Got the brisket plate. It was tender and delicious. The hush puppies are great. Cole slaw was sub par. Service was 5 star. Highly recommend.

Wonderful spot... the gps brought us here and my entire family felt satisfied with both food AND service. The sweet owner came to us and gave us some back story of his business and of course offered to have anything we needed brought to us. Kind of a strange little place, at least as it relates to the drive thru window, and their Chili Dog is not exactly a classic, but the BBQ here is pretty good - better than much I've encountered in this part of the state. There are several locations for Hannah's Bar-B-Q in this area, and I assume they're all connected in some way, or once were. I've wanted to try the barbecue here, and this place is just a short distance off I-40, so we hit the drive thru. Circled the building but never did see a posted menu or a squawk box for ordering. Stopped at the only window I saw, and a nice lady took my order. I ordered a Chopped Sandwich with white slaw - she ask if I wanted pickles on it (forgot some places in this area do that) - got'em on the side. We also ordered a Hot Dog with mustard, chili & onions. Order was quickly filled and we were off. The chopped barbecue really was nice - rather finely chopped, clean, tender & moist with some red pepper flakes visible - not a lot of smokiness, but overall good flavor. Added a little of the vinegar based sauce, but it really didn't need it. The tomato based sauce was not one I like. The slaw was nice & mild, and they put in on the bottom of the sandwich - just a different wrinkle. Definitely would eat this barbecue again if the opportunity arose - and it probably will. The pickles on the side were nice and sharp dill slices - ate'em, just not on the sandwich. The Chili Dog was just a mess. Red onions were used, lots of them, and they were very strong, roll down the window strong - doubt they were cut fresh today - and they were put on last. I have never been fond of that positioning of onions on a hot dog. Chili was not at all bad, just wasn't much of it. The wiener was surprising - it had a snap like a natural casing wiener - not what I expect for a Southern style chili dog. Obviously would not order the hot dog again, but I'll have some more barbecue, if not here, then another location. read more

Not bad. Not the smokiest pork, not the best ever, but...good. Well priced...ground meet on bun, chips slaw on or off it. Brunswick stew was only ok and hush puppies were a little over fried. Service really great... Nice people. Helpful and fast. If really really hungry ... Pop off the interstate. read more

Was not impressed. Service was very slow & there was only one other family in the entire restaurant! I ordered the hamburger steak plate with potato salad and fried squash. It was okay, but the potato salad was disgusting, the potatoes were so dry (almost like they used rehydrated potatoes) So I sent it back and exchanged it for baked beans which were pretty good. Just moved to Claremont and I wish the service was better, there aren't many options close to Claremont read more

Meh. Yawn. Hannah's BBQ did not impress this yelper I was visiting a friend who lives in Claremont. In this town if you want to eat but don't want to drive to hickory you've got 2 choices: Claremont cafe or Hannah's. We chose Hannah's. Came for breakfast on a Saturday but it was around 10:30 so we had mostly missed the rush. Their menu is basic and very typical southern breakfast food choices - eggs, omelets, livermush, grits, rice and gravy, biscuits etc. Although it wasn't very busy the service was soooo slow. I guess I'm used to Florida time where things move a bit quicker. But here in small town NC they are on their own time. We were dining with two toddlers and not really in the mood to wait 30 minutes for food. The server blamed it on a new cook in the kitchen. Meh. Anyhow I ordered the 3 eggs with rice, biscuits, grits and livermush. Eggs were just okay (maybe the omelets have more flavor), rice biscuits and grits were all good. Livermush was disappointing. I am not an expert in this dish but have had it before and this was not as good as I experienced in the past. The slice was too thick and grossed me out for some reason. Couldn't finish it. The prices were decent and portions were pretty good. I'm giving 2.5 stars. If the service was better and the food just a tad bit improved I'd give a solid 3. We've always stopped & gotten BBQ sandwiches at Hannah's in Claremont. Normally it's good. However, we stopped today & they've changed their bread/bun (did not like) & put very little BBQ & Slaw on sandwiches. We ended up with basically a "dry bread sandwich". read more

Country fried steak may not be what you're used to if you get it anywhere else but it still has a nice taste. Not breaded, just a thick slab of breakfast steak. I would have to give the breakfast a 3.5/5. ON THE OTHER HAND. The barbecue from here is amazing. 5/5. Perfect every time. We order pounds at a time for get-togethers and just dinner with roommates. Their dinner/lunch menu is great. If you're new around and don't know much about southern barbecue do yourself a favor and stop in. The scenery of the place on the inside may not be the best with the assorted random necessities across the wall for sale. Some people might even feel a little segregated depending on political views but I promise to you the staff here are all humble and kind. They treat everyone with respect. So go get a barbecue sandwich with some of their sauce. Which a lot of people love, but I personally believe there's just a little too much vinegar in the sauce. Maybe a little more brown sugar to take away from the sour vinegary taste, there are two sauces on each table anyway. One vinegar based sauce and one barbecue sauce. So have one taste like vinegar and the other like barbecue sauce and it would be perfect. read more

The barbecue wasn't very good...it was almost too watery. I didn't really like the hush puppies either. However, the onion rings were really good. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant was small, but cut and appeared to be clean. I would not buy barbecue there again. read more
