise to find them, all these years later, better than at any point in their history...and it all is due to three shows: Bob Coburn's Morning Show Steve Jones Breakfast with the Beatles The depth of the playlist on the first two of these is stellar. Coburn in particular is outstanding with his choices and range. On his days off, I don't even bother to tune in. Jonesey is just a joy to listen to. Perhaps he plays the same bands a bit too much (Geils, Bad Co, Roxy Music) but I like everything he plays. His interviews and personal observations about life are unique.....absolutely love that show and cannot believe it came back. What keeps it from being five stars? Well, the morning show is just trashy talk show junk. A poor man's Howard Stern / Kevin and Bean. And I'm not much of a metal fan, so the nighttime stuff is a bit meh. Lastly afternoon drive and weekends features overplayed boring rock. Ways to improve: - Give Mr. Shovel his own show to play what he wants (in addition to being with Steve.) He was great on KCSN. - Let Gary Moore play what he likes. He is a good jock but he seems to have to stick to a small playlist. It's as boring as the Sound, which is saying something. (Most boring station in LA.) - Dump the morning show. - Bring back some themed weekends. Thanks Bob, Steve, and "Mr. Shovel"....you guys revived KLOS. read more

This station is horrible!!! My father called in on one of their contests and won tickets to a show, they called him back a week later telling him the show was cancelled and because of that he will get nothing. When he asked if they could get some sort of consolation prize like tickets to something else perhaps they basically told him to get lost. Have been a fan for years. It started with Frazier Smith and yes I hung in there until the end. He was terrible but I stayed loyal. Then Mark and Brian I enjoyed them to the end laughed, cried celebrated, and said good bye. I was looking forward to Heidi and Frank...I have given them way to long to get it together. Heidi has a fake annoying laugh, Frank is lame. KLOS i am a loyal listener leaving. If you find someone new advertise it and I will return. My first time trying to donate blood at KLOS' blood drive. Just awful!! A total cluster-fu#*! I couldn't get an appointment for the first day,so I settled for 5:45 PM on the second day. I arrived early hoping to sneak in early, pick up a T-shirt and a concert ticket and perhaps see a DJ (as KLOS advertised) When I arrived, they were already 1-1/2 hours behind schedule. Only tickets left were for Larry the Cable Guy and Cynthia Fox was nowhere to be found. I walked away. I don't really blame this donation center; I blame KLOS for their false advertising. Apparently the only way to get any goodies was to be first in line on the first day of the drive, which I would think is pretty hard to do. This is the last time I will try to help KLOS and I will now donate blood at my convenience. read more
