I get a full body workout in 45 minutes in a group setting with the help of a trainer and tv monitors! It's clean, organized, judgement free and fun! So, I search Facebook events regularly for new *free* activities. One day, 2 summers ago, I came across an event for the F45 Grand Rapids grand opening. I'd never heard of this F45 thing before so I did some googling and found out that it's a workout concept originating from Australia and this would be the first franchise opening within a 3 hours' drive from us. My sisters and I decided to check it out and that Saturday morning, we got to the strip on 28th street where Michaels craft store used to be. The building was just being set up with mats, tv monitors and equipment - basic floor, walls and ceiling. We ran through several stations outdoors using free weights, ropes and yoga mats. Throughout the whole workout, trainers were encouraging us with, 'Nice work!', high fives and occasionally helping us modify lifts to target the correct muscle group. It was so much fun and by the end, I made up my mind to sign up for the 2 weeks of free, unlimited classes! Since that summer, I've been going to classes randomly with my friend Nicole who goes daily. They have a 20 class pass for $300. It's steep compared to gyms that offer memberships, but I have more of an incentive to actually attend these group workouts than I do if I were to hit the gym alone. Now that the place is established, they offer multiple classes from 530a-7p, 2 clean bathrooms, cubbies to stash your coats/keys, security cameras, and a welcoming environment. I've found that the Saturday morning classes fit my schedule the best and they offer 3 classes before 11am! It's such a great way to start my weekend and gives me time to recover before the work week begins again. I'm always sore after but it's a great feeling of accomplishment after I complete 2 rounds of 27 stations of heart pounding and sweat dripping workouts! Thanks Holly, Sam, Rusty and Ashley - you guys are awesome!

It was $30! I could get a whole month membership near home for that! Here you're looking at a cool $100+ per month. Whew! BUT... seems like you get your money's worth. You have access to personal trainers, not sure if there's an extra fee. I saw one working with a couple guys and she was not routine trained planet fitness "trainer"! She was dedicated to them and pushed them to do more while having them do strength training exercises that were definitely not scripted. She seemed like the real deal. The gym has classes in cycling, cardio aerobics, yoga and more. As a member you get access to those at no extra fee. The gym is 3 floors with a host of cardio and strength training equipment sure to meet all you needs. Oh they have a turf room too. That was pretty sweet. Then to end your workout you go to the locker room and honestly I've only seen something this fancy in the movies. You got a sauna, clean bath towels, wood faced lockers, a warm carpeted floor, showers, bathrooms, hairdryers in front of private vanities with hair gel and lotion. I mean common!! It nice. Anywho it was clean, the ambiance is right, the staff are amazing so this location is getting 5 stars.

In addition to xfit workouts, they also do a strength and conditioning program and soft tissue work. What I really like about this box is that they had an introductory class for the movements and getting to know people. The coaches were knowledgable and very good at explaining the movements during this class. I thought this was a great way to minimize injury while working out. In summary, it's a great learning environment and great facility as well. It deserves the five star rating. The coaches are approachable for advice and definitely qualified. FLEXCity specializes in interval-based fitness training, incorporating strength training, cardio, and flexibility into each class. Every class is different, but in the class I went to, we did spinning, running on a treadmill, floor-based strength exercises and TRX. You are constantly moving and rotating to different exercises - you never do any one exercise for more than about 3-5 minutes. The instructor, Cora, was awesome at keeping everyone on track and focused on each activity. She was really helpful and even showed me around the machines before class so I knew what to expect. Overall, I had way more fun than I was expecting but I was definitely incredibly sore for several days after! It's a unique and fun way to get in a workout! Note, the Grand Rapids location has a large parking lot in back but they like you to use the front entrance. Get there 10 minutes before your first class so the instructor can show you around and don't forget a towel... you're gonna sweat.

Justin is the owner and instructor and he did a great job with one-on-one assistance and instruction throughout the class. Justin also provides personal training sessions, nutrition coaching, and online training. I liked the small group size which allowed for more personalized coaching even in a group setting. Drop in classes are $20, which seems pretty reasonable. I'm glad I got this opportunity to meet Justin and try a new class. If you're looking for a new gym, avoid MVP Crahen…read more I am deeply appalled and outraged by the treatment my husband experienced at MVP Athletic Club, Crahen. During a recent visit, an employee, in a moment of frustration, referred to him as "you brown people." This blatant act of racism is beyond unacceptable. When my husband understandably defended himself, the gym chose to suspend him for two weeks instead of addressing the inappropriate comment made by their staff. Even more troubling, the employee who made the comment didn't report the incident--someone else did--and the general manager has refused to return my calls to address this serious matter. It's shocking and disappointing that a place promoting health and inclusivity would condone this kind of behavior and ignore a valid complaint of discrimination. I expected better accountability and professionalism from Benny Hardouin and MVP. We both have enjoyed our memberships up to this point and made a lot of friends through the gym.Until this situation is resolved and appropriate action is taken, I will not be recommending this gym to anyone. This is a moment for MVP to take a stand against racism and demonstrate their commitment to fairness and respect. Do better.

I opted for this location to be my "home" gym since it's the closest to me, but after visiting a couple others, I'm not sure if I'm going to frequent this one as often. Given it's location of being downtown, the only option is to pay for street (metered) parking or use their parking ramp. The idea of paying for a gym membership and then paying for parking each time is a huge deterrent for me! It would make me not want to go nearly as much, however, that is only one part of the gym-going experience! It was very easy to find, and at 7am, it isn't as busy as other times of the day. I like that the app shows you the "crowd meter" but I'm realizing I don't fully understand how they gauge it. It showed that it was low but there was quite a few people around! And when I went to a different location, it showed "more people" but looked like it was completely empty. There are a lot of machines and an upstairs for cardio (and downstairs too), so there is always something you can do if you're waiting for anything in the strength training space. I liked the layout and everyone there was really respectful. Very clean too!
