I decided on a whim, to treat myself with a gel mani pedi today. It's the very time that I ever had this done, so I have nothing to compare it with other than my own experience going to PBA to become a cosmetologist in the 70's. Recently, due to back injuries, chronic pain and arthritis, I have been having trouble with doing self care like hair and nails. My hands just are too arthritic, so I've been going without. Old caregiver here. So, this was real treat, being on the other side of care. I got the full mani pedi and gel nails. The massage chair was wonderful. They had soothing music, a tv playing beautiful nature sciences, and to surprise, it was not super chemical smelling. I was concerned about that. I just let myself be guided and cared for by the young man. Now as far as salon hygiene goes, I would have preferred that techs don't ever go to register while with clients, but I really could not say if anything was wrong with that. I would have like information about how the to care for my gel nails, but I looked it up online. I plan on going back again in fact, I'm booked for a facial and mani pedi the day before my wedding anniversary. I'm sure if I sampled all the many nail salons in my area, I could have many different kinds of experiences with the employees and the business itself, but they are right next to my new hairstylist, so I'm returning with pleasure. I showed him the nail design and he said he could do it. I should've followed my gut--he looked confused or unsure. Ended up getting scammed with some ugly nails and paid a ridiculous price. Definitely not going back. Be real with your customers--if you can't do the design, just say that. He even called his girl over to show her how bad my nails looked and laughed in my face speaking his language. It's cool though... karma's coming. read more

I can only review Nails88 based on their pedicure service, but I honestly had the best pedicure of my life here. I'm not sure of the technician's name, but I had a middle aged man, and he did a great job! He really took his time and gave me a full spa experience for $33 (basic pedicure). Instead of just getting a quick cuticle trim and polish, I received an entire leg and foot massage, careful cuticle removal, and a great polish job. I was also happy that I could walk-in without an appointment, and they took me right away. I will definitely be back for another pedicure soon. read more

This is the fifth time I got my nails done there and they chipped within 1 day. The person did not trim my cuticles or any hangnails that I had. One week later they look awful because there was no top coat applied. read more

Walked in for a manicure and from somewhere in the back I hear, What do you want? I said i wanted a manicure and realized she was sitting in the last pedicure chair. Again she yelled, pick your color, and she pointed at a rack. Not a great selection and some polishes were thick (OLD). Sat down and started removing my bracelets and watch and the tech shook his head - i didn't need to. Well, I guess the massage isn't going past my hands - and it didn't. The cuticle scissors and pusher were just in a mug, not in solution or a sterile package. I can't even describe how bad my nails are. Nail polish all over the edges of my fingers, thin coats that don't cover the nail. 20 bucks and I could've gotten a 5 year old to do a better job. read more

Updated Review 2019: I'm sorry to say but this place has disappointed me the last couple times I have come back. It's taken entirely too long to simply get a manicure and pedicure done (2 hours or more) anymore and they have put me with inexperienced new technicians who I can tell were not fully trained. Staff is still friendly but the owner is also always on her phone talking loudly or texting as she is working on clients nails, which is distracting. Getting your nails done is expensive and I will be taking my money elsewhere. 2018 I enjoy coming here compared to many other salons in the south hills area. I think they do a nice job and I have gotten many different nail technicians. What I enjoy most is that they don't take three hours to do a full set and pedicure compared to a lot of other places I have tried. They are quick and efficient and my nails always turn out fairly well. They last longer than other places I've gone to too! I wish they had a bit more variety of gel options as I have noticed at other salons, so I think once they do that, I will be really wowed :) I also get my eyebrows waxed here only for $10 a lot and they always turn out fabulous! read more

This happened the last THREE times I made an appointment for a pedicure. I call for an appointment to make sure I get Jenny. She waits until my feet are already in the water and tells me that she's running behind and I end up with someone else and I end up with a crappy pedicure. She gets more money for eyebrows, so she does that but they will still take my appointment so the salon doesn't miss out on the money. DONE read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Jeni was sloppy and sped through two fills in 30 mins. Our nails are lumpy and not even painted to the cuticle. She was scrolling through twitter and text message while filing my nails and messed up the shape of my nails so bad. She wasn't paying attention and did not put a base coat on and when putting on the top coat she missed half of my nail and can clearly tell that she cut corners. Whatever you do don't come here! It was $50 for terrible service and an unpleasant nail tech. I am going home to take it all off and cry my eyes out. Thank you very much. read more

This place is so awesome, I started coming here about a year ago and I fell in love! Cam is an awesome nail tech! I usually have no idea what color or design I want and I trust her to pick and let her do whatever she wants on my nails! Her designs are beautiful, she makes sure all of your nails are even and would never send you out with bad looking nails! I will never get my nails done at Nails 88 Jenny at Nails 88 is so rude we had an appointment we were an hour early because she said come on in and then when we get there she says that she cannot take my mother ! After having an appointment and telling us we can come in early she refused to take her saying she had other appointments plus she is always on her phone all the time so watch out cuz she might cut you or screw up because she's not watching what she's doing she's too worried about the stock market! So if I were you I would save myself the trouble and aggravation and go somewhere else ! There should be a zero for for them! read more

I don't even want to give this place 1 star. Literally the worst nail salon I've ever been to. I went in for SNS dip nails and the lady had NO idea what she was doing. I had to walk her through it and she had to ask for help multiple times. My nails ended up being lumpy, uneven, you could see circles under them, there was unwanted color on the tips and they didnt end up being the color I had originally asked for. They used a regular clear top coat and not the SNS topcoat, so they feel rough like sand paper. I voiced my concerns multiple times but after almost 3 HOURS I had to be done with it and they still charged me $60 for terrible service. I've NEVER paid that much for SNS ever in life. I will NOT be going back. Ridiculously disappointed. read more

I thought I would try this place because it was closer to my home. I did not have a good experience. The worker yelled at me when I asked her politely to fix a nail. The tools that they use look like they've never been cleaned or sanitized. My nails overall look like I could have painted them at home and there is excess paint on my skin. About 10 minutes after ahe got started a snobby customer came in and was upset because she made an appointment with the owner Jen and was made to wait. Next thing you know I was asked to move so amy could finish the customer that Jen was working on she could take the customer that was upset. Jen didn't acknowledge my sacrifice, nor did she say thank you or acknowledge me for that matter. I have only been a customer for the last 6 years. read more

I have gone to this place for past 3 years. I get a pedicure about every 4-6 weeks. I love that they take the time to tend to my toe nails the way they do! No matter how I feel when I walk in - when I leave I am more relaxed and happier with a bounce in my step, even wearing toe separators. read more

Where do I start... I've never been to a nail salon where a customer was "greeted" (yelled at) across the salon with, "What do you want?" Since, I was STILL willing to pay them for a manicure and pedicure, even after I should have trusted my instinct and left at that point, this is what I have experienced: 1.) 2.5 hours for them to complete my manicure and pedicure 2.) Not listening to what I wanted (after repeating multiple times) and consistently filing my nails until totally thin and ridiculously short. 3.) The nail tech used FILTHY unsanitary manicure tools which were sitting in a regular mug. Before cutting my cuticles, she grabbed a DIRTY towel that was visibly used on a client before me. She used it to clean the residue from a prior client off her manicure station and then used that towel to clean my hands and the cuticle cutter before she began. Also, the water that was used to soak my cuticles was sitting there before I arrived. I can only imagine that the water was used for several clients before AND/OR after me. I'm rather surprised that no one has reported getting a serious infection. I was in total shock and should have left!!! I couldn't believe that they are still in business and that no one had reported them to the health board! read more

I want to thank everyone that works at nails 88 for helping me celebrate my niece 13 Birthday. I had gone the week b4 to get mine done just to make sure they were good. Not only where they super nice Helen did an amazing job on my nails. when I took my niece and daughter they were sooo nice especially bc I think they knew it was for her bday. I think my niece had sandy and my daughter had Q . Q was awesome with my daughter who is self conscious about her nails bc she had an accident where her one nail completely came off he explained that he was a professional and would make her nails look nice and he did, they were beautiful!!! I couldn't believe how comfortable they were with the kids!!! I will definitely be going back to get mine and my nieces nails filled. my daughter said she will only go to Q to get her gel polish on again.Thank you guys again!!!!! read more

I've never had a problem with nails 88 before, I've gotten my nails done a few times and they've been great but today I had the guy who sits at number 5. When he started working on my nails he told me that it was going to cost $5 extra to get them shaped, I was fine with that but asked why because i was curious. He then started getting angry explaining why and start working more rough with my nails. I'm used to getting my nails done so I was fine with the few pinches but it got to the point where my pinky and ring finger on my right hand were in so much pain from him shaping my nails so hard that I had tears in my eyes. I am never one to complain about stuff while getting my nails done but this pain was so unbearable I had to keep pulling my hands away. After the 3rd time I asked for him to be more careful but then he snapped back saying my hands were "just sensitive". Then how come the rest of my fingers were fine except the two on the end he kept butchering. I guess my nails turned on fine except for my nails turning out so much shorter than I wanted because of how much he filled them and my two throbbing fingers that I can't even lay down on the table without being in pain! The experience and his attitude ruined my whole mood for the day! Won't be going back to get my nails done by him ever again. read more
