The table cloths were very old and very dirty still. It was pretty gross to look at. All in all the hotel was fine, but over-priced for the quality.

Rooms were kept clean, beds are comfortable, AC units were blowing cold air, plus most rooms have balconies to enjoy your morning cup o'Joe while watching the traffic below. Outside noise were not evident during my stays there although constant constructions on whatever floors were assigned to you makes sleeping in a challenge.

Maxims also boasts a nice infinity pool for all guests to enjoy if the small whirlpool isn't your thing. The fitness center or gym that checked-in guests can use has adequate facilities for a quick sweat, and doesn't have a bad view either. The service is also impeccable. You can't go wrong with their 24/7 butler service, as their concierges would gladly help you out as much as they could with your specific needs (from more whiskey glasses for your guests, to simple assistance on how to operate the whirlpool). It is also pretty cool how you only are an elevator ride away from the mall area of Resorts World, so one never really runs out of things to do when checked in at Maxims.

The Festival Mall is only about 1/2 mile to the east and the Alabang Town Center is about 1/2 mile to the west. I ended up making each of the walks several times and felt very safe on each walk. The highlight to me was their breakfast buffet - there are so many excellent options to choose from (see pictures) and I did my best to sample them all every day! There were a few hits, a few misses but food was mostly average. Best items were the chocolate ensaymada & the ube cake with macapuno & leche flan. Liked the pinakbet, birthday noodles, chopsuey, & hot coffee drinks. Buffet was also enjoyable. The misses were mostly breakfast items. Skip the sad eggs Benedict. More care should also be made with selecting pastries for the refrigerated display case in the lobby cafe. Desserts looked yummy but most were items with caramel or chocolate, and giant éclairs & cream puffs. All pretty to look at but difficult to eat when cold. Had to use knife & fork to cut into the dense layers. Day spa is in the midst of renovation so they offered to do our massages in our rooms. Used our beds instead of portable massage tables. My neck was uncomfortable since I had to twist my neck to the side. They had no "donut" headrest to support my head face down. Pedicures were done in the salon in fuzzy pink fleece covered club chairs. Basic service was mainly just cleaning. Polish cost extra. Pool was a uniform 5' deep & was not heated. Water was cooler than expected but was OK after the initial plunge. Had so many leftovers from all our dining out, had to have our room's mini fridge emptied of the mini bar stuff to store it all. Very much appreciated that room service staff were willing to reheat our leftovers. Never seen this at other hotels. Superb customer service, cannot stress enough how great. This is the hotel's biggest strength. Very attentive staff across the board from servers in the lobby cafe & restaurant, doorman, housekeepers, spa staff, concierge, etc. Special shout out to Iries & Shania from the housekeeping department. They kept our room spotless & accommodated our frequent requests for extra toiletries, towels, pillows, etc. However, a minor annoyance quickly became a bigger frustration. Key cards are used to access both the elevators to guest room floors as well as individual guest rooms. Great in theory but the cards become easily disabled. Had to ask the front desk to reactivate our cards 5 different times including on 3 consecutive days. This same issue happened with our access to the hotel's free Wifi connection for guests. Reserved 2 rooms for the family. Unfortunately, despite reserving weeks in advance, rooms were located on 2 different floors. Annoying as our group tended to run around to each other's rooms at all hours of the night. A few things to note: 1) Having a big sink was great but resulted in almost no counter space in the bathroom for 1 person, let alone a family. 2) Shower was spacious & had 3 fixtures: a rain shower, a handheld shower, & a faucet. Had problems getting hot water with strong water pressure with any consistency. 3) Because of the spacious shower, 1 of our rooms had a cramped bathroom. Had to sit sideways on the toilet. The 2nd room's bathroom was OK. 4) Dim space in front of full length mirror by the door. A dark mirror is useless. Please install a light overhead to make it functional. 5) Air conditioner would reset to a preset temperature not to our liking a few hours after we adjusted it. Room 1 was too cold. Had to ask for blankets. Room 2 was the opposite, being too warm. 6) In some hallways, wallpaper was sliding off walls. Maybe because of the tropical weather's high humidity? Makes the hotel look rundown. Hotel should maybe switch to a textured paint instead. Great hotel location. Convenient, central to everything. Lots of food options including Starbucks, Jollibee & McDonald's. Banks, a pharmacy & grocery store are next door. Westgate Center is across the street. Festival Supermall, Alabang Town Center & the Molito Lifestyle Complex are all less than 10 minutes away. Most importantly, the airport is only 15 minutes away on the expressway without traffic. Our stay wasn't perfect but the pros outweighed the cons. Had a few minor gripes but they weren't deal-breakers. Will give serious consideration to staying here if & when we return to visit the Philippines. Maybe upgrade to a suite.

The only downside is their breakfast which isn't great at all.. but then again, for the price you're paying, I don't think you should expect much. And besides, they have so many restaurants around it that you can just grab some food elsewhere.

It also came with a big refrigerator and also had a 5 gallon water dispenser which was great to have. King bed was very comfortable and bathroom was also very big. Lots of storage space to keep your belongings. there was a balcony but we never utilized it since it was kind of hot. Breakfast buffet came with the booking. Lots to choose from, 2-3 dishes usually change but they usually offered plain rice, garlic fried rice, dried fish, eggs, salad bad, noodle dish (this changed daily), some sort of protein (this changed daily), small selection of breads, congee and another soup that changed daily, coffee bar, variety of juices and cereals. One reason i also chose this for accommodations over the other places was because it also offered a kids play room which came in handy every day to release all the energy. Our booking also came with a parking spot which helped a lot when our family and friends came to visit. We used the combo washer/dryer every day. It does take a bit longer to dry, so make sure you dont put a huge load of clothes in. They also offer a shuttle service on weekends to the mall, reservations are required for the times. We never utilized it but its a nice amenity to have. They are also in close proximity to food places. 7-11 is next door as well. I also found out on our last day that they can arrange for airport drop off (i am unsure of pickup). I also loved that they called us every morning when the Taho guy came through! All in all, staying here helped make our vacation in Philippines go really well. Will definitely come back here!

Stayed at Somerset Alabang serviced residences for 4 days and 3 nights for my quarantine upon…read morearrival in Manila mid September 2020. I chose Somerset Alabang because of the proximity to our house and the convenience of having a kitchenette and washer/dryer in the Studio Premier room. My PCR test result was released the next day but opted to stay longer and use up my reservation. Since we're in a pandemic, Somerset Alabang is one of the accredited hotels of the Philippine COVID19 Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF). Booking the room and airport transfer had to be done in advanced because proof of reservation is needed upon arrival in the airport. Docking a star since there was a mishap with my airport transfer service -- had to wait for about an hour since no one was answering their trunkline nor did they provide the number of the driver/car service. Frankly, after a long flight during the pandemic and going through all the protocols and test, you'd just be dead tired and craving for a nice shower. Note: the airport protocol is that a member of the coast guard will bring you down to the pick-up area to make sure a hotel car will pick you up as private cars are not allowed at the airport. This is to ensure that arriving passengers will adhere to quaratining at a designated facility while waiting for the results of you COVID19 PCR swab test. So yes I was definitely annoyed with the delay and lack of coordination. When I arrived at Somerset Alabang, the security guard instructed me to stay in the car while they bring out my luggage and load them on the cart. The lobby/reception area was empty except for 2 staff who informed me of my room number and used their fob to press the floor where my room is. As per their protocol, you don't get a room key and you room is ajar so you can enter but not be able to leave. My room was a Studio Premier room and staying there alone for three nights was enjoyable and comfortable. Their washer/dryer was very useful as I immediately washed the clothes I wore on the two flights I had to take : YVR-TPE-MNL. Laundry detergent was provided by Somerset too. They provided an "Ascott Cares" kit that contains disinfectant, alcohol and small towel. Also, another convenient, eco friendly and smart touch is that they provide every room with a 5gallon mineral water dispenser. The restaurant staff were very attentive as they call in advanced to ask about my preferred meal times so they can deliver my meals. The meals provided were tasty and filling -- I wasn't able to finish most of them as portions were quite big. They also accommodated my gluten free restriction so I got rice meals for breakfast instead of a bread basket. The bed was so comfortable and definitely made me sleep off my jetlag. I was so sad to leave the bed when it was time to check-out because it was so cozy and comfortable. Bathroom is spacious but needs an update or refresh as it looks and feels old. Wifi can be a bit spotty at times but it was manageable. Kitchenette was well-equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, stove top with essential kitchen tools, flatware and dinnerware. Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay at Somerset Alabang Manila and recommend it to those looking for a place to stay in Alabang.

I am writing a blog for great and reasonable travel in Southeast Asia and this Thai based company, is expanding in the Japan, Malaysia,Thailand and now the Philippines markets is one of the leading contenders in reasonable housing. The other value-added service here is the car pickup from MNL to this hotel. Its the cheapest around about 1100 Phil. pesos round trip (about $22). A person shows up at the airport by baggage claim with your name on a sign, just like a regular limo service. The car is an economy car unless you want to limo. That costs more of course.You can book through the travel desk at this hotel (a 3rd party company) to the right of the checkin desk. Or email the hotel ahead of time. It takes about 24 hours to confirm your airport pick up. Verdict: Enjoyed it for an overnight stay. Will use again if i come in on a late night flight and leaving the next morning. Visits: 1 Tip: Do not stay here if you expect 4-5 star hotel services. But come here if you want to save beaucoup $$ because the rate is incredibly fair. There is a Family Mart and 2 other convenience stores. There are no phones in the room. Think of this room as airport lodging while in transit nothing more.
