Not that it doesn't have great things about it, it's the fact that it has glaring weaknesses. Let me talk about both the good things and the bad things about City Garden Grand Hotel. Good Things: location is good. Staff as friendly and helpful. Rooms are big. Bad Things: Elevators are ridiculously slow. You can watch paint dry and grass grow while waiting for the elevators which makes it painful for leaving and getting to the rooms, roof top pool and restaurant, and gym. Shower sucks, the shower head is terrible and at many times during the day there is no hot water. These two "bad things" as deal breakers for me. Taking cold showers and waiting 10 minutes for an elevator to come, I might as well go camping. I think a person who stays at this hotel won't die, but will be greatly inconvenience.

Staff greet you and open the doors of the lobby. The first for me is a small TSA-style metal detector (presumably for safety) at the entrance. There also happens to be multiple on-site restaurants, one of which has a breakfast buffet that was outstanding! There is also a pool, which was on a higher floor outdoors but somewhat smaller than other rooftop pools I have tried. They sent fresh fruit to my room and even accommodated an early checkin as their gesture for something special once I requested if something could be done, as it was my husband's first trip to the Philippines! I overall recommend this hotel and would check out their other locations around the world. Will stay here again if I return to Manila!

The indoor pool, family-friendly amenities, promenade restaurants, and resort-style atmosphere were major selling points. With its reputation as one of Manila's top resorts, my expectations were very high. We booked the complimentary round-trip airport transfer and received restaurant discounts. Upon arrival, finding our shuttle was easy. Employees in purple blazers were waiting with our name, and we were escorted to TWO shuttle vans for our group of eight. The vans were clean, comfortable, and stocked with bottled water and hand wipes. The service was excellent and made a great first impression. The hotel itself is beautiful. Security staff were friendly, the bellmen were professional, and the interior felt luxurious. Check-in went smoothly despite a minor booking-name issue. We were assigned two rooms next to each other,, both clean and ready upon arrival. The Deluxe Family Suites were spacious and comfortable, with three beds and two bathrooms each. The bidet toilets, room-control tablet, large closet space, fountain views, and complimentary glass bottled water added to the experience. It truly felt like a luxury resort. I want to especially recognize the maintenance and housekeeping teams. We discovered a shower drainage issue on our first day, and maintenance responded immediately and fixed it. Our housekeeper, Kris, was wonderful. She kept our room well stocked, organized, and welcoming throughout our stay. My mother also needed a refrigerator for medication, and one was promptly provided. The Promenade was convenient and offered many dining options. We especially enjoyed Piazza, the Italian restaurant. The food, service, atmosphere, and fountain views were outstanding. I highly recommend making a reservation and requesting a table near the fountain. Unfortunately, my experience with the casino was disappointing. Obtaining a rewards card involved providing extensive personal information, including occupation details, which felt unnecessarily invasive compared to casinos in Las Vegas. The card process was confusing and inconsistent. Several employees were not particularly helpful and explanations about rewards and slot play were rushed. This was the area where I felt hospitality fell short. Another disappointment was the pool. One of the main reasons we chose the hotel was the indoor pool featured in promotional photos and videos. Upon arrival, we learned it was no longer available for regular guest use and was reserved for events. This information should be communicated before booking. We used the outdoor pool instead, but I was disappointed with the water quality and did not feel comfortable spending much time there. On a positive note, the Play indoor playground exceeded expectations. My son loved it and wanted to visit every day. The facility was clean, well maintained, and staffed by friendly employees. There was a slight hiccup with our complimentary return to thr airport. Because our two rooms had different flight times, we needed separate shuttle schedules. We were initially told that only one complimentary airport transfer was allowed per booking, despite having two rooms with separate deposits and the same included amenities. We spent much of the day being directed between departments trying to resolve the issue. Eventually, a supervisor arranged the second complimentary shuttle, which we appreciated. The front desk also apologized with a thoughtful gift and thank-you card. On departure day, everything went smoothly. The shuttle service, transportation staff, bellmen, and drivers were all excellent. The other room left early in the morning. We stayed later because we had a later flight. They stored our luggage until our evening flight and provided great service until the very end. Overall, the hotel accommodations, housekeeping, maintenance, transportation staff, restaurants, and family amenities were excellent. However, the casino experience, lack of transparency regarding the indoor pool, and confusion surrounding the airport transfer policy affected our stay. I would gladly stay at the hotel again, but I would likely skip the casino and focus on enjoying the resort itself.

I know what nasty tasting bottled water tastes like and Okada had high quality bottled water. The rooms are pretty dated though and the color scheme of pink really wasn't my vibe. I think the thing it has going for itself is the casino. The fountain show was a highlight too since it's open to the public via the promenade. Medley Buffet has been my top choice for buffets throughout my dining experience in the PI. I actually liked it better than Vikings, The Alley at BGC. For the grounds, you can take an electric cart to the pool or get some exercise by walking there but if you're only wanting to get some fresh air on the deck (a view overlooking the bay), they limit your stay for 15 minutes. Kind of a weird policy but ok. We met some friendly folks from Texas while hanging out in the lobby lounge so there are definitely international travelers from the US who stay here. I wouldn't stay here again though. It's not really in a desirable area. If I were to stay around Manila bay again I would actually book Conrad Manila just because it's much closer and convenient to Mall of Asia (MOA). The hotel grounds at Conrad were easier to navigate too. I felt the customer service at Conrad was better as the check-in line host was friendly, the front desk staff were seasoned, and team members throughout the property were welcoming. At Okada, they were training someone when I checked out; I was the guinea pig. I also had a different incident (lack of proper training on their part) which wasted my time and left me frustrated. Definitely a lack of seasoned employees at Okada's front desk, unfortunately.

We were in line, and there were foreigners who insisted they have reservations. Honey, Kyra, Jener, Kaye (the ones in charge with the queue) said there were no reservations for breakfast, but then suddenly gave in and let the foreigners through. There were a lot of people in line, but they allowed these people to get through. What kind of decision and judgement is that? I felt racism in my own country! Terrible, TERRIBLE SERVICE! The single bedroom suite is spacious with nice big king bed, nice living room with a full kitchen and access to presidential lounge (free drinks and food from 6 AM to 10 PM). It is definitely worth the money! The double bed room is generic but comfortable. We had breakfast at the cafe down-stair which was pretty good and fresh but not exceptional. The lobby restaurant provides the same menus as room service which is reasonable price. They have shuttle to take you to airport with about 1400 peso or $30 USD per person or per car. If you stay in the suite, it is free charge. The reason I did not give them 5 star because: 1. There is not convenience store on-site for snack or water/juice. You can buy coffee or alcohol at the lobby restaurants but not water or juice! You do have 2 small bottle of water per room per day! There is a near-by 7-11 store! 2. Room key is only allowed you to get to your own room but if you need to meet your friends on different floor, you will have to meet at the lobby. (Perhaps, for security reason that your key only works for your room floor! However, it is somewhat inconvenience when our group got separated and we could not get our luggage from our friend's room!) 3. Most staff is pleasant but not helpful if you do not speak Tangalo and/ or do not stay in their suite!

Clean, spacious room. It was an interesting setup as our 2 queen bedroom had 3 separate wash rooms - one for toilet, one for bathtub, and one for shower. Each had it's own sink so that was nice. Every night we had a comfortable sleep. TV offered a handful of movie channels such as HBO. Excellent breakfast - it's a little pricey, but I would recommend paying for the breakfast at least once. It offers a huge selection and is delicious. Cafes, shopping malls, convenience stores, laundry services all within a 5 minute walk. The pool and gym are excellent. Clean and spacious to get a good swim or workout. Dry and steam sauna, hot tub, and lockers are also available free of use. Cons: It is located in more of a business-oriented area of BGC. I would call it the financial district. The streets are very crowded with workpeople and cars. Go up north (about 7 minute drive or 15 minute walk) and you will be in a much more vibrant, popular area of BGC full of restaurants and activities. We had a great stay here but if I am being honest, next time we will maybe stay in a different area of BGC if visiting for vacation. But if you're staying as a couple or for business, this hotel is a solid choice.

The bathrooms were notable clean and the room was complete with everything from towels to shampoos to water bottles to menu and 24 hour desk service. There was also parking at the basement. This is basically a hotel along Tomas Morato. Now that can mean anything like just having a staycation in Quezon city or folks coming from the provinces or abroad wanting to stay near Tomas Morato and explore or you just want to party and have a nearby place to crash. Perfect for all those uses.
