I lived in South Korea for 3 years. This chicken is as close as you can get to the real thing!!! The staff was kind, we went around 12:45 on a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't busy. They make the chicken fresh so do expect to wait about 10-15 minutes. They were playing Korean dramas on the tv and it helped the atmosphere. Food is actually worth 5 stars. Unfortunately the service is lacking. The kids behind the counter mumble and acted like it was their first day but when I asked, they blamed new equipment. I ordered about $100 worth of food and when my number was called, half the order was missing. When I asked where the other items were, I got "Oh, I didn't hear you ask for that" but he repeated the order back to me correctly before I paid and he didn't give me the receipt. If you have time and patience, I recommend this place for the food....just level your expectations with service. Just what hickory needed, the perfect korean chicken. We decie to try this new eatery for dinner tonight and where blown away. We ordered the lemon wasabi whole chicken, an order of the red garlic gizzards, and a side order of kimchi. The chicken was fried fresh to absolute perfection, a beautiful golden crispy exterior, very tender and juicy meat, perfect amount of sauce, and not at all greasy. I know some of you will be skeptical about the gizzards, but they are equal to the chicken in quality and flavor, give em a try. We where pleasantly surprised by a variety of traditional fresh korean sides, sweet pickled daikon, refreshing pickled cucumber, a really tasty potato dish, and not to forget the really good kimchi we ordered on the side. We tried this place on their "grand opening" day. We went during lunch so that we can do their lunch special. As we walked up to the front desk, the cashier is all over the place. She shows us the menu just to tell us that they are out of everything besides whole and half chickens. We had to step away from the counter because she was just staring us down to go ahead and order. Luckily we waited for 5 minutes looking around on the menu because the truck came and they finally got some wings and drums in. We ordered the spicy garlic wings with a side of curly fries. When our order came out, we asked the guy for some ranch and he told us that he had ranch but that they couldn't give it us because it was still in the bottle. The chicken was meh, it got soggy due to the sauce. A little disappointed since over half of their menu was out and this was supposed to be their grand opening. We eat out a LOT and Korean food is a favorite. It is nothing to drive 4+ hours for great food and this is the first time I have ever posted a review. We drive from Sugar Mountain, NC for this food. I haven't gotten past ordering the classic Red Garlic (better than Bonchon -that we were driving to Charlotte for) chicken--it's juicy, so crispy and not too spicy; the wings are a good size with plenty of meat. Hands down THE BEST cucumber kimchi I have ever had! There is always an extra order that comes home with me.
