Despite not being particularly fond of Thai cuisine, I recently discovered 9Chan, a family-owned restaurant that has won me over. I have visited multiple times and consistently order their Pad Kapao. Even if you're not a fan of this particular food, it seems almost every dish can be personalized based on the type of meat that you like. Sometimes you get tired of German food, and the Mexican food around here isn't authentic. So at least you can try some authentic Thai food if you can handle the spiciness.

Got the sate and veggie spring rolls as an appetizer. Sate was amazing, would have been a 10/10 if the sauce bowl was easier to dip in. Spring rolls were very standard, super tasty. Got the Thai tea with boba and would not recommend it. Service was quick; I ordered and received my food in 10 minutes. Visited on a Saturday evening and it was really full and ambience was great. The boba was not the right texture and the Thai tea tasted like it was missing something. The 9Chan noodle soup was DELICIOUS. Highly recommend the spicy broth and a must get are the wontons in it.

First time to enjoy this wonderful Thai Restaurant. Located in the middle of downtown Landstuhl, 9Chan offers indoor and outdoor seating and is easily accessible by foot, bus, or car. The staff was very warm and welcoming and most are fluent in English. The meal was very good. The appetizers we ordered were V1, V5, and V7 from the menu, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Fried Panko Breaded Tiger prawns, and Steamed Shrimp Dumplings. All very fresh and very delicious! The main course consisted of Massaman Curry (C4), Sweet & Sour Chicken (R3), and Pad Prik w Crispy Chicken (R7). All were on point with exactly how we remember them from our time in Thailand. My only issue with the crispy chicken was that it was a little heavily breaded and it got pretty soggy as the meal went on... the flavors of each entre were excellent... the heat factor was a little on the low side, but all in all, an excellent dining experience and we'll surely go back for more!

This place never disappoints! The food is consistently delicious! My go to place when I want Thai food or when I'm not sure what to eat. I've eaten at 9 Chan over a dozen times in the past couple years. The family is so nice and always remembers us whenever we arrive. I've tried almost all their appetizers. I've had a couple different curries, the pad thai, pad see ew and a few other dishes. My favorite dishes are the green curry with chicken or crispy duck OR the pad see ew with crispy duck. The food is full of flavor and the duck is cooked perfectly! There were times where I ate here twice a week. If you like spicy food you can add chili pepper flakes. For the papaya salad you can make it spicier by asking for more chili peppers. I normally only get one or two because I can't handle spicy since I was pregnant with my son but I love the flavor the chili's provide. To drink I always get the Thai tea with milk. They have boba now which is always yummy to add in as well. If you're in the area and want Thai food or good food. EAT HERE! You will not be disappointed.

Service was decent, the food was good, but very small portions for the price. They speak good English as well.

Although there wasn't anyone dining in they were constantly cooking in the back as there were pick ups and delivery folks constantly coming in and out. Got the food home. The fried rice was good. The first bite of pad Thai had a strong hit of fish sauce so I squeezed the lime all over it and it took it down a few notches. It was really good after that. So far the best Thai place I've found in the Kaiserslautern area.

This isn't the first time we ordered from them and they're usually okay, not great but decent. This time it was horrible, I ordered the soup and it is bland and no shrimp in it like it should have. I also ordered papaya salad and there was no papaya in it, just straight up lettuce and cucumber like I wasn't going to notice. The appetizers tasted like they were from the previous day and they were already cold. The Panang curry was so watery and bland as well. I'm just hoping no one gets sick from eating this crap. This place is expensive for crappy food and I don't mind paying for food that's worth the price. I'm super disappointed. I'm dumping everything in the trash because that's where this crap belongs. Never again!!! If I can put a negative 5 star on it I would. Yuk!

They are all about presentation which means you literally pay the price for the plating (very expensive, especially for Thai food!). It is connected to a hotel and was actually very quiet when we were dining in during lunch. It remained that way throughout our meal. Interior is pleasantly clean and bright! Chicken Satay - Chicken was cooked nicely. The meat was tender and juicy, although also a little bit oily. The peanut sauce was only okay. The small side of the Thai cucumber salad was definitely flavorless. Their vinegar dressing needed more sugar. Pad Thai - Good but not great. It does have that Pad Thai sauce taste (sweeter side), but didn't have any of the extra special *umph* when it came to the salty and spicy factor. Beef was overcooked and chewy. Curry Ma-sa-man - Liquidy. But I don't say it like a good or bad thing because this is preference (I like mine to have a bit more body and texture). Everything was cooked very well. I especially really like the potatoes and the peanut additions. The flavors were all there. Not a bad order. Would recommend this. It came with a generous portion of white rice as well. Overall, mediocre Thai food. I bounced back and forth between the 3 or 4 star rating. The whole experience overall was pleasant. We weren't impressed nor did they disappoint us. The service was friendly. The food took some time to arrive although we were the only guests, but that didn't bother me much. They may have a lot of things on the menu, but none really stood out to me. For instance, they have many different curry, but some are very plain. I even asked our server what was in the panang curry that you can actually eat besides the protein you select. She hesitated and answered "lime leaf". For those of you who cook with lime leaves or have accidentally eaten them before would know YOU DON'T EAT THEM. So I brushed that off. Ultimately, I'm afraid the quality just didn't quite justify their prices.

You will definitely notice the price inflation on the dishes here. They also pride themselves on food presentation if you are after Instagram worthy photos. I personally like hole in the wall joints that just slap the food on a plate and don't care to be bougee or need fancy plating. With that said, the food is good but not any better than Alom Dee or Thai Thai Orchidee. It's already expensive enough to dine out in Germany why pay more for the same quality food? I would recommend this restaurant if you want a date night experience to impress your date.

My cousin said she's wanted to try a Thai restaurant in town that she hadn't been. For tired travelers Thai food would hit the spot. This was my first time experiencing how Europeans dine where the Restauranteurs prolonging your visit. We went in about 7pm and didn't leave until 9:45 or so. They didn't want us to leave! Every patron was there at least 3 hours eating slowly and enjoying each other's company. No cell phones in sight...except for our table. We used our cell phones at our table to take pictures. No one seemed to mind us. Having your table all night is a very nice concept if you live there, but we wanted to eat and go back to my cousin's house due to jet lag. We all started off with Tom Kha soup with prawns. Excellent. My mom and my cousin had never had it and I explained the easy, but flavorful ingredients to them. They kept comparing it to a Filipino soup called ginataan, however ginataan doesn't have the same sour flavor and balance as this coconut soup has. I make this myself at home. My mom being the ultimate cook of my life, I was in shock that I cooked something that she didn't know how to make! We all ordered curry. My cousin and I had Panang curry and my mom ordered yellow curry. I got crispy duck in my curry and my mom and cousin got prawns. The food was as delicious as I expected it would The service was extremely slow. It took forever to get our food and forever to get the check. I can't knock a star off for this, however because it's meant to be this way. In the US we dine and they try to get us about of there as fast as they can to get a new table in your party. It's better for US servers because they only make 1 tip per table. In Germany they don't require any tip and my cousin told me that Germans in that area don't eat out often and when they do it's an experience that they savor. I get it. I really do. We asked for the check and probably got it over a half hour later. We were more than satisfied with our large meals that we also ate for breakfast the next day! I'm not sure if this is the only Thai restaurant in town, but it's a good one. I've had better Thai food in The States, but if I lived here I'd definitely be a regular.
